    thanks Vlad, seems to have done the trick. Good clear instructions and really enjoyed listening to you get more and more annoyed with the "shitty plastic" :) made learning fun.

    So, to remove the back cover I have to remove the keyboard?
    And another question, is it necesary to unplug all those connectors? or just the keyboard one?

    • @MTS_IT
      @MTS_IT  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      yes, just the keyboard one (i'm actually re-watching the video to see :D)

    Thanks for the video! I have a question! I got the c850d PSCC2C-012003 for free out of a dumpster! It works BUT the battery does NOT charge. I know it's not the battery because i have the same battery and laptop as well, and both batteries work. Both batts are not recognized by windows when I plug it in while ON and OFF, BUT it does blink AMBER when the battery is inserted with AC plugged in AND when AC is out. I am guessing it's the mainboard and/or a mosfet. Any idea what I could do here? Replace the mainboard? I can get a used one locally for about $40. I am poor student here in Canada during this hysteria! Thnks a lot man!

      hi, try checking the battery fuse. it's white little brick usually somewhere near the battery connector.

    • @MTS_IT
      @MTS_IT  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      it looks similar to the brick near the keyboard connector (to the left of it) th-cam.com/video/Edr8vnRHS0s/w-d-xo.html you can check it with multi-meter in diode mode (if it makes a sound it's OK)

    I know it’s very old video. But hope u can help. Mine is L850. The fan sometimes doesn’t run. I cleaned it with brush but still malfunctioning. I couldn’t fully removed the fan to put some oil in it. Should I change the fan or is there anything else I can do? What kind of oil do u use for this fan? My laptop got overheated and automatically got turned off several times. What can I do?

    can i remove the fan without removing the copper heatsink?

    • @MTS_IT
      @MTS_IT  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      you can, just unscrew top 4 screws on the fan and lift the fan cover (you will not be able to remove it but you will be able to clean it), however i do recommend you remove everything and change the thermal paste.

    • @jjj0nathan
      @jjj0nathan 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      i did it. my toshiba c850 din't have screws under the keyboard. not even a single one. also, the fan was just placed by the side of the heatsink and not fixed to it. so it came out easily without doing anything to the heatsink. Amazingly, just cleaning the fan and heatsink airvents with a brush reduced the temps by 10 C. i am really surprised. i think this thermal paste business is a big scam.
      my laptop will be 3 years old in march 2017.
      people should first clean the fan and airvents before investing in thermal pastes.

    • @patricialoau

      @@jjj0nathan Old comment I know, but the thermal paste is like $5. If you're gonna do something, do it right and replace your thermal paste as you clean your laptop.
