  • @groundhornbill

John, I'm a DA supporter and I believe your party has what it takes to pull SA out of the ANC cesspit. But you have to admit that the US ambassador's utterance were irresponsible and unfounded without any real proof or evidence that arms were loaded or unloaded. He may suspect it. But he should have kept his trap shut. What he's done with just a few words is put South Africa and its citizens under more financial pressure wrt to the current economic climate in SA. Inflation is crazy and rising interest rates are taking its toll on homeowners. More disinvestment risks higher interest rates. If the DA is to lead this country, you'd better start getting a better understanding of basic economics. And you don't need to pander to Americans.

Well the Americans have every right to try make us look bad if they suspect us of something. It should be VERY easy for us to prove our innocence. I suspect the only reason we are now going to have another month's long commission, is to drag it past the elections, because the ANC knows they are guilty.
If it turns out to be false, I will agree with you that they should have kept quiet if they didn't have enough evidence. But they seem to think they do, and they say they told the government about it.
Regarding not having to pander to the US, I think that's where you wrong. John has more economic knowledge than you, else you would realize that, if you think our economy is bad now, wait until we get booted from AGOA due to the ANCs stupidity. John is trying to calm the waters. Maybe pandering a bit, but trying to prevent the worsening of the economy you are complaining about.

You can't complain about the economy, and then in the same breath tell the DA they mustn't side with the US, who could deal our economy a death blow. I agree our economy is a mess. That's why, if we need to apologize, that's what we should do. In our situation, we can't afford to have this imaginary sense of pride. @@MlabaB Actually quite contrary, The ANC and EFF are. Who knows what the DA is up to coalition wise, but unlike most all other parties, they have delivered far more to people. In like 2 years 230k people moved to the Cape away from Joburg to get some of that DA service. So yeah. Because they arnt the ruling party, they dont have the powers needed to effect change on the scale many want. The DA for now, has to serve its tax paying voters 1st. Cant do shit without money and there is far too much needed to fix SA, that the DA doesnt have. Why its important to get the ANC and EFF out. Imagine what the DA could do then. But people expect results now, and thats the problem.
My DA councilor cant help my area because he says its next to impossible working with all these ANC and otherwise incompetent idiots. And thats another problem people need to consider, our country's population lacks standards, good work ethic, and disciplinary action isnt taken because all the lazy bums are working together, therefor nobody is held accountable for any correction or none existent service delivery. And then nothing gets done if your the DA who has to work with such people in such a system. Nobody seems to think on ground lvl about things. Its always about what the DA is and isnt doing that people judge them. People are far too ignorant if you ask me. All we can do, is vote and watch how it unfolds.
Ultimately i think if the ANC wins, the nation is going to get so bad, that the ANC and EFF voters are going to tear the country apart, and their leaders too. So win win either way.

Remember even though the Russians have plenty of armor, these could be depleted considering the magnitude they have been using them in Ukraine. There has never been a country being bombed like Ukraine in recent history, even syria where there is a current conflict, hasn't seen or experienced what Ukraine has gone through. Also realize SA has Denel which is a manufacturer and also ammunition assembling enterprise producing arms. The possibility of selling and shipping armor could be real. The DA completely forgets that we are not in Europe. The west was never a good friend of Africans in general. Ignorance is dangerous. During apartheid, the west supported the white regime in South Africa. It was horror to the black people. Russia supported the black revolution. So, common sense should tell you where black South Africans stand in this matter, and I'm not talking about political parties. The DA, being predominantly white, shows that it does not care about South Africa as a whole, but a certain group of South Africans. The country will never solve it's problems while we are so divided. Ask yourself this question, is the DA saying that NATO should attack South Africa. We all live in this country. If NATO, or the United States embarks on a war against SA, those bombs won't chose color.

And i do take that you are aware that during the apartheid era, of which you approved, the Americans and their poodle friends labelled the ANC a terrorist organisation. @xman1533 HE is always for South Africa 🇿🇦. The DA IS THE ONLY TRUE MULTIRACIAL MULTICULTURAL PARTY IN SOUTH AFRICA 🇿🇦. But How many fires can one put out when the ruling party is so corrupt and thieving and a bunch of liars. Hopefully sanity will reign and we will get a strong opposition coalition in 2024 that share the same policies and ideals as the DA. Eg NO race based employment merit over Melanin. Less red tape to start small business's. Less taxes all round to assist business's. Pro entrepreneurs and business employment. Private power producers that will pay for the development of power and the right to sell it , to assist ESKOM. Pretty much use our taxes for infrastructure at the right fair price so get rid of the ANC CADRE MIDDLEMEN who eg charge R10 000 for knee pads in Eskom. Just pretty much stop the stealing and looting of our taxes to the ANC. USE OUR TAXES TO HONESTLY ASSIST THE RESIDENTS OF SOUTH AFRICA. Unless we achieve this International investment will look to easier developing countries to do business with. We need to wake up and REALISE WE ARE NOT THAT SPECIAL. No one is going to give the ANC 30% of their business to do business in South Africa. Eg Elon Musk Starlink. We represent 0.01% of his starlink business interests? ANC said no to the opportunity as he would not give up 30%. Ridiculous. SO NO STARLINK IN SA.
