Thanks for checking out the video, guys! I see the comments about the coaching. To this day, that was some of the best, most helpful coaching I've had. My professor was not able to make the event so I reached out to one of our affiliates and they were gracious enough to make sure I had someone in my corner that day. If you recognize the voice of the guy coaching me, you already know how fortunate I was at my very first competition. Nothing but respect.

Let me apply what I've learned in practice without having to take extra brain cycles to process what a helicopter parent is screaming while I'm in the midst of competition. Analyze it on video after the fact, cool as well. If you're in a fight for your life in a random situation, is there going to be a know-it-all boss there telling you what to do?

It’s masters, the dude has a job. The difference between the cheapest of karate gis and a shoyoroll is pretty insignificant to a masters adult employed well enough to waste time going to BJJ competition.
Basically, homeboy can wear whatever he likes.

This is so stupid it's not two fighters going at each other, but one fighter going against a whole team of trainers and their "student" that can't do anything on his own and the referee who is allowing this. I mean you don't go to an exam with you father to tell you what the right answers are, right. This was not a test of skill or knowledge, this was just one black dude who got all the answers handed to him while the white guy had to figure out the things on his own, it's the definition of cheating on your trail. I bet that without the coach shouting to him what to do, he'd panic and lose.
