Gray Treefrog and Wood Frog both can freeze completely - heart stops beating and everything - then they can thaw out and come to life in the spring 🙌 pretty cool. Also love me some monkey frogs from South America.
Our band (Katchafire) was made honorary ambassadors of the Archey's frog back in 2008-2009 by senior members of the captive program at the Auckland zoo where we also held a free concert and raised money for the tiny lil' guys. We were told by the zoo keeper it was the quietest and most well behaved the zoo animals have ever been when we had our concert there, our music must have chilled them all out lol. Growing up as a kid, our house was by a pond and green frogs were common and always hopping around, my friends and I would catch them and race them. I kept one as a pet. Cool video, thanks for sharing.
There are some wild frogs out there, and you really picked some good ones Summer. I agree with your rankings, though I do have a soft spot for the freaky Suriname toads and the hairy frogs. I think the Argentine Horned Frog is an honorable mention, they’re just absolutely incredible and adorable little units. Great work Summer!
There's a podcast called Ologies hosted by Alie Ward and she has an episode called Bufology which is all about toads! It is my favorite podcast and a great episode for anyone who is interested!
Great anuran tier list. I do see you created a wastebasket for the body horror frogs, and maybe its just it doesn't super bug me, but they out their adaptations that must have had some heavy selection pressures to develop. -JJ
There's the torrent frog Micrixalus sp in the Western Ghats in India (where you get the purple frog too) that has some really cool foot-flagging behaviour which the male does to maintain territoriality and attract mates. A cool leg dance it does atop rocks in the late monsoon.
I was with you pretty much til Surinam toad. They're cute little freaking pancakes. It's not their fault the biological imperative turns them into funnel cakes.
I'm under the weather since I got my second vax dose yesterday, literally the perfect time to see a cheerful new outdoorswithsum vid! We get striped rocket frogs where I live and they are always fun to see, mostly just because it's something which isn't a cane toad or a green tree frog I think haha
🥰🥰 glad to hear it, wishing you a speedy recovery! I’m getting my second dose today actually! So cool about the rocket frogs - are they as good jumpers as I’ve heard?!
@@outdoorswithsum Thanks! 😊 good luck with the vax! I've also heard tales of the rocket frogs' huge jump but I think the ones around me are hiding their power levels or something haha, never seen them jump that far personally 🐸
thanks for watching frog lovers 🐸 did I miss any cool frogs?!
enjoyed this one very much! Thanks for that!
@@Peter-pp6kj thanks mate!

"biodiversity is the spice of life" my new words to live by. You know I love my pokemon and pop culture animal comparisons! I dig your tier list!
AMEN! I thought you’d appreciate the polywhirl tier 💕💕💕 thanks for watching Shelby!
Strawberry blue jean is my fave!!!! Crazy how convergent evolution can make that purple frog look like a mole. Frogs are amazing!!!

Heheheh this might be a little too on the nose but I’m gonna say Kermit is… Kermit tier
I've seen the flying frog in Borneo! What a frog. They were all hanging out around a boar wallow, presumably to mate.
WHAT that is so cool!!! I’m so jealous
