Valvetronic Designs Ferrari F430 Exhaust - www.normalguys...
It's time to upgrade the exhaust on my Ferrari 430 Scuderia. Although the factory exhaust sounds great, it does not have that classic F1 high pitch sound that you want from a Ferrari. So we are installing a Valvetronic Designs full exhaust system - Headers, Cat Deletes, and most importantly, a titanium x-pipe muffler with valves! This should give it the great high pitch sound that you expect out of a Ferrari. I can't wait to hear it!

Wow....they are art pieces !!! View of Josh's exhaust from underneath is spectacular.... you almost want to replace the diffuser with a low hanging mirror to show it off.... can't wait for the sound off.... very exciting
Haha that would be cool
Man, the scud headers look like a nightmare to put on. That titanium setup looks amazing. Can’t wait to hear it.
Me either!
Dan bless you for going hard to show this video. I'm pretty sure the course words are up there. Much respect...
Oh yes this one has a lot of quacks
Dan, would love to hear your comparison between your old 458 vs the SCUD! You’ve had both, so would enjoy hearing you thoughts.
I'll let you know once it's finished
Oem Scud vs oem 458 is not even close. Scud all the way.
Can’t wait to hear it!! The time lapse at the end was cool!👍💪
Thanks 👍
I thought the TH-cam video on the valvetronic exhaust upgrade on the Scud was fair and well done but it prompted me to ask this question. One of my friends had a 458 which I drove fairly aggressively after shooting a shotgun twice the same day.Following the car drive a little Woodford Reserve was enjoyed.Next morning awoke with significant tinnitus.Thoughts on hearing protection while driving supercars? I used hearing protection for hunting, shooting, lawn maintenance, never have with Woodford 😁. Thank you
It can happen in loud cars for sure.
Thanks for the input and prompt response.Ive always enjoyed your channel.Have had several 911s , planning to keep the current 2021 992( love it except for road noise) but hoping to get a 458 or 488 as well one day, problem is that I may have to get my wife a pool ,pool house and outdoor kitchen so the Ferrari will be double the cost.Oh well, you only go around once 👍
Bitter sweet install, great job guys!
Thanks! 👍
great job guys ! can't wait to hear these. Also, are you happy with the high pitch sound of the Kline Muffler ? I just got mine, will also change the cats, keeping the OE Headers v2, hope it will sound high pitch :)
Yes we're fans on the Kline systems
Great video Dan & Josh keep up the good work ✌️✌️✌️
Thanks! Will do!
Dan, I hear the replacement of the exhaust is serious work for you.
This one is
Dan, I’m enjoying my Father’s Day in bed coffee and watching car videos. Happy Dad’s day. What happened with the header gaskets and not fitting? And are you replacing the engine mounts with rubber ? I never knew about the secondary air on the Scud headers either. Good stuff.
I had to reuse the left gasket, the right one worked. Yes the Scud mounts are the same as the f430.
Scud is awesome sounding car, well, awesome car all around. X-pipe makes a huge difference. I installed the Capristo X-pipe on my V10 R8 10 years ago and love it but its stainless steel. I think titanium and inconel sound better than stainless. Enjoy!
Yeah Inconel is my favorite but titanium is close
The exhausts are looking sweet!!! Looking forward to hearing them!
🤌 🤌 🤌
You and me both!
Dan, I'm gonna call you the Scud GURU! Josh, your exhaust looks badaSS!!
Thanks Fred
Dan, I don't play with Ferraris, I play with GTOs, but keeping original parts with a car always makes it more valuable as far as I'm concerned. Exhausts, wheels, etc. Especially on a rare car like yours. Down the road someone may want to put the car back to factory stock for concours. 2cents.
I understand completely... but in the Ferrari world, some updates are approved.
That's why I'm keeping them
@@realbogus I understand your point as well, updates are fine and good. Just don't sell off valuable and rare factory parts if they enhance the value of the car to the next owner/s.
This car is fully covered in the aftermarket, and its worth the investment because the aftermarket goes far beyond factory parts for quality. This thing is going to be loud guaranteed with those valves open. I am interested in the performance gains, which should be quite substantial.
Hopefully!
Did you end up being able to fit the standard F430 manifold gaskets or did you have to order scud specific gaskets?
The other side the factory gasket fit perfectly so I'm thinking we had a manufacturing defect on the one gasket
Do you still have the exhaust from the scud? Maybe keen to buy it 😅
No it went with the car
@ 😢 ok thanks
Did you guys reused the hardware for the muffler and exhaust pipes?
Some but not most
@normalguysupercar you guys have a recommended site to purchase some? I bought a second hand exhaust and it's missing all the hardware, including the clamps
Articulate? Dan using them big Ferrari words! Great video!
Lol thanks
Sounds Good 👌
Thanks

So you just installed the SR71 equivalent of exhaust pipes! Outstanding
Haha I like that
Did you check that the titanium for the mufflers is not the titanium that is being used on Boeing airplane wings?
Lol you mean the door plug?
Did you put heat blankets on headers? Not criticizing just asking? Any issues??
Nope. They aren't really as big a deal when you're removing the cats
4:11 sounds great
Thanks!
Do you have any experience with Kressieg (sp) exhaust on the 430? From the videos I've seen it sounds EPIC, but not sure about actual sound or whether it sacrifices performance for sound
I know of them but haven't heard it in person
@@normalguysupercar there's a really nice 430 for sale in Dallas that has it. I flew in to see the car last weekend and was super excited to hear the exhaust. But the dealer had it tucked away in the corner of their dealership, basically needing to move like 8 cars to get it out, which they didn't even offer to do, even knowing that I flew in from California specifically to see the car. Was super frustrating, I was pissed.
@@TheSoundofSpeed that's lame. I guess they weren't really that interested in selling it.
@normalguysupercar yeah clearly not. It's still the one I would buy right now, if everything checked out with it. But since they didn't give me the time of day or even the opportunity to even see the car in the sunlight, they can completely F@$% off, I'll find another. Waiting for you to get a nice Rosso Corsa/Tan coupe with low driver miles (10-15k or so).
Some of the sounds from the stock exhaust remind me of a Chevy big block. Not the rip, but the gurgling sound.
BTW... if the EPA finds out you deleted the cats... the fine will suck.
Yes indeed
So, you say you're not going to throw out the Scud factory exhaust. Does that mean you're not selling it either? My Scud has the S-Line cat-back system...
I'm not going to sell the factory exhaust. I'll keep it for when I sell the Scud
@@normalguysupercarsort that bad boy out like your other F430s (rectify all issues ie leaks etc) and itll sell quick!
Awesome
Yes indeed
I sure wish I could rev my R8 like that…. Damn rev limiter!
Ah yes
Do you still have your 458?
No sold it years ago
Sorry Dan. I know you mentiined it but the OEM scud and F430 are some of the best Ferrari has for OEM sound. They really dont need aftermarket exhaust mods unless issues arise. In my case, my can started leaking and sprayed white crap all over. Hence I also replaced my exhaust BUT i would not have if didnt need to. That being said, sound is a subjective matter. Furthermore, somehow your sound clips just dont sound as good as other OEM Scuds Ive heard. For sure, you were shifting too early from 2nd to 3rd. To be fair, I hope post new install, you try and shift at same shift points to be fair. Your Scud looks great. Look fwd to seeing and hearing upcoming vids. Yes, keep OEM for next owner. I predict you will be selling (yikes on driving hard on loose gravel road)
Yes sound is very subjective but most people like the F1 high pitch sound
you are better off getting a tune after an exhaust install.
Yeah I'm sure I will either way so it can take full advantage of it
o2 extenders ?!?! 🤨🤨🤨?!😜😜!?
Yeah
I have them. Nope. No worky. Cel all day long
very nice but the collectors must be protected by insulation, because the free collectors on F430 are very dangerous
They are dangerous?
@@normalguysupercar yes for fire hazard.
23 minutes of talking about the exhaust sound, really?!?
Ohhh nooooo!
@@normalguysupercar oh nooo so pathetic 😂🤦♂️
Will be interesting.....keep at it..... 💪
NGL the factory with valves open sounds pretty good too
I agree. Like I said, the Scud does actually sound pretty good with the factory exhaust... But I think we can make it better
Ferrari all parts only one video TH-cam uploads
I suspect the exhaust costs more than my 2006 Vette is worth.... sigh...
Eh... Depends on the miles and condition of the Vette... But sadly it's not our of bounds
Put some wheels too, fatter tires
Eh maybe. Wheels are difficult
@normalguysupercar what makes wheels difficult?
Ferrari all parts tell me only one video
Dan, you need do exhaust work as a sideline. 😂🤡
I'm exhausted
You said “scud” way too many times in this video. That is all.
Scud
