Better help is sinister in my opinion. Its proliferation on so many TH-cam channels is worrisome to me. It is no substitute for in person therapy. I have tried both.

"Not everything is about the monetary value" YESSS HUNTYYYY. Sometimes we have to make that investment in ourselves no matter how much it costs (to the point we can actually afford it). I just decided to move out of a toxic home and live selfishly in an EXPENSIVE studio apartment for a peaceful life. Best. Decision. Ever.
Yes I did the same last year! Sometimes I envy my friends who stay at home with their sane, respectful family and get to save money, but then I remember my independence is priceless.

As someone who has come to the conclusion that she needs to do the same, I am so happy to hear you say this and I wish you more peace and power. For a long time I didn't want to admit I lived in a toxic home because of how expensive it would be to move out (I'm in the Bay Area too!) but my sanity won in the end. It's one of those things where it's expen$ive af but you just HAVE to invest in it.

I make music. Costs a shit load to release albums and you don't always recover the investment but that piece of music will live forever and putting out music into the world is a feeling unlike no other. To play a show and have people moshing and headbanging to your songs and telling you it changed their lives, saved them etc. Priceless.

Because of how I was raised I have a lot of guilt associated with doing things for myself but I feel like self care and love is a muscle that you have to exercise, just doing small acts for yourself goes such a long way.

I keep prehistoric animals. Like spiders and snakes and such. Some of these snake morphs are expensive but I don’t care. I’ll happily pay £100 for a snake. Or a rare Tarantula.
