I love your content, you look fantastic at 50 and I'm sure you're still going to be 'knocking 'em dead' at 60 and 70 and 80...and I hope you're still sharing your tips and make-up ideas with us as it changes and develops to meet your skin changes. ❤❤❤ I have learned lots from you, and I'm 63, and getting younger from using your tips and tricks to improve skin looks and face shape, including a slight overlining of the lips to bring back a little more fullness that I used to have ❤❤❤❤
I will try try again Risa. 🤞
Thanks! I’ll watch and practice!!
I’m 40 and I honestly “forget” that my makeup technique needs to be updated. Mentally I still feel 20ish lol
Great video thank you
That’s why I’m here! I felt this! I changing up my huge powder brush for my night out tomorrow. I was wondering why it looked cakey and emphasized my fine lines!
Hi Risa! I'm 56 and really did not like lip liner at all until I found a clear one (by Maybelline)! Now, I even use it to keep lip oils, glosses, etc. from migrating. Game changer for my no fuss attitude!!
Yes!!!
Same!! I love a clear lip liner!
Ok. I haven't found clear lip liner in ages. I need to look for the one from Maybelline.
AVON used to have a clear one in their Glimmersticks I liked as well. Been a few years since I stopped selling so I don't know if they still carry.
@@VAwitch not last time I tried to buy one. That's where I would get them.
Let me say this. When I turned 60, even 50’s rules changed for me. I’m 62. I’ll share my tips. Press and dab into skin it’s a must. No drag or pull. Powder use a dab or even finger under eyes. LESS IS MORE. I hardly wear foundation I don’t use around mouth or where wrinkles are just what’s left over-Blush is hard. Use , but lightly build and then blend into skin so no lines show, no heavy liner or like heavy black. USE highlighter, only a slight glow , (if you have pores or wrinkles ) also the dark sides of nose like heavy bronzer. Blending. Be light handed is the trick. Even now, I can’t wear as much as I did.
Any advice on using a color corrector for dark under-eye circles? I'm 59 and I have dry skin
Peach Isa good color corrector. Mrs Melissa has great videos on color correction.
@@Durelle820 I use a darker peach corrector ( Natasha denona is my choice) and then cover with a concealer in a colour matching my foundation (makeup forever HD is my fav concealer as it is not dry at all ).
@Durelle820 A good tip on correcting is whatever you choose, should look okay if suddenly you were interrupted and couldn't finish your makeup. In other words, it would pass off as almost normal and you wouldn't look crazy.

That makes no sense but thank you
I’m 38 this year and am so over the trends that don’t apply to real life…it’s how I found you!
I'm 34 and found this helpful too!
Excellent suggestions, Risa! I recently turned 73 and I see the value of your advice. I still enjoy makeup and am learning every day about new techniques. I agree with all your say.
I totally agree! Thank you so much for this video, Risa! ❤
I'll be turning 50 in January and can attest to the fact that harsher blush will age you. I didn't realize it until I got so many comments about how much younger I looked one day. That evening I realized that I had tried a new blush that was a light pinky-peach color rather than the berry color I normally wear.
Good point. A berry toned blush can look dated. I forgot about that.
Risa, I'm 48 and honestly I have learned how to do my makeup from your tutorials. I also have small hooded eyes and your tips have been invaluable through the years. I get SO MANY compliments on how my makeup looks.Thank you for this video.
As soon as you brought up Prescriptives….OMG! I remember going in to department stores and dousing myself with Calyx! Loved their makeup back in the early 90s.
Calyx!! I LOVED that fragrance! Did you also like Grass by Gap? And Happy by Clinique? ❤❤❤😂
@@auroraborealis13579 Happy is still around. Not familiar with GRASS, but a discontinued one that I loved from Body Shop was called Leap! I still have an old empty bottle on my dresser that still contains the scent!
They were " inclusive & diversity" before these were buzzwords and marketing terms
Loved that fragrance!
@@auroraborealis13579I LOVED GRASS!
Hi Risa. I’m in my 70’s and a big fan of yours. I appreciate all of your help. Using your tips, people tell me I look ten years younger. Thank you!
That’s amazing! Thanks for sharing!!
Amen sister! I’m 62 and agree 💯 %. Your look in this video is something that all 50+ should aspire to. Beautiful & totally flattering! It’s hard to look at overdone faces.
One of the best tips that you've touched on here (and in other videos) is that as we get older we should be going for a softer look. As a 64 yo I find using harsh colors and lines calls attention to the products, not my features. If I want to go for that "pop" or use the newest craze that's great - but I may need to modify the application techniques to achieve the end result I want. Thanks for helping us enhance our looks and making our outsides match our inner beauty Risa!
Risa, you are amazing. I’ve been feeling bad about myself (weight gain mainly) for a while. Watching you has made me inspired and happy. Even if I barely go anywhere due to my self-conscious issues…I really want to follow your suggestions. Thank you!!!
I’m turning 52 in a few days and these tips are wonderful!
Just after I turned 40 I was in Sephora looking for a liquid liner, an associate probably in his 20s suggested a pencil (makeup by Mario) that I could soften and blend out before it dries… some of the best advice for me to let the liquid wing fly away 😂
I’m 42 and my liquid wing is here to stay lol
@@EnchantedgrlI'm 53 and I wish I could make it work either way 😂😫
@@rabbit3212010 do it girl! You got this!!! don’t let no one tell you that wings are only for young girls 😘💕💅

I started lining the outside of my lips with a mid tone lip stick color then use a brighter lip stick in the middle. It’s an ombré look. I get so many compliments since I started doing it! I’m 59 yrs old and work with 100’s of in person customers per day. Much Love
Risa, I’ve been wearing false lashes since my early 20s (I’m 47 now) and I LOVE to hear of your approach with your lash line to make them usable and non-overpowering for women of all ages!!! I am here for it!!! Go, queen!! 👑
Great tips Risa, you’re so good in teaching and sharing your experience with us! ❤
I couldn’t agree more about everything you said! I’m turning 50 next month. I’m not a makeup artist, just a makeup lover and have been since my early teens. I’ve already made these changes to my routine. And the blush placement? Thank you for bringing that up! It’s important to always take your face shape into consideration. The corner lashes are less intimidating and more natural and comfortable. They really are all that’s needed.
Thanks, Risa! I watch all your videos, but I always come away learning something!! I'm turning 70 (OMG...) in 1 week & I'm guilty of skipping the lip liner a lot. But I know that my lips are much more defined when I DO wear a liner. So, I'm going to make a conscious effort to get lining!!!! Thanks!!
I just turned 70 years young in September and I appreciate all of these tips….even though I no longer wear makeup daily. I really appreciate the “lashes” segment at the end! I’ve never worn or even tried false lashes, but you made me want to give them a try, especially on the outer corner to help lift my hooded eyes. I would try this for special occasions and I am going to buy some inexpensive drug store ones, practice, and give them a try!! Thank you, Risa!! 😉
Risa YOU are definitely the best beauty creator/influencer on here. I watch every single video you post and you've helped me so much!
Love all the tips !!!
Hi Risa. Thank you so much for this very helpful video. I learned some new things & others provided refresher info. I'm 66 & have been giving thought to false lashes. My lashes are not nearly as long & thick as they used to be & I really want to have that boost to my makeup routine! So, lashes will be purchased! Please, please do a tutorial on your eye look... it is absolutely gorgeous! Thanks for all you do for your viewers!!!
Thank you Risa. I’m 54 & do, or don’t do about most of those things. I’m excited to try them. I know I also don’t blend enough. It takes so much time. I have too unsteady hands for lipliner, but use a good lip product that doesn’t move or come off or spread. Luckily someone talked me out of black eyeliner under my eyes years ago, but every other tip you gave I’ll try!! Hopefully I’ll have less cakeiness under my eyes. In all these lines! Have a fabulous holiday season! ♥️ Jessica
Awesome tips. Am 48 and have been applying foundation your way for years. Was happy to see your technique. Ditched the eyeliner under the eyes years ago. I loved your blush tips. I have been using a bit too much lately, too much influence by influencers. Thats why I always return to your channel.
Prescriptives was my first real foundation. My best friend and hero (miss you Daddy) my dad took me to get my custom foundation for my upcoming modeling gig in Tokyo in 1999. I loved everything about prescriptives. The packaging was awesome , they had the most gorgeous and coolest ladies out of all the makeup counters and we're so kind to my dad and I . Dad you were the best dad a girl could have ok im crying missing my dad forgot what I was commenting on. Love your channel !
Oh Risa…. Because of your instructions people say I look great instead of “I like your make-up”
I’m 74 🎉
Yay!!!!! Love it! 🎉🥰
I’m 38, found you through your brilliant hooded eyes video - fantastic tips here everyone could benefit from. I’m coming out of a bb cream/who cares era and back on the “best-life/makeup/I care” train but have to re-teach myself how to properly do makeup and adjust to skin that’s about 10 years older…. So I really appreciated this
I completely agree with the #2 tip using light foundation. When I use foundation that matches me perfectly, I look like a ghost. I usually go the next darker shade that matches me and then I use powder which usually lightens it. When I look too pale, bronzer doesn’t help me. I completely agree and glad you mentioned this!
I love this video! Risa gives great advice.I’m not an MUA, but I have learned a lot from a lot of them. Sometimes, it’s what not to do based on what they did. But I also learned what types of products to use and where to use them and what tools to use. (I still find that a soft or medium toothbrush works well for grooming eyebrows.) For a very long time, I used those white, triangle-shaped sponges to apply my foundation, a powder puff to apply my setting powder, a big fluffy brush to get rid of the excess, and a smaller brush for finishing powder. I’d forgotten, until Wayne Goss reminded me, that a very thin layer of powder before applying foundation makes any foundation look better. Using all the products and applicators takes practice, but I feel it’s worth it for special occasions. I would never go through all of that for everyday makeup.
A clear lip liner can become your favorite tool to keep your lipstick where it belongs. When you get the hang of it, it doesn’t add much time to your routine. Likewise, false lashes get to be so easy to apply that you wonder why you tried every mascara that came out trying to get the lashes you want when “falsies” were available.
Lipliner is a must for me at 58, just as it was at 23 and many years to come!! Definitely a game changer! You always look amazing! Ty for this video ❤
Hello, I’m 62 and for the first time, which was today, I had lashes put on. I was very pleased with the outcome. I went for classic and they look so good. I’m so glad I checked out your video.
I REALLY miss Prescriptives. Their custom blend powder and foundation were awesome. There was another company that custom blended lipsticks. They were inside Nordstrom but I can't remember their name. Prescriptives always had trouble with my custom blends, because my face is B/R and my neck is Y/O, so it was impossible for the foundation to blend in with my neck.
RIP Prescriptives. That was such a cool brand.
Great tips Risa . I just turned 60 in July and I’ll attest to most of these really making a difference.. I just don’t wear lashes because I’m obsessed with mascara .. Great video for us mature ladies ! Everyone actually!!!
I’m 34 but I love your videos and feel like I could use these tips as well. Your makeup always looks flawless.
That was so cool to hear your connection to Laura Mercier.
Thank you, Risa, for these tips! You are so informative & knowledgeable. Your lippy is beautiful today! ❤
Hi Risa. Loved this video and I agree with everything you've said. You are amazing and so thoughtful in your makeup advice. Thank you!!!
Outstanding video and great tips! I wore your Martini half lash for the first time this past weekend for my husband's b-day celebration. Love them! I got loads of compliments on how I looked and referred a few ladies to your lashes.
That’s fantastic! I’m so happy to hear this, thank you!
Love these tips and techniques! Thank you, Risa!
It has taken me a looooong time to stop using harsh black eye liner. I think we get used to looking a certain way and it takes time to readjust if you change something up. Thanks for your great tips ❤
I love this video, informative with tips and advice. I agree with going a darker shade with foundation, I've always done that ❤
Thanks Rissa!! Always great tips!! ❤️❤️
I agree about the slightly darker foundation! It looks so much better
Great video, Risa! I feel like my foundation comes out best when I use my fingers. I’m going to try using a brush tomorrow!
Absolutely brilliant tips..Thank you Risa!!!
Thanks for sharing these great tips.
I appreciate you so much !
I used to love Prescriptives. Another great line gone by.
Great advice and tips Risa, thank you! I’m 64 and only wear skin tints now or super light foundations. Blend blend blend is the key!!!
Great video! Love all the advice!
Great tips!!! So agree with you!! ❤
Risa, I appreciate your tips. I have been used to wearing a very light foundation, plus applying powder with a big fluffy brush on my 67 year old skin.
Thank you for simple, uncomplicated tips!!! These are great! Thank you!
Thanks Risa
Great video, great tips too. 🎉
Happy holidays.
Wow! The small setting brush cs large powder brush for powder after foundation was a game changer! Thank you !!!
Love all your tips and tricks!! Awesome video Risa❤❤
I’m 57 and have learned so much from you over the years. Thank you so much.
You are so welcome! This makes me so happy to hear!
I loved the clips where you show the mistakes 😂
Thank you Risa! Recently I started using a smaller brush to apply powder and then you said the very same thing. Blush application is always tricky for me b/c I have a square face' I have no apple on the cheek.
Great tips, very helpful for me! Thanks for the help! 🥰
3:23 I applied my foundation today over my cream contour & blush, using this technique (but applying on the back of my hand) and it looks great!
Thank you! I recently found you and have binge watched your videos. You are doing a great job teaching us newbies and I so appreciate it.
Love the tips Risa! I use very little powder because I'm pretty dry and it always makes me look cakey. And I JUST came home with some cheap lashes and a couple different glues because I'm gonna get false lash application down if it kills me!! I'm 51 and struggle because I have never worn them but found your videos recently and knew it'd help my hooded eyes.
Hi honey! I’m 51 as well. I’ve been wearing eyelashes for at least 15 years. Just keep trying! It took me a while to get the knack. Try watching TH-cam tutorials with different techniques. That’s what I did. I wear them on the daily! Really makes a difference.
I watch and like all your videos but I really loved this one. I love makeup and don’t feel like I overdo it but I definitely learned some things . ❤
Awesome video. Thank you so much for your knowledge.
Agree. Agree. Agree. Thank you so much for all these tips. Love my rephr brushes so much. I think more people need to look into fude and Japanese brushes. Some can cost way more but many actually cost less than the big brand machine manufactured brushes. Just my little tip. Enjoy the stipple of putting on foundation 💕
This was great Thank you for doing this. Especially liked the foundation matching and application.
You are amazing, Risa! Thank you for this video! Whatching you from Brazil! Happy holidays!
I am going to be 51 years old in June and I am just now buying the my first makeup and brushes that are not from the drug store. It was a little investment but at 50 year old I think it’s time to take the time for self love! Really enjoy your videos :)
Hi Risa! I followed your suggestion with applying foundation and WOW! You were right, my face doesn’t look caked in. My face looks so natural and smooth.
Shoot I’m so glad you gave the blush advice! I’ve tried to apply it the way most influencers say to, for the mature woman that I am. I always still feel the urge to place it a bit lower on my face because I feel I need the color and the brightening to my complexion. Thank you Risa!
You’re welcome! 🥰 Some people just do look better with blush on the apples of the cheeks. Makeup is not one size fits all.
Influencers often post just to get comments. Generally speaking, with makeup it's not a one-size-fits-all approach. 🙂
This is one of the most helpful videos ever! I was guilty of several things mentioned when getting ready for work today. I can’t wait to try your tips! I am like you and have always worn my blush the way I think it should be worn for my face shape! It looks like I apply mine in about the same area that you do. I am glad I got one thing right 😅
Wonderful recommendations and insights for refinement of makeup application. Thank you and Happy Holidays as you celebrate. Much respect here for you.
This was a great video Risa n u explained so many problems that we have with applying makeup. Thank you again I definitely will try a couple ways u talked about .
I totally agree with what you said about blush. I love my eyes when i use lashes, which is very rare, but I struggle with putting them on.
Great tips- thank you Risa!
Thank you, Risa. Merry Christmas 🎄🩷
Excellent video, Risa! Thank you so much ❤
Thanks so much for your tips Risa!
Having hooded eyes, I really have to get into using lashes, especially individual or half ones. Your brand looks just perfect! ❤
Thank you Risa!
I'm 32 this Sunday and a lot of the things I used to do with my makeup look a little heavy especially near my eyes so I clicked to learn some things from the pros ❤️ thank you for your content
Thanks risa I appreciate your recommendations sooo much❤
So helpful... thank you 😊
Great tips Risa thanks for sharing I had learned soo much from you since I found your channel ❤️
Absolutely love this video Risa and thank you so much for this 🫶 I’ve watched your videos for a long time as I really respect your expertise with make up but I also so appreciate your content directed towards +40 women (I’m 50 next year). I’m struggling a lot with what I do now ‘make up wise’ and these tips have given me so many ideas for switching up my routine. Please can we have more of these videos? 🙏🏻 xx
Thank you for this, Risa! I purchased your lashes a while back and love them. I recently gave some to my daughter and she’s in love too ❤
I'm so glad!!
Love all your tips! At 58yrs I already use most of your tips but I have never used lashes! Gonna try thanks to you! Love all your videos!
Great info you shared. I agreed with everything you said. You shared important basics to enhance one's beauty. Thank You!
Great points! I agree with your suggestions
Great video! Thank you Risa❤
Thank you. Great advice ❤
Love that I found your channel, looking forward to watching all your videos and learning many makeup tips from a true expert!
Great tips, Risa! 💙 I click on and adore any videos that are NOT product focused. Goodness knows I do not need to be shopping all the time. 😅
Thank you Risa!!!! I love your videos; they’re like my makeup bible. I’m 52 and you have helped me more than you know.
I’m hoping you’ll do a spring look with drugstore makeup this year (I’m on a super tight budget).
Again, thank you for all you do!!!!

Great video Risa. Very helpful tips! Thank you 🙏 Merry Christmas 🎄
I mix and match and it works fantastically!
The best advice..always!❤😊😊
I’m one of your oldest fans I bet. lol. Almost 66. Still learning. Especially from you. Tape! As a shadow guide. Using shadow correctly to open the eye. I could go on and on. Thank you for teaching. And that gold jumpsuit short.
Thanks, Risa! Very helpful information.
Great tips and tricks! Even though I do most of these things, it was a good reminder to really think about my application and not just slap on my makeup and run out the door!
