Thanks for this step-by-step video. I bought an after-market carb and filter for 15 bucks. I don't have the patience for a carb rebuilt, but it is fascinating to know what's inside.
Thank you for watching!
What do you use in the ultrasonic cleaner to clean your carbs?
What brand did you buy
Good and easily understood descriptions and instructions.
Ray knows the theory as well.
Thanks.
Thank you for tuning in and commenting!
I almost made the same mistake you did by forgetting the screen.
Excellent, thanks. The 026 lives again.
Great to hear that! Thanks for watching!
Great instructional video! Thank You 👍
Thank you for watching and commenting!
Excellent instructions and explanations! ( and hints)
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching!
Another thoroughly enjoyable and informative watch. Prefer to see saws started up on grass or soft ground rather than on hardened concrete or tarmac paths. Thats my only gripe! Greetings from the UK.
Thank you so much and that is a good call. I get lazy and forget to protect them like a should. Thanks for watching friend!
Try starting one on my ground, rocks and stones galore! Have also got a donated 026 which starts, idles runs off choke but bogs in high speed, then is a bitch to restart. R ebuilt carb, checked impulse, cylinder looks ok, compression ok, muffler clean, spark weak but there. .driving me mad maybe new ignition coil? Or leave it chucked at the back of the barn!!
Good work ray
Thank you so much for watching!
Good job.
Thank you and thanks for watching!
Nicely done mate. I am enjoying your chainsaw content. Keep up the good work. All the way from Australia
Australia? Wow! That's awesome. Thank you for the encouragement.
Ty for the video. I just ended up spending a few hours in total over the last three years. I got pissed and gave up three years ago. I pulled the 024 back out a couple days ago. Come to find out the replacement fuel line is wrong. Air leak for the crank seals didn't help. I ended up replacing cylinder and piston crank seals and oem carb. The root of the problem was the fuel line though and a spring on the trigger wasn't installed correctly causing the saw to be at a quarter throttle
Also when I put the air filter on it would kink the fuel line even more and the saw wouldn't start at all
I'm glad you didn't give up. Nice work!
Excellent video, Thank you.
You are welcome!
Why would you go through all of that and not replace the fuel line, impulse line and the fuel filter? Especially with the screen in the carb plugged.
Those were fairly new already but yes you are correct. Thanks for watching!
good vid
Thank you!
👍👍👌
Thanks!
Great video! Gonna try adjusting my saw tomorrow.
Got an 026 AV from a friend of the family. Saw sat fir yrs and wouldn't start. Tried cleaning the carb, started sometimes, but didn't run right.
Ordered, and installed aftermarket carb, new plug, new impulse line, new fuel line and fuel fuel, cleaned the old fuel out and the tank.
Tried starting it and it eint go...
Removed original air filter, spray fuel in the carb and it runs! Not perfect, but it runs. It needs adjustment still. But when I tried putting the air filter on, the saw bogs down and dies. It will not run with the air filter on!
Gonna try ordering a new filter, any suggestions on which ones or ok?
Thanks
P.S.
I think the reason it won't run with filter on is there is a spring that holds the choke flap, and I noticed the spring is missing! This could be an issue for others aswell...
Thank you. Yes I've seen the aftermarket ones cause hard starts and rough running too. Thanks for commenting!
@@RayofallTrades
Should i buy the real Stihl filter, or are there good aftermarket ones?
@@splash5974 stihl is best but I have filed the little white arm/tab a little to make the aftermarket ones work.
@@RayofallTrades ok cool!
I got to get the saw to where I know its gonna run well before I buy a good filter. If it's not gonna run right, I won't waste more money!
HAVING SAUSAGE FINGERS DOES NOT HELP.LOL! @ 14:30 DRIVESME NUTS..
Lol
Great vid 👏,
Any tips I've rebuilt my carb , new spark plug and even a new coil, but still seriously difficult to get it started, once started and warm not an issue , but from co.d 😡. Mines a 020av with a walbro wt15a carb. Many thanks appreciate any advice 🙏
Aftermarket air filter? Usually that's the cause. The multifunction lever doesn't lock all the way down
@@RayofallTrades when you say the multifunction lever do you mean the choke lever ?. Thanks gary
@@garylatto4191 Yes, the choke, fast idle, run and stop lever on the left
@@RayofallTrades my choke is different to the one in your video,
my choke lever just closes off the inlet to the carb, its a new genuine filter and everything seems to be not blocked and everything operating as it should but its just a problem getting it started.
Thanks for taking the time to reply 👍
@@garylatto4191 ah- what make and model?
How old is the saw at the time you worked on it
Sorry but not sure. Probably the 1980’s??
Time consuming is easier to change 30.oo dollar carb
Agreed but sometimes people want to keep oem. Happy Thanksgiving and thanks for watching!
L? 😊
Are you asking about the low jet?
