The lack of matchmaking is _especially_ bad if you're a LATAM player, because _for some reason_ 99% of the south american playerbase plays on the NA lobbies. So if you want to play in the tower, in your own floor, you gotta go in the NA tower and trudge through matches with pings of 150, 200, and upwards, with NO IDEA who is or isn't on wifi. If people made more noises regarding matchmaking there would be chances of it getting improved, tragically that isn't the case the latest complaint has been Sajam with the current video and a few months ago Jiyuna spoke about it too. As a strive hater, trying to give this season a chance, the tower system is so trash. Staying in celestial is a bit of a struggle, but there is zero comparison to it, in floor 10. It'd be like if I got to D5 beating up silvers in sf6, but to get to master I need to fight legend players lol. No offence to the silvers out there. Like why are such lower ranks allowed into 10, but also why is it so easy to climb, but also to fall. Also funny to see Sajam sigh and stuff so much during this. Cause I feel like no matter the rank or player, people be pressing buttons nonstop. I know it is just kind of how the game is played, but geez.
True but it's nothing new and it's not even Strive specific sadly. People defended SF5 launching always online with no content. People defended BBTag DLC. People defended Tekken 7 with no tutorial and bad netcode. Gamers just have no standards and tie their identity to products so they get defensive when those products are criticized, even though improving upon them would make them more enjoyable for EVERYONE.
Despite no matchmaking in GGST, I still haven't encountered one and done players since release day compared to Tekken 8.. Not trying to defend GGST for the lack of innovation, at least I get good matches.
GGST's lame "floors" system and shitty lobbies are the main reason I stopped playing this game. SF6 is sooooo much better in that regard, it makes no sense GGST didn't even try to catch up....

Everyone in the comments are completely ignoring that arc sys has been very vocal about their tower system. The direction was to allow an easier and less intense multiplayer experience for people. That means being able to choose your matches, play with a definitive amount of matches, and explore the levels of strengths at your own leisure bar celestial. I’m not defending it, I have my gripes but arc sys time and time has explained the purpose of tower. There are much more issues with GGST network that is not related to matchmaking. I honestly feel capcom is the only team that truly made a successful matchmaking mode and it started at SFV.
They can explain all they want, it's still dogshit and has no basis in reality. It doesn't even succeed at what it's trying to do because the rank up/down criteria is literal nonsense.
How is Ram STILL in people's mouths alongside Leo, H. Chaos, and Nago for "always been good"? Faust (random example) has never not outperformed her in overall tournament placements, every version! Lots of people play her, like 2 of them EVER get into top 8. Then you bag on Wings of Light because everyone says it's broken but it doesn't work. @@lampad4549 they can keep the tower if they want some wack ass habbo hotel lobby system but for the love of god this game desperately needs an actual ranked mode where you cant just dodge bad matchups and your climb isnt dictated by only win streaks.
"Four Seasons in and still no X" is something you can say about a bunch of things in this game
Menus still look placeholder and the servers are still a mess, but I'm glad I can punish my opponent for pressing something from fullscreen by making them watch a small movie
Short list off the top of my head, still no
- Matchmaking/ranked mode
-frame data
-hitbox viewer
-replay take over
-ability to leave training mode matchmaking without having to back out to the main menu
-consistently working lobby
Theres more you could add im sure. but hey at least we're getting a 3v3 mode no one asked for.
@Slybandito7 Hey Brazil, you guys are getting a brazilian portuguese translation! No, not a dub, just the translation.
@@Slybandito7 the one Isuka player raised his weary head, then realized it's not that kind of 3v3 and went back to sleep, deep in slumber forevermore until the day when Ravens stop airdashing over Potemkin.
hold on i didnt ask for 3v3 but the mode is gas so im with it
@@nds_stylesavvy there's nothing wrong with a 3v3 inherently but considering the basic functions and features that are still missing it should have been a lower priority
it’s honestly insane how the strive developers have just completely neglected to add any key features to the game in four years. any multiplayer game without matchmaking is unthinkable.
playing anything other than long sets with friends in this game is completely miserable and it’s a big reason why i fall off of strive every other month or two of playing. it’s so tedious to get into a game compared to any other game i play where all you have to do is press a damn button.
the lobby system is easily, without a doubt, the worst part of guilty gear strive.
Not really insane, seems that people still play the game regardless if there is no matchmaking.
I dont see how it is misreable, you can get games pretty easily.
@@lampad4549 getting matches is so good everyone in this comment session is complaining about it.
I give you 2 days in latam trying to find matches and you'll change your opinion.
@@lampad4549 Except a lot of others don't. Sajam said in the video that he doesn't play almost exclusively because of it, and its a big reason a lot of others don't still play consistently, like myself. You can get games easily, but there's no way to know if it'll be a fair fun game. I still play the game sometimes, but I and many others would play a lot more if there was elo
@@wolfpacore tbf, strive matchmaking is not very good but I would rather have this that something like lol skewd matching with loosers queue.
I actually started playing ac+R and in the first 10 ranked game s, the closest one with my level was someone with 7000 games played.... And I had 12.
Bottom line: the matchmaking is not good but honestly, when was a macthmaking ever good? For me it's worse the fact that there is no way to check for frame in game.
@@lorenzolombardi3369this comparison is awful. AC+R is over a decade old with matchmaking that was bolted on a few years ago, built on an even older version of Guilty Gear XX. The majority of people left playing it are die hard long timers, of course you won’t find anyone that is also a fresh beginner in the matchmaking pool.
I want to play strive so bad, but between the short matches and network errors, you stay more time outside matches than inside. It also doesn't help that my region's tower died and everyone just went to other regions... real matchmaking would solve even that, because there are tons of players from my region, they're just not using our server.
Slide head doing damage is evil
Factually, all the discource about "Why X character is so broken" would be solved by a skill based matchmaking.
the [character strength/player skill] ratio will push stronger characters slightly higher up in MMR, so a 1800ELO slayer would be a worse player than a 1800ELO zato. But they're both 1800ELO players.
PLS ARC SYS GIVE US MATCHMAKING WITH 3v3 RELEASE
i’ve just accepted that this game is never going to have proper matchmaking. unfortunately, that makes it more or less impossible to take seriously as a competitive game as someone with no interest in becoming a tournament player, but it is what it is.
@@eebbaa5560 well it's not that matchmaking makes it harder to play on the competitive level. After all, you don't have matchmaking when you play brackets. But it does make the casual experience much worse.
I haven’t played in a year as well and after coming back it feels like the servers are somehow worse lmao
They really not, people just blowing a minor inconvience out of proportion, but this is post millenial everybody is a karen
@lampad4549 i have no idea why you're running defense for what is an objectively a very flawed system. no one is denying that hopping on a virtual cabinet is a cool feeling but there are still too many problems with the lobby and tower system that need to be addressed in the first place. and yeah people will complain about it because good netplay is the most important of modern fighting games, what else would anyone buy the game for?
38:20 I can't tell wtf happened here. Did Zato Unsummon, but the animation got eaten by rollback? He was able to block right after Frog, and he got his Eddie meter back, too.
Raw summon, negative edge frog. Dizzy's attack missed Eddie, so Zato blocks (which unsummons Eddie automatically) and the Eddie gauge instantly refreshes
@@Ragness10 That's pretty neat, I didn't know negative edge let Zato do Eddie specials with less recovery. Thanks!
Feels nice to see Sajam playing Strive again. Love watching this game. But yeah, just wish their updates and patches had addressed the very serious problems with matchmaking and general quality of life features instead of giving us a 3-v-3 mode no one will ever take seriously.
36:53 love how the gravity staff was placed just in time to catch the last cube and fling it back from offscreen to Sajam lol
It's wild to think Strive's done as well as it has for as long as it has despite hackerman AND not having matchmaking lol, imagine the timeline where neither of these things were true
Been saying it for 2 years, no ranked mode and tower matchmaking is ass. Dont know how there is no changes still
y'know i hadn't really thought of it until watching this but if you read between the lines the patch notes just say "Fuck that Sajam guy, we're totally changing Sol and Sin and giving Ramlethal a buggy guard crush move"
But they also gave Goldlewis BT cancel so is it really a fuck Sajam patch
The down time finding matches in this game is down bad
recently bought strive as my first fighting game and the no matchmaking stuff really sucks, specially here in latam
idk why it's not talked about as much anymore, how bad the online experience is. maybe i'm mistaken, or maybe people have concluded that it'll just never get better? either way, it's easily the worst thing about this game. there's nothing more frustrating than loving a game that makes itself difficult to play. in beta was one thing but we're 3 years into the life of this game at this point
Either people decided it's just never going to get better, or most of the people complaining about it got tired of being shouted down by people who think Daisuke can do no wrong and his *[Vision]* is immaculate.
@@Ketsuekisan I've been in the community for a while and no one is "shouting down". Is really just that most people have voiced their complaint already, and they still do in most chats. At some point, you let the game speak for itself and don't feel the need to repeat yourself.
@@leithaziz2716 Haters really do be out here thinking they're the silent majority. As a game Strive is great and is still very much Guilty Gear, and Arc Sys simply can't satisfy everyone. They can't satisfy the ones that want it to be identical to Xrd or +R and they can't satisfy the ones who want it to be identical to Xrd but have never played Xrd so don't know what that would be.
Networking issues are obviously legitimate, especially frustrating for custom room online tournaments where it also seems like some sacred rite need to be performed to not upset the networking gods but that is not an intentional design of the game.
@@gwen9939Most of the comments on this video are from people who WANT to play the game and like what it offers, but can't because they struggle to find matches due to the nonexistent matchmaking. I don't think anyone who believes Strive is some major disgrace to the franchise would even care, if anything they'd probably enjoy less people being able to play it.
Fellas the netcode is good but it's not so good that I can play with fckn 6-7 frames of rollback and not feel it.
That's a good point too, I think a lot of people who keep parroting "works for me bro sorry" are forgetting that there's a world outside of America and Japan. In fact the reigning AWT champion is a dude from fucking Senegal, imagine what he had to put up with to grind enough to get that good.
If people made more noises regarding matchmaking there would be chances of it getting improved, tragically that isn't the case the latest complaint has been Sajam with the current video and a few months ago Jiyuna spoke about it too.
Wish more complaints were said on twitter and social media about this matchmaking, doubt there's any hope anymore though
Don't they put out a survey every time they do a developers backyard? I'm convinced they know what we want and just don't care because it would either take too much effort this late in the game's life or someone at Arcsys is stubbornly attached to the dogshit lobbies.
the GGST tower is such a trainwreck
fingers crossed the 3v3 matchmaking is a test for normal matchmaking and we'll get it dropped in soon, its the primary reason i exclusively play offline at grind seshes or after finding someone in the discords to grind with, ladder is so scuffed to find matches in
On slowing down Anji: The ice removes all forward movement from Fuujins and spins. As Anji, playing against a Dizzy that's larping a zoner is very painful.
37:48 You joke... but you are 100% right lol
There's some karmic justice in seeing Dizzy not being able to dash over slidehead anymore. ( Yes it was a thing for 20 years )
That's how I feel when I block Sol's DP and immediately kill him off of it because he can't RC it on block anymore lol.
Game definetly looks better than season 3 gameplay wise since Wild Assault was a mistake. But it's still a meme.
Even 5 years into its lifespan they haven't fixed the matchmaking issues in the lobbies. But at least they stay true to the Mahjong design philosophy so you still explode in three hits. Credit where credit is due.
mtg mentioned
Wings of light is the Azor's Elocutors of Guilty Gear
watching the anji counter super still miss even after the buff hurt my soul
I really love Strive, I finally joined when Elphelt released (been wanting to play at least since Bridget was out) but man...
The match quality can be all over the place, which is something real matchmaking would fix I hope.
Too bad ArcSys is allergic to it...
Print out this comment section and staple it to daisukes door bc how the hell can this game be over 3 years old and be this frustrating to just get into a game. I love strive with all my heart but come on
...I don't think ASW knows what "increasing the number of intersections" means, guys...
Day 1 of asking Sajam to play Dizz… Wait, never mind.
I think this lobby system is neat cause it let's you hunt matchups and whatnot if you're that kind of player. But it's really not great if you're not that kind of player. Which is like a majority of the playerbase lol.
And doesn't help that it breaks half the time lol
Wait…how is it possible that something so basic as matchmaking is left out of Strive?
People defending the dogshit tower system in the comments are legit mentally insane
People crying about it should stfu if Sajam can get matches you can too.
@@Half_Bl00d_H3R0 "Stop complaining about the product you spent 70 dollars on, btw please buy our four seasons worth of DLC"
Not trying to defend GGST for the lack of innovation, at least I get good matches.
if GG had SF6 matchmaking it would be #1 fighting game I mean it is #1 but SV6 matchmaking is just better
Dizzy is so cool

Once again, Elphelt has killed Guilty Gear😞
Squeaky wheel ass move
The first time I played this character, I thought there was a cat meowing outside my front door.
GGST's lame "floors" system and shitty lobbies are the main reason I stopped playing this game. SF6 is sooooo much better in that regard, it makes no sense GGST didn't even try to catch up....

I feel the same tbh. Just for once
Laughed at the MTG comment. Not only does that happen, there's an entire community of gambling morons (sorry, "speculators") who preorder 20 copies of the 5 mana card so they can try to sell them for a profit.
So wild to see people in the comments finally starting to acknowledge the faults in Strive that have been around for years, when the first people to bring them up would just get shouted down for daring to question *[Daisuke's Vision].*
It's literally the same mental mixup, but they got you on Ram.
As a certified Strive hater, I would totally play if they had regular matchmaking lol I can deal with what I don't like about the gameplay, but then the lobby stuff drives me insane.
I want matchmaking but only in Celestial
Love the floor system tbh
Genuinely curious about what aspects of the floor system you like, I can't stand it personally.
@@pootsiii8178it just doesn’t work at all. floor 10 is everyone from people with a good grounding to people with thousands of hours. celestial is a similar clash of people who are just very good at the game and top level pros. it doesn’t work for casuals and it doesn’t work for competitive players
I personally love how volatile it is. If you're on a hot streak you REALLY get to fuck around and find out. I hate how it caps how low you can go so you can't learn new characters as easy, and how you constantly get put into empty rooms and stupid shit like that
@@pootsiii8178 for me personally I have a lot of experience with elo based games and people really overvalue the idea of elo. There are a lot of ways to funnel it especially in 1v1 game and a lot of ways for the development to screw the player invisibility (looser queue in lol)
At least if I'm floor 6, I know I'm gonna find people who are roughly my skill level, if they try to smurf they will quickly be ranked up and won't screw many players.
Actually strives solved a lot of problems with smurfing which is impressive, but still has problems
I frankly don’t care, I’ve sorta just been fine with what I have, the closest I ever even got to matchmaking is tf2, not only is it not in my interest, I’ve never even experienced it 😊
I'll never stop saying it. GG got sold out to the trans brisket crowd that only buys funkos and hoodies instead of playing the game. That's where all the arcsys budget is going. You will never get matchmaking.
Keep saying it with the pfp of a character who cross dressed, it makes it funnier for us
The game had these problems well before they even added Bridget you fucking schizo.
