      We're talking about the ability to queue up for a ranked match while in training mode, right? Strive does have that.

    • @no_nameyouknow
      @no_nameyouknow หลายเดือนก่อน +41

      @@Sharkofspace Yes, but the way that works is you go in training mode, and it puts your little avatar at a station in the tower and someone then comes and challenges. There is no rank, no elo, no SBMM beyond what floor of the tower you are on and it's luck of the draw who you end up matching with oh and rather than getting matched with people from your region, it's just the 32 people in whatever lobby you join into. For lower floors the system is okay but for 10 and celestial it's pretty bad.
      What people are asking for is just matchmaking, everyone is in the same queue and it finds you an open opponent who is closest to you in rank and distance and matches you. It's a bit more complicated than that in reality, but that is the gist of it.

    • @GanguroKonata
      @GanguroKonata หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      @@Sharkofspacein SF6 I can set it to rank and just do whatever in the meantime in game, Strive you're either in lobby or training
      Also if you disconnect there isn't a chance you'll get kicked out of the lobby completely or frozen in time if they get off the cab while you're connecting
      Also also you get actual ranks you get to keep to match with others around your level.
      The idea of being in a big room with a wife range of levels is nice in theory but between needing to win at least 4 straight every month when anything can happen (like Sajam getting terrible connections) makes it more frustrating than fun.
      Why go through all that when granblue is there and you can just get a match quick.

      Replay can’t have rewind in current implementation, it’s just impossible to add rewind without fully remaking replay feature. And they cant just remake replay because it will not support old saved replays.
      Replay takeover should be very easy to implement, but it’s such a random feature, I don’t even know why would you want it. Like how would you even use it?opponent’s button presses are recorded and won’t change when you take over and change yours, so after you make one different move, it will throw off the recording. That’s it, you can use it to change your moves and watch the opponent’s moves make now sense after that

I also doubt that no one likes them because I do, I think they're neat and add character to any game that has them. They just have to actually function and no one will complain. But, hand to god, I genuinely cannot think of an instance where I’d prefer to have Arcsys lobby/avatar system over a traditional matchmaking option. If I’m being generous, maybe I’d give Granblue some slack since they’re clearly trying to do more with it but that’s about it. Stuff like this should never, imo, be the main focus of a matchmaking system. If anything, it should be an option like it is in SF and Tekken; a secondary layer of matchmaking for those who want it. Queuing to match from the main menu shouldn’t dump me in a random tower with 2 other dudes, it should just find me a match

    The funniest thing to me is that the Team of 3 mode they keep working on DOES seem to have more traditional matchmaking. This is probably one of those games/series where the appeal for me is the "soul" of it with the aesthetic, gameplay, music and characterisation which really vibes with me. But the user experience itself does a bad job letting people lean into those strengths naturally when the player constantly has to fight the game with the menus and lobbies.
    It actually reminds me a lot of how people used to view early 3D Sonic games. I completely get why people love Sonic Adventure 2, I still acknowledge it's a bit rough to play and the onboarding experience probably isn't the best.

    • @Ketsuekisan
      @Ketsuekisan หลายเดือนก่อน +8

      I always encourage devs to try out new stuff. While I understand the motto of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it", when you're being an artist you eventually have to experiment, such as with the Wallbreak, fast RC cancels and Wild Assault. Otherwise, you risk hitting burnout considering this series is +20 years old.
      Of course, there is some stuff I do agree on. Mainly the lack of unique outro dialogue exchanges for the whole cast (it's done on an individual case-by-case basis like with Goldlewis, but it's weird). The UI is another part that's just strange. It feels placeholder and I thought it would later be changed. It's a weird amalgamation of ups and downs that, again, feel like how Sonic games work.

      @@leithaziz2716 Haters really do be out here thinking they're the silent majority. As a game Strive is great and is still very much Guilty Gear, and Arc Sys simply can't satisfy everyone. They can't satisfy the ones that want it to be identical to Xrd or +R and they can't satisfy the ones who want it to be identical to Xrd but have never played Xrd so don't know what that would be.
      Networking issues are obviously legitimate, especially frustrating for custom room online tournaments where it also seems like some sacred rite need to be performed to not upset the networking gods but that is not an intentional design of the game.

    As a strive hater, trying to give this season a chance, the tower system is so trash. Staying in celestial is a bit of a struggle, but there is zero comparison to it, in floor 10. It'd be like if I got to D5 beating up silvers in sf6, but to get to master I need to fight legend players lol. No offence to the silvers out there. Like why are such lower ranks allowed into 10, but also why is it so easy to climb, but also to fall.
    Also funny to see Sajam sigh and stuff so much during this. Cause I feel like no matter the rank or player, people be pressing buttons nonstop. I know it is just kind of how the game is played, but geez.

The direction was to allow an easier and less intense multiplayer experience for people. That means being able to choose your matches, play with a definitive amount of matches, and explore the levels of strengths at your own leisure bar celestial.
    I’m not defending it, I have my gripes but arc sys time and time has explained the purpose of tower. There are much more issues with GGST network that is not related to matchmaking. I honestly feel capcom is the only team that truly made a successful matchmaking mode and it started at SFV.
