I noticed Anne of Cleves was missing a ghost. I think she would be spotted joyously driving a luxury carriage through one of her properties while showering people with cash seeing as she was the original #girlboss. They say you can hear the song "All I Do is Win" whenever her ghost approaches.
You never know, she could be walking the grounds of Hever castle, since she was given it as part of her divorce settlement. She was supposed to have been very happy there. Some of the bumps and noises etc that have been reported to happen and thought to be Anne Boleyn, could in fact be Anne of Cleves instead.
I kind of hope the one about Thomas Boleyn having to pay for betraying his children is true. If anyone deserves to spend eternity in torment, it's him.
Once when I was a toddler, my mum and a family friend took me to the Tower of London on a quiet day. I ran ahead into the White Tower and tripped over - as my mum ran over to pick me up, I remember that I looked up and saw two young boys looking down at me and talking - one was laughing, and one was crying and holding a candle. I turned around to ask my mum who the boys were, but since she couldn't see anybody, she just assumed it was two kids who must have run away before she had the chance to reprimand the one that was laughing at me. It wasn't until months later when she was showing me pictures from the day, and I'd learned to talk a little better, that I was able to describe them properly to her and I also remembered their names; Richard and Edward. My Mum obviously freaked OUT, because it wasn't like she'd told her 2 year old about 2 kids that probably got murdered in the building we were looking at, and she'd been with me at the time and knew full-well nobody else had mentioned it, so she contacted the Tower to ask about sightings. Sure enough, it's a common occurrence that kids get tripped up in the White Tower, and that a lot of them also report seeing the boys. Spooky.
So many mothers died giving birth or from that fever after. It's so sad. Thankfully medical advancements solved this. Ghosts are scary but we all have our own spirit so that's pretty much the same.
@@OmmerSyssel Grandpa, please learn some facts: there're tons of female medical researchers. And in the past, men barred women from learning and academic status for the benefits of men, so women could not access the work and if they did successfuly, were not given any credits for their work. Men are coward as hell tbh, not all, but men who think themselves better than women ignoring their own forced privileges sure are.
I think a movie where children say "Bloody Mary" into a mirror, then get carried off to be burned at the stake by a ghostly Tudor queen would be quite entertaining.
Believe that a movie of that ilk has already been made. I can't see Her Majesty, Queen Mary, doing something like that. She was absolutely terrified of the "dark spirits" and their realm.
I actually feel sorry for Mary. The terrible life she had, and now the terrible legacy she has. To be fair her council pressured her to burn them. She thought God was punishing her by giving her a phantom pregnancy and that it was a sign to do that. And then it being said she will reach out of a mirror and drag you is just scary.
Mary definitely had a difficult time with her health throughout life which later lead to her phantom, or even tumor, etc but she thought she was pregnant a couple times. But over and over, that wasn’t the case. Marrying Philip was such a mistake because of the way he treated Mary as well. The only thing I don’t feel bad for Mary is about her burning so many people alive on the stake. Mainly most of them because of their faith. She was a hard time Christian which really made it an uneasy relationship with her younger half brother Edward when he was on the throne. For her defense?! Almost every person who sat on a throne wasn’t without any type of bloodshed. Still wasn’t right, but maybe another thing could’ve been Mary council pressuring her to make that decision.
After being humiliated by her husband, and her “fake” pregnancies. She just kinda lost it towards the end, even with almost signing her half sister Elizabeth death certificate.
she got a cocktail named after her (my favorite cocktail), an internationally known urban legend/children's game... and multiple representations in modern media, which have encouraged millions of people to independently educate themselves about her life and times. her life sucked (as did most people's lives at that time), but i could imagine, if her ghost is looking down on us, she would be pleased to know that, 500 years later, her legacy has endured......... her represtentation in the film elizabeth might be quite offensive to her, but who doesnt want to be memorialized by having a popular cocktail named after them?...... who wouldnt want to be the boogie man in a children's game/urban legend of the future?
irony being her brother killed far more catholics and her father would use a whim of his decision of faith to execute people on whim if it offended his beliefs or they just slightly pissed him off. its horrible 😞 also her father killed ironically more protestants alone in his first 2 decades of reign than Mary did aby one no matter faith yet she's portrayed as being evil.
@@vapidrabbit198 Actually as I think Lindsay states, the children's game isn't about Mary Tudor (the name Mary Worth was sometimes swapped in) and the drink's connection to her is also tenuous. I think those connections were created later to add some extra 'spookiness'- sort of like the popular myth that Ring around the Rosie is about the plague.

I had to rewind several times on that "Gray Lady" ghost...that would scare the ever loving crap out of me and compared to the young woman, it's tall and looks like it has Jack Skellington's face.
Margaret Pole was actually a first cousin of Elizabeth of York, making her an aunt or first cousin once removed of Henry VIII on the maternal side. Her husband was also and uncle or first cousin once removed of Henry VIII on the paternal side
Margaret Pole's life was also a tragic one indeed. It seemed like she tried so hard to submit and conform and do as they pleased. But I think the Tudors screwed her over anyway, more than anyone, and they were her own family members. It's really sad.
@@lonelyronin2428 The Poles marriage was not incestuous. Margaret was related to Henry's mother. Her husband was related to his father. They were not related to each other. Well, not closely enough to be considered incest. Given the times and social circles, probably a cousin relationship somehow. But past second cousin is considered legal, even now.
Of course, Anne could not be candid upon the day of her execution. Her final words are well documented. If she had been able to say exactly what she thought, based on her experience with Henry, she may have said, "don't dare marry this man unless you are certain to bare him a male heir, otherwise thou art doomed".
Not just her fathers marriages but given how moste of the women around her had horrific marriages and relationships with the men in their life one can hardly blame Elizabeth for refusing to marry.
She’s my hero for that. Big middle finger to the patriarchy, decided she didn’t have to follow suit and went her own path. Probably wanted to destroy the past legacy but end it on a high note with a Golden Age and no children to suffer
It’s sad Henry was looking for a reason to get rid of Anne Boleyn because she hadn’t given him any male heirs. He of course couldn’t fathom a female heir. She gave him and the country Elizabeth. She became an outstanding ruler. I think many would say she was far better than her father. He didn’t have to kill Anne if anything he could have just divorced her. Marrying Henry was like playing Russian roulette.
How to describe Bloody Mary: -extreme catholic -burned “heretics” (Protestants) -a cocktail -beheaded an innocent Jane grey -everything is on blame for Henry for a reason -Catherine of Aragon loved her daughter
@°•-beauty subliminals-•° she never felt a mother’s love?! Her and Catherine of Aragon, her mother had a really good relationship. Catherine loved Mary so much.
@°•-beauty subliminals-•° Henry wasn’t the greatest father to most of his children at times, in Mary younger years. Henry was a good father towards her, but after convincing himself that Mary and Catherine must be plotting against him in some type of way after he finally got his divorce/annulment. He just kinda lost it, but same goes for Elizabeth, sometimes it seemed like he was a good father to her for awhile but then later on?! Wasnt. Even Edward, how he treated him in some ways not similar to Mary and Elizabeth. But Edward was the son he fought so hard for even.
@°•-beauty subliminals-•° Not just that, reason why Queen Mary was called Bloody Mary was due to England history being written in Protestant point of view. Queen Elizabeth and King Henry killed more people than Queen Mary did.

Well, I think she wouldn't be in this one since it's about Tudor ghosts. There are probably even more ghosts connected to the other eras of the royal family.

I think the teenage girl seen at Ludlow castle, is not Catherine of Aragon it is more likely to be her daughter Mary.. Mary spent many years there and they were probably some of her happiest years, because when she returned to London she found her life had been turned upside down and inside out. Elizabeth 1st ghost is also alledgely been seen wandering back and forth across the windows of the Gate house of Richmond Palace. The Gate house is all that is left of the once sprawling palace, and it's from this Gate house that Elizabeth's ring was thrown to a messenger charged with taking the ring to Scotland to inform James V1 in Scotland that Elizabeth 1st was dead and that he was now King of England too. I believe this ring had to be sawn from Elizabeth's finger when she died. The ring was such a tight fit that the skin had grown around it, Elizabeth had married England after all.
@@beetlesubaru4198 True, but I think Lindsay Holiday, wanted to concentrate o the English side of the Tudors. Mary QoS certainly gave Elizabeth 1st some headaches but Mary really didn't play such a major part in the English court as such. Elizabeth agonised about the execution of Mary QoS and to be honest I think Mary's death tormented Elizabeth for the rest of her life.
@@mrsdinosaur1009 the worst part is she kept her in captivity for 20 years and never even met her. I like Elizabeth but her murdering her cousin and not even meeting her was just in poor taste and she knew she did her wrong.
I would love to think Henry suffered a long, lingering, painful death to atone for his tyrannical ways. I’m not a fan of Ann Boleyn but I don’t think she committed incest, he was just trying to get rid of her so he could marry again. He blamed the women for not giving him sons, even though it’s the male that determines the sex of a baby. The ghosts are so sad because they died such horrific deaths. Ann of Cleaves was extremely lucky she was named Henry’s sister and lived a very peaceful life. .
Given the amount of unnecessary deaths that continued during the Tudors, it’s quite possible the ghosts of these unfortunate people would be restless. Very sad. Rest In Peace. Amen.
Not to mention, I was also "sighted" strolling down the halls of Fotheringhay and Borthwick Castles, where I spent most of my remaining years. At least, I did not die atrociously ugly like Lizzie. 😂
And you didn't die as a mean, self centered, psychopathic, abusive arse, either, as she was. No wonder so many people tried to assassinate Elizabeth throughout her life. 😂
*closing doors, lighting up the candle, but doesn’t have enough courage to turn down the main lights, wraps herself in blanket* I Heard of the princes in the tower ghosts before, I mean they were even in Black Butler season 1
Don’t mean to be too technical but 2nd cousins refer to cousins who share great grandparents and not grandparents. The cousin relationship you are referring to when one’s cousin has a child is actually first cousin once removed.
As if Monday couldn't be horrifying enough, you uploaded this. I'm gonna have a hard time trying to sleep now 19:22 HELL NO NOW I'M REALLY NOT GONNA BE ABLE TO SLEEP
I remembered seeing an episode of Black Butler where the protagonist met the ghosts of the princes in the tower as they were trying to remodeled it. It was interesting: Ciel (who is arguably the same age as the king if we disregard dearh years) played chess with him in hopes of winning custody of the tower, but lost because spooky ghost manipulation by the king. Ciel had to let his bulter serve the princes while trying to find a way to put them to rest. In that show, the skeletons that was thought to belong to the boys weren't theirs, as they were killed by a knight in full armor and were tossed into a river where they were eaten away by fishes (hence why there's no remains left of them). It was a cool episode
I love history and spooky stuff, so this video was perfect for me! You mentioning the song about Anne Boleyn made me think it would be fun to see a video about historic song origins, such as London Bridge, Sing a song of six pence or Ring-a-ring-a-rosies.
Unfortunately I think she probably won't do this since a lot of the 'origins' people claim for these songs lack proof or are faked (one common myth is that Ring around the Rosie is about the plague, for example, despite the modern lyrics not matching the original song and the plague interpretation only showing up after WW2). So it's hard to research the actual origins since she'd have to sort through a lot of misinformation. But a video disproving those stories might be interesting!
@@morley364 That’s interesting, because I heard of the plague reference in school as well. Also on the show, Horrible Histories, it talks about the song/nursery rhyme, London Bridge, being about an incident during the time of King Canute. However, I remember once reading something else in the past. Honestly any video about this topic would be interesting.
@@MissEliseIsTired Oh I love Horrible Histories! But yeah, the plague one's become really popular unfortunately. I'm really interested in culture that's created and spread largely by children (like jumprope rhymes for example), it's really cool. But since it doesn't involve adults, documentation can be nebulous, especially historically, so it's easy for people to just make things up without others realizing.
I’ve always had a love of ghost stories. I had a book when I was little that had slew of Tower of London ghost stories. It was what created my fascination first of Anne Boleyn and now of all the Tudors. I think that ghosts are basically imprints of energy. That’s why the same ghost can be seen at different locations like Anne Boleyn. She probably left imprints of energy where she had extreme emotions. Just my opinion
Of course it makes perfect sense Catherine Haunts that location where she spent the last moments with the husband who actually gave a damn about her hint it was not Henry
Can you make a video about the life of Edith Wilson? When her husband, Woodrow Wilson, was disabled by illness during his second term, she fulfilled many of his administrative duties.
My sister told me a story that a yeoman told her where he was walking through one of the corridors and saw an apparition of himself he believes spirits could also be recording of living people
I heard that they did find bones in the area thought to have kat Howard, but someone had poured lye on them when burried, so the little that the recovered were so broken down you couldn't tell the age or even the gender
I would dearly love to see a Tudor ghost - maybe a working woman type doing food perp- or one of Elizabeth’s ladies stitching away on one of her wardrobe items
The figure at Hampton Court was not a ghost. It was a man dressed up in a costume, representing the clothes they wore back then, and he was part of a reenactment group that performed for visitors.
If you've ever heard of the bloody Mary game most people think the ghost that appears in the mirror is some girl called Mary Worth but i personally think that the ghost that appears in the mirror is actually that of Mary I of England (Henry VIII and Catherine of Aragon's daughter)
The toddler could be Princess Elizabeth, daughter of Elizabeth of York and sister of Henry VIII. She was a toddler when she died. The other alleged video doesn’t look much like Henry VIII so I don’t know how people think it’s him. I think it could be his son or his father.
literally all the time!! Also don't forget that poor child Katherine Howard or even Catherine of Aragon was done dirty...god Henry ruined so many women's lives...

Both Thomas and Henry deserve to be tormented.
Spooky.
Cool! How did you find out their names?

Ugh, always with the incest! And they wonder why they got all these diseases and medical issues.
@@lonelyronin2428 The Poles marriage was not incestuous. Margaret was related to Henry's mother. Her husband was related to his father. They were not related to each other. Of course, Anne could not be candid upon the day of her execution. Her final words are well documented. If she had been able to say exactly what she thought, based on her experience with Henry, she may have said, "don't dare marry this man unless you are certain to bare him a male heir, otherwise thou art doomed".
I wish that Anne actually said those words along with the medieval variant of "Fuck you, Henry.".
Happy that Elizabeth the first can spend her time with her mother in her ghosthood.
Not just her fathers marriages but given how moste of the women around her had horrific marriages and relationships with the men in their life one can hardly blame Elizabeth for refusing to marry.

Marrying Henry was like playing Russian roulette.

@°•-beauty subliminals-•° Henry wasn’t the greatest father to most of his children at times, in Mary younger years. Henry was a good father towards her, but after convincing himself that Mary and Catherine must be plotting against him in some type of way after he finally got his divorce/annulment.

Funny the video never mentioned that Elizabeth I had Mary Stuart beheaded.
@@beetlesubaru4198 True, but I think Lindsay Holiday, wanted to concentrate o the English side of the Tudors. Mary QoS certainly gave Elizabeth 1st some headaches but Mary really didn't play such a major part in the English court as such. When I was 10, I heard about Catherine Howard's ghost in the Tower and I've been hooked on Tudor history and ghosts ever since!
Can you do the 15 children of George III and Charlotte?
Elizabeth was only age 2 when Anne was beheaded so Elizabeth had little or no memory of her mother.
Of course it makes perfect sense Catherine Haunts that location where she spent the last moments with the husband who actually gave a damn about her hint it was not Henry
