It’s a long list of curses. If every person you abuse, subjugate or hold back once or 100 times, curses you, you’ve got several curses under your belt. Of course, an abuser or bully doesn’t only abuse or bully one person. Of course, it’s a personality trait that extends to everyone. A person who wants to hold others back, doesn’t only do it to one person. He does it to many. One curse is bad enough for karma. Imagine several curses. Must be a living hell for the cursed.
What about the Romanov curse "You began with the death of a tsarevich, you will end with the death of a tsarevich."? That would be a good one that (kind of) came true. Great video Lindsey, you do such a good job of packing so much information into 30-minute videos!
This is mentioned in the film Anastasia, where Grigori Rasputin unleashed a curse that the Romanovs will be gone forever. However, only Anastasia survived.
The one curse I’m surprised hasn’t been included is the Curse of the Braganzas. That one’s exact terms had been fulfilled so many times over there’s almost no one way it ain’t true
I'm a little surprised that the Romanov curse wasn't in this video. But these are all wildly interesting to learn about in their own right. It's always interesting to me when curses like this are somewhat proven
Ravens are not evil! They are beautiful and extremely intelligent creatures, along with the crows, jays, magpies, rooks, and jackdaws. Did you know that they have the intelligence of a 7 year old human, can recognize and remember faces, pass knowledge down generations, mimic human speech, solve puzzles, along with many other things? They also know their reflection in a mirror, something previously thought was only possible with humans and some apes, and they also understand water displacement, and can practice self-control if it means they get a better reward. A lot of rescued crows and ravens have a deep bond with their caretakers. Anything but evil.
My uncle, a minister and hunter, accidentally adopted a crow once. It stayed with the family for several years, and was quite a character. Corvids are very clever creatures.

You forgot the curse from the Knights Templars to King Philip IV of France. Legends say that as Grand Master Jacques de Molay was burning at the stake in 1314, he cursed Pope Clement V and King Philip, saying that the Pope and King will die within a year and a day, and his bloodline would rule France no more. They both died later that same year and all 4 of Philip IV's direct descendants died relatively young and with no male heirs: Louis X in 1316 at age 26, his posthumous son, John I, in 1316 at age 5 days; Louis' brother, Philip V , in 1322 at age 28, and Philip's brother, Charles IV, in 1328 at age 33; thus ending 300 years of Capetian kings.
There is also a legend/curse from a Croatian king. Many many years ago king Zvonimir was killed by his people and cursed the nation that they will never or will not have for a long time, a leader of their own blood. That was true in the end because after that Hungarians, Italians, Austrians etc. rulled over us until Yugoslavia and in the end Croatia today as an own republic. Until then we were always under foreign rule. Almost 1000 years.
You forgot to mention the Curse of the Braganza Dynasty of Portugal. Legend has it that because King John IV of Portugal kicked a Franciscan friar while he (the friar) was begging for alms, said friar cursed King John IV of Portugal, such that no firstborn male heir among his descendants will ever live long enough to sit on the Portuguese throne. In fact, with the exception of Kings Peter V and Carlos, no King of Portugal from the Braganza dynasty has ever been the firstborn son of his predecessor. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Curse_of_the_Braganzas
I always personally found Marina Mniszech’s supposed curse on the Romanoff family spooky. Although it’s more of a rumour than anything, I could imagine her cursing the dynasty to end with the death of a Tsarevich after what they did to her family. Also, didn’t Nicholas and Alexandra have to open some secret document when the Romanoff family celebrated 300 years on the throne after which they were said to become very disturbed, or was that tied to the assassination of Paul I (or again, just a myth)?
This is a true story: In 1952, Mayo won the GAA Sam Maguire Cup. (Mayo are an Irish football team who won the All-Ireland cup in 1952). While celebrating, the team passed through a village where someone had recently died. They didn't stop their celebrations. So the priest said something like "I curse you to never win a cup again u til everyone on your team dies". All of the players witnessed the priest say this. Mayo have made it to 18 finals since then. They havent won a single final since that day. There is one player alive on that team.
Actually surprised the Hessian curse wasn’t mentioned, but I guess there’s no cause, just three generations of bad luck. Grand Duchess Alice and her daughter dying of diphtheria five years after her younger son died of hemophilia. Then her granddaughter Elisabeth dying young, another grandson Heinrich dying of hemophilia. Then her daughters Elisabeth and Alexandra and Alexandra’s husband and children murdered during the Russian Revolution. And finally, only a month after her son Ernest died, his wife, son, daughter-in-law and two grandsons die in a plane crash in the way to his second son’s wedding. The second son adopted his brother’s baby daughter who wasn’t on the plane, only for her to die a year later of meningitis. The second son and his wife never had children of their own and that line of the family ended up extinct. So much tragedy in one family. Even more if you consider Louis Mountbatten being a Hessian descendant on both sides of his family and he and his grandson were killed in an IRA bombing. His sister Louise lost her only child in childbirth too.
That's a curse that I never had heard about. When did it begin? I just thought what happened to the Hessien was a coincidence. Never realized it was a curse.
The Prince certainly doesnt love her but at least he seems like a good father to all his children. I think anyone should take great pause before marrying into any royal family, they can be abusive and you cant say anything because of how they are structured and for this particular family, their massive wealth and power enables them to get away with anything.
As someone who is a Nepali and grew up hearing about the royal family and all it’s history, the one i was told in school was that of gorakhnath and the curd is that when the curd fell on his feet the god foretold that if you had eaten the vomited curd any place you dreamed of conquering would be conquered but as it fell on your feet only the places your feet has touched would be conquered. The end of the dynasty was actually foretold in two parts. One where I don’t remember where exactly but there was a prophecy that the dynasty would end in 10 generations. Another was the curse of Sati. It was a curse placed on by the wife of Bhimsen thapa the first prime minister. She cursed Nepal to suffer with political, economic and social problems forever. She cursed Nepal never to be developed and also that anyone person who will try to good in this country will suffer.
The curse was not placed by bhimsen thapa wife but rather was given by the wife Bhima Malla who was a minister for the malla kings who was really influential and so the other ministers conspired against him and he was executed. Then his wife gave a curse while going sati that anyone who tries to do any good for this country will see their own downfall and this county will never prosper..

The Habsburgs had consanguine marriages for centuries. Such incestuous relationships result in birth defects, stillbirths and a higher infant and childhood mortality rate. I read somewhere that about 80% of their marriages were consanguineous, and sometimes, they were related to each other in multiple ways. Charles II of Spain/Carlos was a nephew and cousin as well as the son of his parents,
The Grimaldi situation doesn't surprise me. Try to find one arranged royal marriage that couldn't have been described as unhappy in some way. It's only impressive that it advanced into modernity. The Karolyi curse was the most chilling in my opinion because each word came true.
6:38 It makes me glad to know that Alice was able to walk away. Yes, she was a highly privileged woman, but it still makes me glad to know that even in tougher times, some still walk away.
I mean, refusing to drink someone's vomit doesn't make you selfish. If I was in that position, I'd definitely refuse to drink that too. You should have mentioned the Romanov curse. Allegedly, Rasputin said to the last Russian ruler: "Tsar of the Russian land, when you hear the bells ringing, informing you of the death of Grigoriy, then know: if assassins kill me, Russian peasants, my brothers, then you, the Russian tsar, have no one to fear. Stay on your throne and reign. But if your relatives committed the murder, then none of your family, that is, children and relatives, will live longer than two years. The Russian people will kill them." and we all know what happened to the Romanovs two years after Rasputin died.
Eh, that's not a curse, Rasputin was just not dumb and the Russian people were extremely angry for a long time. There were plenty of attempted and completed assassinations of members of the Romanov family in the years before the revolution. That was like cursing a football player with aching legs.
I clicked so fast. Thanks Lindsay Holiday. I believe it, Sophia Patrillo was right. Curses are real. My opinion, the curses were punishment for the abuse of power towards the innocent by evil royals & nobles within the establishment. It's tragic but as tragic as it is, the biblical saying is true, "You reap what you sow". Blood needlessly spillied.
I read Philippa Gregory's "The White Princess" a few years ago. If Elizabeth Woodville and Elizabeth of York did indeed cast a curse of the male line of the Tudor dynasty dying, it indeed came true since Prince Arthur (eldest son) and Henry VIII's eldest son (his first son with Catherine of Aragon). Edward VI died and the reign of the Tudors ended with Elizabeth I.
In her novel The White Queen, which takes place before The White Princess, Elizabeth Woodville is seen casting spells with her mother, Jacquetta of Luxembourg. In reality Jacquetta of Luxembourg claimed to be a descendant of a "water god" and she was tried for witchcraft, but was cleared of all charges by her son-in law King Edward IV.
Actually the Tudor line continued through Margaret Tudor the eldest daughter. Her granddaughter was Mary, Queen of Scots whose son James became King James who succeeded Queen Elizabeth.
Just to be exact: the picture of Sissi's allegged Hungarian lover at 19:19 in the video shows German poet Heinrich Heine, Sissi's favourite poet. The Hungarian politician meant here is Count Gyula Andrássy, who had deep emotions for the queen from the first time they met, and wrote several letters to her. Sissi also wrote letters to him, which did not survive. Still, Sissi was never unfaithful to her husband, though her haters spied on her wherever she went, but even they could'n find anything against her. "Many rumors suggest that Count Andrássy had a long lasting romance with Elisabeth, Empress of Austria and Queen of Hungary, also known as Sisi, the wife of Emperor Franz Josef I of Austria-Hungary. Some rumored that Sisi's fourth child, Archduchess Marie Valerie of Austria, had been fathered by Andrassy. There is no evidence for this, and these rumors have all been proven to be false.[citation needed] The rumor may have evolved due to the devotion of both Sisi and Count Andrássy towards Hungary, its culture and national customs (she was fluent in Hungarian, and both regarded Hungarian poetry highly), and the amount of time they spent together in mutual pursuit of their dreams for Hungary. Additionally, as Marie Valerie grew up, her physical resemblance to her father Franz Josef became very marked. (Wikipedia)" The fact that Gyula Andrássy was regarded by many as the "most beautiful man" of his time may also have contributed to the gossip. upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/6/68/Andr%C3%A1ssy_Gyula_foto.jpg/315px-Andr%C3%A1ssy_Gyula_foto.jpg
The worst curse hit the Romanov's family for the terrifying genoside of the Kyrghyz people in 1916, whose land was a Russian colony at that time. The Tsar's soldiers committed horrifying atrocities among the Kyrghyz people for their refusal to send their sons to the Russian army to participate in WWI. About 25 000 people died as a result. I am an old woman, as a child I heard terrible stories that my grandma and her old friends would tell about how their relatives and neighbours died during the reids of the tsar's soldiers. During the Soviet times my people were prohibited to mourn this greatest tradegy of 1916. The curse of the entire nation couldn't, but end in that terrible murder of the Romanovs.

I found it weird that Grace Kellys wealthy building family had to pay 3- million to Gromaldi as a dowry. Grace Kelly father refused and Grace Kelly who had done a few films by then had to pay the three million herself --- as it was not a love match but a marriage of convenience. I found it odd - Grimaldi went back to his extra marital affairs within a few months of the wedding. What on earth did she marry him for - imagine having to pay someone to marry you. 3-million She must have wanted to be a proncess really badly. He ignored her mainly but she adored her children & she had got a male heir who has proved to be a philanderer and he had two children out of wedlock, i think two black children but he has acknowleged them. But the South African Olympic swimmer hes married had twin a boy and a girl but she tried to run away before the wedding but after going to South Africa as she had an infection. But she cane back to Monaco - one assumes there has been an arrangement. A beautiful lady in a prison. Terrible but a pattern repeat of Grace Kelly. Peace out.... ☮️
I think Grace had a strong sibling rivalry with one of her sisters who was her father's clear favorite. A strange reason to marry someone who doesn't love you as she did have co stars in Hollywood who were reportedly in love with her. Possibly karma for having love affairs with married men?

Ya gotta love curses (or animal cruelty = enmity).....the Hapsburgs "became even more powerful and continued to spread their rule and power for the next 400 years...but the ravens were not happy" (so WATCH OUT powerful, rich family !!)
27:42 The ranas were high caste people. Queen Awishoria herself was a Rana before marriage. her branch of family and Devyanis branch of family had enimity over the prime minister post in which the queen's side of family had lost. In addition, Devyani was richer than the royal family which could invite the loss of reputation.
That's how I first became familiar with the Grimaldis. I used to listen to the song when I was in middle school and wondered who did the female vocals on it.
The curse with the Hapsburgs is totally believable. Ravens are incredibly intelligent. They have been known to pass what they have experienced to their decedents. Like my grandfather. When I was little, back in the Georgia woods, ravens had it out for him. We'd be outside playing, going in and out of that little shack, anything. But as soon as that old '55 Ford pickup hit that back road towards that shack, the whole scenery changed. The sound of wings fluttering towards the trees where they'd sit and wait for him to get out. He'd get out of the pickup with a old WWII green wool blanket over his head, lunch pail under one arm and hauling ass to the backdoor. Us kids didn't dare laugh because grandpa's pimp hand was strong. 😅 Family laughs about it today and whatever he did to piss off ravens is lost to time.
When you're talking about Sissi's alleged affair with a "Hungarian politician" (it was count Andrassy), you are showing a picture not of him, but of German poet Heinrich Heine. A bit misleading, just saying :)
This reminds me that I heard the Romanovs had like 2 that allegedly came true with their fate after the revolution. 1. Apparently Marina, the Polish wife of one or both of the False Dimitris, iis considered a witch in a Russian legend and cast a curse on the Romanovs following his son's execution by the 1st Romanov tsar saying that "it began with a child's death and with a child's death it will end" (or something similar, I can't recall exactly) 2. The famed Rasputin who warned the tsar that if the Russian peasants killed him, he wouldn't have anything to fear, but if the nobles did, they would die in two years.
I think it’s more of a coincidence’s. That monarchy was simply not set up to win revolutions or last forever. The last tsar was probably always going to be assassinated, the horrific execution the whole family faced had more to do with the ambition and righteousness of the revolutionaries who wanted to take over the country rather than reform it after the tsar abdicated. They saw it as the only option, that had more to do with their ideologies than with a curse. And there is nothing mythical about Rasputin, people were always predicting and talking about the fall on a regular basis for years.
@@Angel-ts8rcyou are right. It is amazing the Romanovs even lasted over 300 years. Queen Victoria viewed it a risky unsafe dynasty to marry into. She was against he granddaughter marrying the Emperor as you likely know. But the house of Hesse seemed doubly cursed. They also believed Romanovs who married Hessian brides were all cursed to death. Emperor Paul, Alexander II, Nicholas II and grand duke Sergei all married Hessian brides and died. The last two Hessian brides would also be murdered as we know too.The 'cursed' Hessian-Romanov marriages was one reason the family was against Nicholas marrying Alix and argued the case to Nicholas. The whole family 'curses' and 'prophesies' are fascinating.
@@Angel-ts8rcit's not even a coincidence, it's just simple probability. Most dynastic changes in Russian history happened through assassinating the tsar and their heir (aka child) and the wider Romanovs had been the victims of assassinations for years before Rasputin was said to have said that.

@@CareyKuhlmey-qj5viINDEED!! Hundreds of the Knights Templar were arrested Friday, Oct. 13, 1307, by order of France's Philip IV. The event is sometimes credited for being the origin of *_the Friday the 13th_* superstition. While burning on the pyre, De Molay cursed King Philip IV of France, his descendants, Pope Clement V, and everyone else who supported his death. De Molay said that within a year and a day, Clement V and Philip IV would die. He also said Philip's bloodline would reign in France no more. Whether Molay’s calling for revenge at the point of an agonising death had any actual effect as a curse against his persecutors is debatable but in an extraordinary coincidental turn of fate or bad luck, Pope Clement died just thirty-three days after Molay’s execution. Seven months later King Philip himself became gravely ill and unexpectedly passed away on the 29th of November. Over the next decade, the Capetian dynasty of which King Philip was a part of staggered to its end as each of Philip’s childless sons briefly became King and died. Whether or not one believes in Jacques de Molay’s curse as divine retribution there is no doubting the calamity France faced after the Templars’ downfall as the Kingdom’s internecine convulsions led to the Hundred Years’ War with England (1337 - 1453). The descendants of King Philip became known as the *_‘Accursed Kings’_* reinforcing the mythology revolving around Jacques de Molay’s curse.

Here's another curse : Prince Leopold of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha (future King Leopold 1st of Belgium) was then the husband of Charlotte, Princess of Wales. Refusing to give some money to a gipsy woman, was told that he will become King somedays (inconceivable back then), and his line will never know more then 3 father to son direct succession until the end of his royal house. That will become with the accession of the, now, Duchess of Brabant, King Philip's daughter. She will be Belgium' s first Queen Regnant , thus becoming the last Saxe-Cobourg- Gotha to reign over Belgium
The Queen Catherine Charlotte, with her many paramours reminded me of the woman, I think was Roman, who said she "never took on a passenger without a full cargo". So she knew who fathered her children.

A person who wants to hold others back, doesn’t only do it to one person. He does it to many. One curse is bad enough for karma. Imagine several curses. Must be a living hell for the cursed.

@LightYagami-xl1wz. I agree with you. I throw a lot of bird food in my backyard and they always pay a visit. I love them and all birds!

Well damn I'm croatian but never heard of that
You forgot to mention the Curse of the Braganza Dynasty of Portugal.

That's a good one for a future video!
Very interesting, I didn't know that ! Thank you for telling !
And Pedro V died really young without descendants and his brother was the one to rule the throne. And Carlos and his heir were murdered.
That's fascinating. Never knew that. Thanks for the link.
This is a true story:
In 1952, Mayo won the GAA Sam Maguire Cup.
Wow!😮

All of that is so tragic to happen in 1 family. Didn't Prince Harry name his son after Mountbatten?
The current Grimaldi princess is most certainly a victim of domestic abuse. I feel for her.
Yeah she looks miserable in every single picture
She never looks happy in her pictures.
The Prince certainly doesnt love her but at least he seems like a good father to all his children. I think anyone should take great pause before marrying into any royal family, they can be abusive and you cant say anything because of how they are structured and for this particular family, their massive wealth and power enables them to get away with anything.
Her face on her wedding day still sticks in my mind.
One has to worry about Albert's children, ESPECIALLY the elder twin daughter as she's not the heiress
The earthquake didn't help
Time for that curse to be broken.
Gandhari cursed same to Afghanistan..
The most ridiculous curse of all I think. Who'll be so pleased to drink the vomited drink from another guy? It's disgusting 🫣

Charles II of Spain/Carlos was a nephew and cousin as well as the son of his parents,
Very unfortunate young man with all those medical conditions.
Lindsay made a two-part video series on the Habsburgs! One for each branch.
@usefulcharts also did a video on them.
Kaiser Franz Joseph and Sissy were cousins. They did not learn from the past. Power and riches were more important.
Well the Hapsburg did have a non branching family tree. Uncles marrying nieces, aunts marrying nephews for quite a few generations.
Yes, this goes on in many royal families but is especially pronounced in the Hapsburgs and the Ptolemys of ancient Egypt.
The Grimaldi situation doesn't surprise me. Try to find one arranged royal marriage that couldn't have been described as unhappy in some way. It's only impressive that it advanced into modernity.
The Karolyi curse was the most chilling in my opinion because each word came true.
Hapsburgs interbred within their close families-cousins/nephews/nieces, etc. That was their downfall!
Yeah I mean, I think third cousins can marry because there is some distance genetically but being too closely related can cause lots of issues.
Yes, their inbreeding has been their curse, not poor ravens 🙄

@@shrekshyakhadka honestly i also grew up hearing the same version in school.
That's not a history book, majority is fiction based on imagination of the author.
@@Izka3gChupaChups that's why I said "did".

3-million
She must have wanted to be a proncess really badly.

I know! The several curses on the romoanivs like that polish noblewoman, marina mniszech. It came true too. I know there are several others
This reminds me that I heard the Romanovs had like 2 that allegedly came true with their fate after the revolution.
1. Apparently Marina, the Polish wife of one or both of the False Dimitris, iis considered a witch in a Russian legend and cast a curse on the Romanovs following his son's execution by the 1st Romanov tsar saying that "it began with a child's death and with a child's death it will end" (or something similar, I can't recall exactly)
Emperor Paul, Alexander II, Nicholas II and grand duke Sergei all married Hessian brides and died. Surprised you didn't mention Jacques de Molay's curse. It's probably the most metal.
They did mention it with the the French king and his pope , didn't they? Knights Templar?
I thought she said that Charles knocked his mom up for a second. That would've surprised me even for the Habsburgs.

That will become with the accession of the, now, Duchess of Brabant, King Philip's daughter. She will be Belgium' s first Queen Regnant , thus becoming the last Saxe-Cobourg- Gotha to reign over Belgium
Where did you get the information from?
Princess Charlotte of Wales was Queen Victoria's paternal first cousin, while King Leopold I of Belgium was Queen Victoria's maternal uncle.
@@domylovric5600 I'm at where does the information about the curse come about.
@@augustopinochet. Oh?
Hey uh g*psy is a slur for the Romani people
Cursed for not ingesting vomit?! Disgusting.
I'd prefer to be cursed, thank u.🤢
I love the international history videos!
The Queen Catherine Charlotte, with her many paramours reminded me of the woman, I think was Roman, who said she "never took on a passenger without a full cargo". So she knew who fathered her children.
Moral of the story "don't piss off the birds"
22:40 I'm from Bosnia, and we were taught that Gavrilo was not quite 18 and at that time, all the other members of young Bosnia were all sentenced except Gavrilo because they were waiting for him to turn eighteen.
My mom, aunts, and uncle were also from Bosnia and moved to Croatia during the Bosnian war.
Ravens showing up to an execution, when those always were at the same place, is the least weird thing ever.
