As a female, my advice for shy guys 1) be careful that you don't get preyed upon by toxic people (users/abusers/time wasters). Study psychology yourself, so you can spot them and their tactics easily. Have boundaries in place before they try to test/violate them. What you will and won't tolerate. 2) stop the negative self talk and speak more kindly about yourself and others. Often people have a higher opinion of you than you do. 3) practice taking risks and give yourself daily challenges outside your comfort zone e.g. make a stranger smile today. By being in competition with yourself like this, you will see how capable you really are and this will boost your confidence. 4) DO NOT go through other people e.g family or friends to find out if she is single/if she's interested in you/if she would go out with you. Most people will always block you from getting near her. They will more often than not, instantly respond with "no she's not interested!" without consulting the female beforehand. This is not the playground. If your a man, be a man and handle your own private business yourself directly. That's what grown adults do. Don't allow others to ruin your chances. 5) remember that just because you feel shy doesn't mean that you can't have extroverted moments. With the girl you like, over the course of time, gradually build rapport step by step: be in her line of vision, get her attention (depending if she's in her own world or not this might take awhile), make eye contact, smile, say hello, chat, ask her if she would like to hang out sometime. Most females want you to approach them or at least meet them half way. Regret is worse than rejection.
I've had many opportunities for good relationships but have torpedoed (ruined) them usually at the onset. I have severe chronic pain for many years and it so hard to pretend you're happy and smiling all the time. It's kinda like the old saying. WHEN YOU LAUGH THE WHOLE WORLD LAUGHS WITH YOU WHEN YOU CRY YOU CRY ALONE. I'VE ALWAYS tried to hide my medical issues from everyone. Now I talk to anybody about them. Many people say it helps them.
