      Mythology & Fiction Explained 🎒💭🦊⚖️🦋

    • @StarWolfKing
      @StarWolfKing 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I have a question. Are there any stories about gods and goddesses from one mythology interacting with one from another mythology? Say like Anubis speaking to Zeus? I bring this up out of sheer curiosity? In a religious story about the end times there was the story of Jesus defeating the Greek gods and throwing them into Hades. Even the lord of the underworld fell to the fate of a second death. Of course in those stories the nine gods and goddesses are often seen in many mythologies and religions alike as the nine generals of the Devil and Satan himself the tenth head of a red dragon. Just passing thoughts to look into.

    I love Themis! The first time I got introduced to her is in the very first comic book I bought when I was young. The Teen Titans, back in the 80's, where the Titan Thea is attacking Olympus for revenge. The line that Themis said in that book I still remember. She stated, "We are not gods because we created the universe. "We are gods because the people worships us as such!" 😁

    The three-legged seat represents that for there to be an impartial judge you need a minimum of three moral actors. When you have only two actors is always a contest of will and power between the two. With the addition of the third actor, for disagreements between any two, a third actor has the greatest potential to be impartial.

    • @patrickmcpherson97
      @patrickmcpherson97 5 ปีที่แล้ว +28

      You have to understand, that Hera's mistreatment of Zeus' lovers was only because she couldn't punish him; since he was more powerful than her. And that besides being the queen of the gods her primary function was as the goddess of marriage. And because of that she punished those that she could. I personally would have loved to see what she would do to Zeus if she could, but justice was never her main function. Blessed be.

    Interesting that a titan of reasoned justice, a woman, bonded with power to counsel Zeus. By the time Hera married him, his random interventions into the lives of humanity and her whims of human intreague, serves to reveal the deminished stature of Olympus. Athena, the feminine genius of wisdom appeared directly from the split skull of Zeus. Thank Themis for whatever engrams that remain coded in the previous mind of the Greek collective unconsciousness. To ascribe wisdom as emanating through the interactive influences of the feminine, as is fearless in its unwavering comportment to fairly weigh and assess reaity is a more truthful consideration than to equate the female with chaos itself. For the Greeks to invested in wisdom as an arbiter of power, even in the unknowable gods of the sky, sea or the underworld, is that culture's gracious gesture. But our humanity plays out here on this planet, in this very moment, and it is we, through our affinity with the blind Themis who still converse and ascribe meaning to the Greater Good.

      She sided with Zeus during the Titan War. I assume this was due to Cronus doing wrong by eating his children.

    Thank you for mentioning her marriage to Zeus. I read about it awhile ago, and forgot the source. As a practicing witch/wiccan I mentioned it to someone I know and they thought I made it up, since many only know of his marriage to Hera.

      It is understandable that most people only know about his marriage to Hera, considering that it is only of the few things that are always consistent in classical mythology. unlike his previous marriages (if we can even call them that) which are only mentioned in Hesiod's Theogony and nowhere else.

    She is based on the African Goddess Maat. Also she represents the heart chakra and the number four.

    There is a story about the Trojan War where Zeus and Themis planed it together to deal with the problem of overpopulation because it could lead to chaos, it was one of her ways of maintaining balance.
