    Congrats! I am thankful for the information so much. I am 26 yo and my dentist said that I have to wear braces. I am embarrassed to do it at this age but now I feel not alone:)

    Yay! Congrats on getting your braces off. :) I hated my braces.. I'm thankful for them, but at the same time they made me very uncomfortable and I was in a lot of pain. I only have one wisdom tooth, and 2 of my baby teeth didn't have adult ones growing behind them either, so my doctor decided to pull my 2 baby teeth (which were exactly on top of each other) and pull the matching 2 adult teeth on the other side too, to create more space and make it even. The whole process was incredibly painful and afterwards they found out that they had created TOO MUCH space and they needed at least an extra year to pull all my teeth to the front. Now that my braces are out I still have way too much space between my teeth at the back, which is very annoying and hard to take care of. So basically: I feel your struggle. :D On one hand you're grateful for being able to get your teeth fixed, but on the other hand it's such a hassle and very painful and super hard to keep up with. I hope you're doing well now and everything will be fine in the future. :)

      1) I’m excited to hear another person also didn’t have adult teeth behind some baby teeth but 2) what an ordeal!! Glad you’re done with it now but sorry you still experience some discomfort. Thanks for sharing your story with me :)

    i was never embarrassed abt having braces... i loved it wore it from 2008 - 2010... they had to extract 4 adult premolars so the gaps were visible when i smiled but they closed up pretty quick though my situation was not as complex as yours... I love knowing abt everyone's braces journey coz once upon a time i wanted to be a dentist specializing in orthodontics... :) i'm glad things hv sorted out for you thus far... you look great with braces and of course even better without :)

    Just got braces put in today! Baby tooth + impacted upper canine. Apparently my orthodontist thinks it's possible to expose/bond and drag down that impacted canine (I'm 28). We will see!

      Can you please share the results? I'm 21 and my dentist assumes it's too late to bond and drag it down

    • @fifib2275
      @fifib2275 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’m 26. Got braces on Feb 3 to drag down the impacted canine (it was naturally exposed above my baby canine so I didn’t need a surgery for that). I’m seeing movement in the tooth. My orthodontist says that it’ll take about 3 months to get it down to the rest of the teeth level.

    Thank you so much for this valuable experience. Really helped cz even I am getting braces in a few months 🤗
    It might look unusual and uncomfortable in the beginning but I'm damn sure that the results will be worth it! A beautiful natural smile 😍 Waiting for that very moment of my life 💕

    What kind of food did you eat in the early stages of getting your braces? And how long did it take until you were able to eat normally again?

    • @bykchoi
      @bykchoi  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Soft foods like mashed potatoes and soup! Then stuff like pasta (could still be chewed easily). Hmmm maybe about a month or two? I just got into the habit of cutting everything into small pieces when eating (and not really biting into food directly)

    Thanks for sharing your braces story Kchoi! I got braces 6 months ago. I'm 20 and I kinda have the same baby canine tooth situation. The only difference is that I don't have the impacted/permanent tooth. Unfortunately. 😔

    • @bykchoi
      @bykchoi  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Omg, there IS someone out there with a similar situation! And it’s actually fortunate you don’t have the impacted tooth because then you don’t need to get surgery!! :) Good luck with your treatment!

    I’m three years late but I’ve recently found out that I have an impacted canine! For most of my life I believed I didn’t have an adult tooth and would be stuck with the baby tooth. Turns out, there’s a big tooth up there haha! My dental journey begins, I’m tired of having lots of dental issues! I’m in my late 20s so I gotta get it moving!

    I had braces when I was 13 to 16. Hated them when I had them mostly because they were restricting and annoying. They weren't considered negative when I had them though, nobody ever said anything. When they took them off, did your mouth feel weird?

    • @bykchoi
      @bykchoi  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      yes it feels so weird! i think it feels extra weird cuz i'm still waiting to get the 2 implants but once those are done it'll be complete!

    • @oursavior9883
      @oursavior9883 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      lol yeah. It is all worth it in the end. I looked at one of your old videos before braces, and they looked fine, but the braces defo just straighten them perfectly.

    You have a lovely smile! You sure have had a lot of things done to your teeth. I didn't know some people could be stuck with their baby teeth. Nothing major for me, was just removing my 1 wisdom tooth.
    Btw, this past weekend at like 12am after going out with friends; I was like, hmmm I really wonder if I can make curry ketchup. Omg, I did when I got back to my friend's place. Curry powder + Ketchup + Lime = tastes amazingly well believe or not.

    Thanks for this video! I'm strangely in a very similar situation, need to get braces as a 24 year old, getting the metal ones only on my bottom teeth and moving to the UK for a year!! hahah, so helpful, thanks

  • @EppingForest304
    @EppingForest304 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Nice teeth! 👍 How much will your implants cost? In the UK 🇬🇧 they cost around £2k each, which I think is very expensive, & apparently should last 20 years if u look after them properly.

    • @bykchoi
      @bykchoi  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Costs about the same in the US 😔 but I either do it now or my baby teeth might fall out at some point because of the short roots

    My right canine never came down, so there's a gap. Well, maybe I don't even have it up there. I also have very small lateral incisors And smiling with my teeth is not something I'm confident about.

    Also I had some kind of baby tooth that was high up on my gum where it shouldn't have been and I had to have some sort of oral surgery and I remember stitches. I think that was...before I had the braces put in. Decades ago = blurry. lol.

    • @bykchoi

    Well I'm one of the 2% I'm worry about the pain of bringing the permanent cannine were it needs to be , any advice?🤔

    • @bykchoi
      @bykchoi  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I never went through bringing my canine down (basically because I’m too old/was too late). It’s typically done when you’re younger. I heard it’s painful but I’m sure it’s nothing too bad considering all your teeth would be hurting from braces

    • @helloimtegan
      @helloimtegan 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have two impacted canines. One erupted on its own behind my baby canine and the other just never came down. The one I had surgically exposed hasn’t caused me much pain at all. It’s been basically painless while it comes down. Next month I finally get a bracket on it rather than just my chain and I am so excited. Even if there’s pain it’s not permanent. It ends and it’s worth it.

      Tegan Sommerville I’m so glad I’m not the only one with impacted canines
      4 days ago I got my 2 too canines exposes and chained.
      Does it hurt a lot the first time you go back to the orthodontist to get the chain tightened?
