    London is my favourite city, alongside with Tokyo and Kyoto in Japan. I love the teas (like you do) and the lovely bookstores in this great city !

      Hi Vivian, if you like London you will also like Paris and Rome, have you been? Also, I went to Tokyo 東京 and Kyoto in May 2017 and have dreamt of going back ever since, similarly to how the charming k.choi talks of my home city in this video. And speaking of tea, the best tea I ever had was in Kyoto and, of course, it was green matcha :)

    Can't agree more! Especially with the christmas part, it was so nice to see the glam displays got put up so early, always make miserable nights less depressing! Miss London so much too :( also when I visited LA earlier this year I struggled so much with transport lol always had to Uber

      Lol yes a car is really necessary here! I don’t mind it at times because I get my personal space and it makes shopping much easier (don’t have to lug everything around). But I especially miss the double decker buses!

    Your other video (Why I Don't Miss London) was the first thing that came up when I Googled "Asian American women in London" (seeing as I am one myself). I was kinda bummed that it wasn't more positive and I'm glad to have come across this video (now if only this one could come up on Google instead!). I love the international-ness here too - you just have to be assertive about your identity is all. I find that some people here don't get it, but a lot of people back home don't either. I think since 2017 we've seen more Asian Americans in global media, which I think has made a huge difference. Anyway, NYC wasn't for me, and I love London, but I'm glad you've found a city to call home :)

      Hahah yeah, I tried to include a disclaimer in that video that I still love London!! It was just what I was feeling at the time. Glad you took the time to watch some more videos and glad it could resonate with you a little! :)

    I get you, it's a bit frustrating how some cities in the US are not designed for public transportation. When I first visited New Jersey I was like ??? how come you don't have buses running? lolAnyway I miss London too :c

    I really miss London too especially walking everywhere in London in the nice cool weather compared to Singapore. I was also living in central London near UCL and really miss the convenience, e.g. theatres, museums, shops, Chinatown, Soho, Covent Garden and the different markets.

    I can really relate! As an east asian myself (and from this perspective), I think London would be the greatest city in the world to me if it had the climate of SF and a demographic of NYC+London divided by 2 if it makes any sense, basically less rain, a lot more sun, and more east asians for me to relate to but at the same time keep the awesome mix of people. It's such a great city in all other aspects!

      No, its not. The metro population of London is 14,257,000 and LA is 13,131,431.. but if you include the inland empire (Greater LA) is 17,786,419 people.

    I got introduced to your channel when I was trying to plan my london trip with my sister in october and I was searching for youtube inspiration! Thank you for sharing your london experiences it helped me plan and I ended up doing a lot of things i saw on your vlogs! I miss the tea culture too! I live on the east coast in NY i tend to drink coffee where there is more of a coffee culture here, but in london there is just something about having tea where it is a part of the culture and many people take time for it. Drinking tea in NY is not the same lol. But I try to drink tea more often lately to remind me of my great london vacation or maybe just to pretend i'm still there! I also miss the charming british accents and the great indian food! Thanks again for your channel i've been inspired by it, and now i'm actually thinking about starting my own maybe about life in NYC. we'll see...

    A really good video. I haven't been to London but I have driven in many cities in the UK and I hate it, cities roads are always super complicated and easy to get lost, aswell as all the traffic. so stressful. Haha

    • @bykchoi
      @bykchoi  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hahah I would never want to drive in London!

    • @Alan_Mac
      @Alan_Mac 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes...it is another enjoyable vid. I learned to drive in London so have never been fazed by it. What London drivers hate most is dawdlers. So you can cut in happily or even do a U-turn on Piccadilly as long as you signal your intent and do it decisively.
      Not long after I passed my test I drove to Glasgow (my home city) and they have a different set of (casual) rules including needing space in front of their cars and being intolerant of those who barged in. So I find small cities trickier to drive in than large ones simply because it takes time to adapt one's driving style.
      NYC, though, has similar driving habits to London and I've always felt at home there. In LA they drive like grannies!

    • @bykchoi
      @bykchoi  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hahah I can totally see the similarities between London and NY driving! I definitely drive very cautiously 😅 which came in handy when I almost got t-boned at an intersection the other day by a pickup truck running a red light!

    • @Alan_Mac
      @Alan_Mac 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      ^^^ drives like a granny IMO ;)

    I'm from the UK, but I've only been there once, but I really like how diverse it is. Although I wouldn't want to move there, it's far too busy for me. I'm just curious how did someone who is only used to crossing roads at designated places adapt in London? Did you only cross at crossings, or did you cross where was convenient for you? Do you miss that being back in LA, or not because you didn't really do it? Also, did you feel safer crossing at crossings knowing that cars couldn't turn left on red (right in the USA)?

    • @bykchoi
      @bykchoi  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hahah I mostly crossed at crossings because I still wasn’t super confident I was looking the correct way before crossing! And the no-right-turns-on-red is only in some cities (like New York City); you can turn right on reds in LA, unless there is a specific sign that says you can’t!

    • @oursavior9883
      @oursavior9883 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      What I mean about the turning on red is, in LA, you can turn on red, but in the UK you can't, so did you feel safer knowing that when crossing a road in London, a car couldn't turn and hit you if you had missed it? I feel like that would be a concern for me. I'm just curious, because I didn't find out about jaywalking until recently, and I didn't find out about turning on red until recently so I find it quite interesting how cars have priority over pedestrians in the US (and some other countries actually)

    • @bykchoi
      @bykchoi  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ohh!! I didn’t even know cars couldn’t turn left on red in the UK 😂 but I think it helped to have those segmented crossings because I could just focus on one side at a time!

  • @jrc58526

    Very informative detail but London is in fact 1.21 times bigger than LA so even with a decent transport network that's why travelling across it takes so long

    This video isn’t true London is bigger in area size than all North American cities, sure la is spread out and is the biggest in area size than other Usa cities, but la is smaller in population than London, New York City gets that busy feel, because the city has twice as small area than London with identical population... Another incorrect thing, Londoners drink way more coffee than most Americans, which is why during the recession, Starbucks closed most of their US stores and opened more in London alone, u don’t see people ordering tea after tea in London, we drink our lattes/cappuccinos/mochas/espressos/Americanos/machiatos etc way more, so this tea with crumpets stereotype was way outdated by 1990s

      Do you typically eat traditional Korean meals at home, western or a blend? Have you done a vlog about it? Someone should make a TV series about cultural differences & experiences. It’s a fascinating subject (especially given globalisation and what I call the ‘cross-pollination’ of cultures these days) and there’s an endless amount of material out there.

    Did you make any British friends? As in, indigenous native British woman, moreover, a person of a higher caste in society or as they, say, posh. Speak more about the classism that exists in British society, did you get what's called the Seattle freeze to those who know what I'm talking about, akin their version of the London freeze. How many British men came up to you and stereotyped you for example.

    • @samirah278
