  • Without a doubt, the Leopard 2 is one of the most popular main battle tanks in the world. In Southeast Asia, it is being operated by Indonesia and Singapore, Leopard 2RI and Leopard 2SG respectively. They're basically an upgraded Leopard 2A4. The Leopard 2SG’s protection level and ability to function day and night gives Singapore’s ground forces a superb fire support vehicle in any conflict scenario where the full brunt of their mechanized fleet is required.

Singapore is a country that never ceases to amaze me. A territory smaller than that of Portugal and still they're armed to the teeth. Where do they keep all of their gear? Underground bunkers? Look at their Airforce, 40 F-15s and 60 F-16s. How do they do it? Meanwhile here in Brazil we're struggling to come up with the money to buy 36 more Gripens and we had to cut down by half our purchase of our new military cargo plane, the KC-390.

For most of Asia an advanced armored troop transport vehicle with a large millimeter, gyroscopically leveled auto loading canon should be more effective than a main battle tank. Also airial transported artillery should be more versatile than a MBT, especially in mountainous terrian like Indonesia.
