- 2023 was a disaster for the Chargers, but Jim Harbaugh was brought in to make them a serious team and if he can do it, there's a great chance he could win coach of the year. There is a decent the chance the Chargers double their win total in 2024 and how much you've improved is a big part of the award. Dan and David get into their Friday mailbag and discuss which side of the ball for LA has the lowest floor and the highest ceiling. It still feels like we haven't seen the ceiling of a Justin Herbert led offense, but has Greg Roman evolved since he last coordinated? They should get Willis Patrick to play nose tackle … he’s shorter and wider than anyone else .. and why can’t he switch to defense ? We must stop the run … we will be effective no matter what…. Just want the D to get better

Atheer, you forgot how bad Telasco was. He was about 70% of the reason why the Chargers were so inconsistent for over a decade. He never made any moves in the season, he didn’t make the big trades (only once with Mack), his drafting sucked after round 1, we didn’t have depth OR an identity. He never truly believed in running the ball or stopping the run. He was a disaster.

The coach can only work with what the GM gives him.
I think gm gets graded on actual talent of players not coaching elevating those players and obviously wins and who they hired as HC
So the same guys that said Justin Herbert was going to win MVP last year (apparently he was going to win 12+ games with Brandon Staley) is are not willing to say that this year despite the coaching upgrade? Interesting.

This team is relying on too many players coming off injuries and down years to be able to accurately predict what is going to happen.
Exactly this. Tons of potential for a boom or bust year but I think now that we actually have a great HC we can feel a little better about our chances to be a boom.
