I got into the blues in the mid 70s, and from there I never stopped listening....I think real blues needs that home grown grit of a live performance...not the overprocessed music of all genres today...Thank you for your lessons over the years.
It's not what it was at all. Same for punk, same for motown music. You get the occasional one or two but times have not moved on. These genres were defined by the period they are from. You cannot recreate a moment in time accurately and the genre know as blues is not just a tribute to that era. You get bands who do it in a unique and graceful way like The Kills but the Blues bands you hear now are just too produced and their members grew up in houses and apartments not plantations. Like punk, it was a moment in time not a genre of music as such. It was a movement not a style.

Yes, I totally agree, there are almost no accurate Howlin wolf lessons on TH-cam. I guess the sound is kind of hard to replicate, but I wish someone would do it. I have tried many times and I got close with a few songs. The same goes for Muddy Waters (except amazing Tom Feldmann lesson on Guitar Workshop but he focuses on an early Muddy Waters sound and not the sound of his full band during the biggest fame). The thing with Adrian is that he can hear so many details in songs that no other else on YT seems to be able to do. Even if I know a song before his lesson I am amazed at how many new tricks I always learn.
I agree with you Adrian. The Blues as a musical form was so organic and rooted in a culture of hardship and marginalization. Its hard for modern artists to connect to that raw feel and energy that came from that experience. I echo the desire for you to do a Lighting Hopkins lesson sometime.

I love that you have the lesson "chapterized" so we can zoom to a specific part! I wish YOU had done that tape where Hubert teaches his songs with Jimmy Vivino-You're WAY better of a teacher!

It's a personal taste thing... I can be amazed at somebody like Joe Bonomassa with his chops and skill set, yet really just not like it. For me, it's just too shreddy for blues. Now, when he is purposefully copping somebody's style (like Albert King or Clapton) hes much more listenable. It's always a happy day when Adrian blesses us with some Blues we can use!!! He's the man (no I'm not an attorney).

I think to make this song really work you need the 2nd guitar part playing the ascending bass riff underneath the descending sliding 6ths.
I do this by sliding an Ab up to an A (1st fret to 2nd fret) on the D,G B strings Followed by single string A string 4th fret , 5th fret, 6th 7th fret. Notes C#, D, D#, E And then moving that whole pattern up 5 frets for the IV chord.
Wonderful guitar work, as always, Adrian. I'm bettin' Hubert never got within arms reach of a nice LP like that one...he did well with what was at hand.
I'm with you I get tired of guys showing off their chops and missing the real feeling part. I love what Jimmy Page did with killing floor. I don't know what is about the way Page played back then but it really hits me.

If you want to get th sound you have to use a cheap Italian Bartolini or Echo with lots of plastic Pearl and push buttons. I saw Howlin Wolf and Hubert Sumlin and it was just the two them and that’s the guitar he played and he was amazing. Not an expensive LP. Love your vids though.
This guy can play anything; with finesse! Superb equipment on hand; Pauls, Teles, Strats, Fender, Vox, Marshall, the list goes on... Sure, he's weird (lol) but we love him (Biblical sense...) and his incredible range of quality music adventures. All in fun Pink (which one's Pink...)! Rock on! 🤘

The Small Speaker Overdrive from Great Eastern Effects, nice high end, not too harsh and breaks up just nicely - great for vintage blues kinda sounds. Inspired, bit like a decent quality boost really, with eq on an amp sky's the limit.
