- After reassembling my Yanmar 1GM Diesel engine, I run it through a longer test. Back at my Cape Dory 25D, I discover water rushing into the bilge, and finally complete the replacement hoses installation.
Thank you for documenting the restoration of your boat.
I'm happy to do so. Thanks for watching
There is a weep hole on the bottom of the water pump. Water was probably coming from that. You can get a rebuild kit to replace the seals. Then use the old pump as a spare. And don't you love boat yoga? You're doing great sir, always a pleasure watching your videos.
Thanks Rich! You're spot on. I haven't found a rebuild kit. The Yanmar parts breakdown doesn't seem to specify any internal parts. I'll research more.
Good to see you again Owen, the motor looks and sounds really good, Thanks
Thanks a lot, Ed!
I love the Yanmar content we're talking about maybe putting two 2ym15 sd in a 32ft Inland Seas Steel Clipper i would love to see a video on the fuel consumption rpm's and speed of the sailboat when your finished. And I think your really gonna like that 5hp mariner we have one and love it. We have videos up on our channel of the kids water-skiing with the 12ft rowboat & 5hp mariner.
I'll definitely consider determining the fuel consumption and will report back if I do. I've had very little opportunity so far to use the Mariner outboard, but looking forward to getting more time with it this year.
Hello thanks for the videos I have a yanmar ysm8 and I'm having issues with finding parts did you order offline or did you go through a dealer any info would greatly be appreciated
I ordered parts through a regional authorized Yammer repair shop. I don't know about the ysm8, but parts are readily available for my engine. The dealer was readily able to ship the parts I needed anywhere I needed them.
