- At long last I begin reconnecting the Yanmar 1GM Diesel engine back into my Cape Dory 25D sailboat. Additionally, I start the creation of Dorade vents and resurrect an old bilge pump to use as a back-up .
I really appreciate your project. And I am glad to you posting more again. I have been on board from the beginning and am looking forward to more, wherever it takes you! Fair winds and following seas!
Thanks a ton for sticking with me. I really appreciate it!
Have you considered the possibility of buying a trailer and renting a truck, or paying a driver, to bring the boat close to home? One of the aspects of your boat that I find appealing is the freedom from boat yards. I imagine being able to spend more time refitting with the boat nearby.
owen, you've overcome the big hurdels, all easy sailing from now on in. thx, always enjoyable and llok forward to many more.
Thanks for your comment!
You should've unbolted the coupling after you pulled it together, THEN checked alignment. I think your shaft just slipped aft, as yet, you haven't actually aligned everything so it will likely vibrate.
Yes looks like he just needs to bring the shaft in.
This is really good advice. Thanks for your input!
Hey Owen I enjoy watching your videos as I too am wanting a Cape Dory or an Alberg 30 for a restoration project. I have to ask what is the headroom in the cabin? I am 6’1” and don’t want to stoop down to walk around inside. I am in central Washington aways from sailable water. If you have a line on a project boat, I’d take a look. Do you currently still have the 3 boats?
I think parts of the interior of the CD25D might be very close to 6'1", but likely not quite and only a small part of the cabin provides that height.
I haven't been looking at other boats, but I'm sure there are plenty out there. Enjoy the search!
I only have the Cape Dory. I sold both the Alberg and Tanzer boats years ago.
