Interesting interpretation. A bit too slow and ponderous for my taste, but the slower pace makes it easier to appreciate every note so to speak. Which is frequently lost when virtuoso pianists rush through this complex composition. It's interesting how different it sounds at this tempo. I do prefer the first version, but I also know how difficult it is to master, not to mention how constrained one is by the size of ones own hands.
That's why Rachmaninoff wrote two versions of this Sonata: One for beginners (this one, the 2nd version) and one for shall we say intermediate pianists (the original 1st version). 😁

The sonata seems very easy. For beginners.
Stop lying! For me this sonata is one of the most difficult piano pieces ever written for the piano.
