how simple? I've gotten good results using a compressor with a heavily highpassed key input. I highpass the key around 10-12kHz, and then it compresses the entire vocal. Typically when someone makes an "S" sound, they're not making another sound simultaneously. It doesn't work perfectly for every vocalist, but I've gotten some great mileage out of this technique.
Have you experimented with the De-esser in you mix? If so, what has your experience been?
My voice is an ear killer at ate kay.
Question: how can I DeEss with a simple console that doesn’t have a DeEsser?
You can use your eq and look for the “ess” and reduce it
