"Might as well go all out right?" Zelos is actually making fun of Lloyd here because of his tendency to say "Lets go all out" during the start of battles
This fight was probably one of the best boss battles in the game. The atmosphere, the build-up, the execution, everything, it was just perfect. I'm used to fictional stories being sad, but Zelos' death really got to me.
As you know, the game lets you choose one of the characters as your bestest friend/most valuable comrade/love interest/whatever through various choices in some events. If you choose anyone EXCEPT Kratos, you fight some generic boss angel and its flunkies when Zelos betrays you. Leading to Zelos eventually coming back to your side. However, if you do choose Kratos, you fight Zelos instead and kill him. Leading to Kratos eventually joining your side after your fight with him.
What the.... I knew that it's possible that Zelos dies, but this scene... Lloyd isn't sad at all! XD After one minute, everything he can think about is Colette. His damn friend died before! XD ...wait. He didn't died. He still lives through the Cruxis cirstall... That means... ARGH, CONFUSED! XD
Okay ok He betrayed them then so the designs wouldn't kill them Then he had them kill him so he could later be revieced through the crux is crystal and thus free them from those traps I think...... Yeah
I like how you see the dying breathe of a teammate that you know almost from the begining of the game and then "damned idiot" and you never hear a single line about him in the entire rest of the game.
Sword Rain Omega, no doubt. Its the one that hits more :P (though I love how Brutal Lloyd does the tiger blade finish in Raining Tiger Blade). Also... Sword Rain Omega has my name, soooooo WIN!! XD
Damn great scene...It's probably the moment I love Zelos the most ( even if it's my favourite character already just after Kratos, but no one matches Kratos after all)...I remember, the first time I did that fight, I was under shock , I even hoped he would come back later...But he just died, as he lived : as an epicurian idiot..Still, we love you, Zelos!
thats because in the canon story (where he lives), he betray us so we he could save everyone from the traps of Yggdrasill (a very cliche part of the game lol), so you could say he won the trust of Lloyd really quick later on lol
yes, I can't believe I got so much XD Thats what I like about the GRADE System in Symphonia, it actually tells you how good (awesome in this case) or bad you did. In all this new tales games they give you so much GRADE that they blind you from the truth that you did horrible in the battle :/
I may be thinking too deep here but I imagine the reason Zelos doesn't have overlimit is because he knew he would lose and wants to die. So in this branch of the story, he "runs away"; While in the other branch, he learns that running away is not the solution thanks to Lloyd in Derris Kharlan.
@NinjaAssassin5891 You don't have to fight Zelos, it's what happens if you get the Kratos scene in Flanoir. Which is optional depending on what team members likes you the most. Kratos can be gotten if you reject the top 3 that like you the most. He will be the automatic scene if you do this. Hope that kind of helped.
yep, I can definitelly tell you haven't seen how Overlimit is in Symphonia. Overlimit in Symphonia is a black aura and that protects you against stagger, I staggered Zelos most of the fight so he wasn't in Overlimit.
Y'know something funny? I didn't cry when I watched this video...but I did when I fought him myself. It's different when you actually do it yourself, I guess. I love you forever, Zelos!
@bradhuygens Waaaay at the end. And a scene occurs and if you answer you trust him, he still fights you but comes back later. So either way, he betrays you. It just differs if he dies or not. If you trust him, you get him back. If you don't, you get Kratos. I believe the scence happens in Flanoir.
@mistermarple Yeah its a skill that lets you use two lvl 1 skills in a combo and it comes from the ex gems, if I'm not mistaken. I dont remember the name of the skill off the top of my head, but look it up. It's awesome to have on Lloyd
Raine&Genis: *stares* Zelos: uh...DAMN!!! *dies* Presea: He finely shut up. Lloyd:yeah... Sheena: it's about time!! Colette: at lest say RIP first. Regal: *WTF Face* ((I'm a fan of all of the main good-guys/girls so I have no hate))
Raine&Genis: Prism Stars Zelos: uhuhuhuiiiuhuhuhuhuuhiiiiuhuhiiiuhuuhuh Presea: doesn't he ever shut up?! Lloyd: doesn't seem like it. Sheena: SHUT UP AND DIE ALL READY! Colette: I pray that you die fast. Regal: *WTF Face* ((I'm a fan of both Zelos and Kratos so IDK if I'll fight him))
@Zettonic It depends on how well you did in battle. Sometimes in Destiny 2 I get more than 16+ Grade if I did well in boss fights, even though the limit was around 15.
what's funny is, in Abyss, there's a Replica that says the quote: "Ze...lo...s...di...ed..." I think...it's actually canon that Zelos dies...especially considering that ToS2 is considered (last i checked) by the creators to be more of a spin-off rather than a Sequel. Could be wrong though, but...dunno, maybe they're just fuckin with us.
Well no, the key is seeing all the special subquests with him, the ones where he trains Lloyd. There's4 of them, one you see all four he will show up in Flanoir, ussually after the top 3 relationships are turned away (unless you managed to sneak him into the top 3 relationships)..
he's using the spirit symbol which regenerates 5% TP every few seconds. the item has been around for awhile, combined with the Holy symbol it's a great tactic to survive anything. the item survived even in Tales of Xillia.
@Ninjaboi8175 you can decide wether you go to palmacosta first or destroy the humanranch in Luin first if you decide to destroy the Humanranch in Luin first Sheena joins the team earlier but it has no effect to the story
Kratos, Zelos, and Regal are epic. I got the Collette scene though at Flanoir. I didn't know if you got the Kratos scene that Zelos would die. Then again I just finished my first playthrough. xD I wish they had this kind of option near the end of Abyss with the final battle between Asch and Luke. That if Luke lost he would stay behind instead and you could play as Asch for the final battle or something. xD
You get Kratos regardless in the Gamecube version. As for everyone else, it is based on their affection for Lloyd. Many people get Colette and Genis because it's so easy to get them to like Lloyd, and Colette starts off with a very high affection for Lloyd already. I got Colette, Genis and Sheena (and Kratos) in my first playthrough.
I have to tell you, the first time i fought him and won, I didn't felt good..he was better in the group than returining kratos in there.! it was on my 2nd playthrough I fought him by the way.
Because Lloyd doesn't have Sword Rain Omega, the only swordman (to my knowledge) that has that attack is Chloe from Legendia. Maybe you are confusing it with Omega Tempest :P
This still makes me about cry...I am so effing glad that his death is non-canon. Zelos is my favorite character in this game, I'm cosplaying as him in a couple of weeks! ;D
It is the top 3 characters. There are many ways to increase affection, but I do it mostly through the skit activation circles on the map. Then activate only the ones you want high affection. On the PS2 version Kratos must be one of the top 3 or you will choose your third option by default.
Do you have to have a certain ability to string special moves? like demon fang > tiger blade > heavy tiger blade? Or can you just use them in a row wwithout a certain ability?
@BrincessKarin If you mean the important talk you do with him to re-recruit him at the end of the game, you cant miss it. You will need to get a doctor in Flanoir at one point in the game. Soon after you will be alone in a room and characters with the most affection will visit you. Say no to all of them 'til Kratos calls out to you and say yes to talk to him. Pretty much at the end of the game you'll get him. Love the guy but was so disappointed I killed Zelos for him get him for so little time.
aww =( Do you have the whole Scene? I have been trying to find it here but people just seem to record the battles and not the actual previous~after the battle scenes
@SKATERBOY96ify That was my thought, too. She was upset that he did that, and yeah he was a damned idiot. He had all that support, if he could only accept it. But I wonder if even that would not have been enough because of his desire to be finally free.
It's the top 3 characters. Denying all 3 will force you to go with the 4th (which will always be Kratos if he's not in the top 3). If he is in the top 3, he'll call you in respect to what place he's in. :)
Nice that you decided to kick HIS ass not Kratos :D One of my favorite vidoes of yours By the way is this American or EU version? Because this looks much faster than EU
@laureano1610 Kratos was holding back his full power in the first fight and in the second he only bought time for cruxis so that they could imprison Lloyd and his group
No, that happens to me, too. He won't heal guys if there are girls there. I hate Zelos. Mostly just because of the way he acts. But you can't do a majority of the sidequests without him.
Lol I always enjoy the fact that Genis and Raine always feel the need to get so close to the boss character...I've made peace with the fact that they are masochists~
Damn! On my first and only playthrough of this game I didn't fight Zelos nor did i have any idea you had an option to fight him or not. I'm so glad I didn't. I love Zelos and I'd be very pissed if I lost him. Nice fight though. And yes they made it SO obvious Zelos had something planned.
@amescher100 Really I thought they were good friends with a twisted relationship. They have many skits together and her last sentence to Zelos was imo like "you shouldn't have done that" and not like "good to see you're dead"
The first run I didn't know I could actually get Kratos again in the game, but then after I read about it I decided to just play the game so that I could get Kratos. Really, I despised Zelos for his stupidity and found Kratos to be a lot more interesting.
No. You have to choose at Flanoir. The Manga ends with both of them there, but in the game, if you choose Kratos at Flanoir, you'll kill Zelos, and you can't have more than eight people in your party at once, so even though you don't kill KRATOS if you don't choose him, it's impossible to have both after the time with the Mana Cannon. That's the only time. Kratos also replaces Sheena during that time.
No. Kratos is automatic. He'll be there even if he likes you least out of everyone. In that case, you'd obviously see him last. But if Kratos likes you more than the other seven, he may be the first one to speak to you. You can turn him down if he's one of the first three people. I believe I got him second or third before. I just didn't choose him. I likely chose Regal that time.
Lloyd is like "Oh well Zelos is dead time to move on!"
"Might as well go all out right?"
Zelos is actually making fun of Lloyd here because of his tendency to say "Lets go all out" during the start of battles
you don't go to him, you have to reject everyone that wants to talk to you until you hear Kratos' voice.
I still play this game. It never gets old.Played this game since 2004(English version). And now, bout to play chronicles version.
This fight was probably one of the best boss battles in the game. The atmosphere, the build-up, the execution, everything, it was just perfect. I'm used to fictional stories being sad, but Zelos' death really got to me.
@Zettonic
It's 30.00 on Mania normally, but it goes up to 60.00 if you get the 2x Grade option in the Grade shop.
God I miss this game. Think I'm gonna play it again.

@ErnestBowl If you're familiar with Eternia, it's called Double Spiral Attack. It's basically another Light Spear in midair.
yes, I can't believe I got so much XD
Thats what I like about the GRADE System in Symphonia, it actually tells you how good (awesome in this case) or bad you did. In all this new tales games they give you so much GRADE that they blind you from the truth that you did horrible in the battle :/

@Sonicnathan1 You sir gain the award for biggest understatement of the century.
Your question may have already been answered, but i wondered the same thing too. The song is called On the hill this night.
You..are...amazing! Your battle tactics as well as all those combos you strung together. I'm in awe of how great you are. I'm very jealous.
"Damn! A 150 hit combo? Freaking Lucky Unison..." That's how I interpret his final "Damn!"
@NinjaAssassin5891 You don't have to fight Zelos, it's what happens if you get the Kratos scene in Flanoir. Which is optional depending on what team members likes you the most. I believe the scence happens in Flanoir.
The way Zelos dances during battle makes me love him.
@mistermarple Yeah its a skill that lets you use two lvl 1 skills in a combo and it comes from the ex gems, if I'm not mistaken. I dont remember the name of the skill off the top of my head, but look it up. It's awesome to have on Lloyd
Raine&Genis: *stares*
Zelos: uh...DAMN!!! *dies*
Presea: He finely shut up.
Lloyd:yeah...
Sheena: it's about time!!

Regal: *WTF Face*
((I'm a fan of all of the main good-guys/girls so I have no hate))
Raine&Genis: Prism Stars
Zelos: uhuhuhuiiiuhuhuhuhuuhiiiiuhuhiiiuhuuhuh
Presea: doesn't he ever shut up?!
Lloyd: doesn't seem like it.
Sheena: SHUT UP AND DIE ALL READY!
Colette: I pray that you die fast.
Regal: *WTF Face*
((I'm a fan of both Zelos and Kratos so IDK if I'll fight him))
I was kinda expecting Sheena to say:
"Um, when the (censor) did he get angel wings!?"
@Zettonic It depends on how well you did in battle. Sometimes in Destiny 2 I get more than 16+ Grade if I did well in boss fights, even though the limit was around 15.

The that's played after his defeat is On the hill this night.
For those of you who don't know. xD
I never noticed this before, but they got over Zelos' death pretty dang fast.
For some reason the pose Zelos takes @ 00:58 makes me laugh. Then I remember what's happening and feel bad.
Well no, the key is seeing all the special subquests with him, the ones where he trains Lloyd. There's4 of them, one you see all four he will show up in Flanoir, ussually after the top 3 relationships are turned away (unless you managed to sneak him into the top 3 relationships)..
I remember I fought him on accident cause I thought you HAD to talk to Kratos in Flanoir, was a freaking explosive plot twist...to me at least
Man I bow to you for your excellent gaming abilities : 3
he's using the spirit symbol which regenerates 5% TP every few seconds. the item has been around for awhile, combined with the Holy symbol it's a great tactic to survive anything. the item survived even in Tales of Xillia.

I had no idea this battle even existed in the game. MUST......PLAY......MORE
LOL
I love it when genis says the vow and lloyd says i hate that.
both are the same thing (literally, the animation is the same) but Lloyd does Raining Tiger Blade more brutal, which feels better :P
Kratos, Zelos, and Regal are epic. I got the Collette scene though at Flanoir. I didn't know if you got the Kratos scene that Zelos would die. Then again I just finished my first playthrough. xD

Because Lloyd doesn't have Sword Rain Omega, the only swordman (to my knowledge) that has that attack is Chloe from Legendia.
Maybe you are confusing it with Omega Tempest :P
this is an alternant story line for the games because Zelos is alive in the second game
This still makes me about cry...I am so effing glad that his death is non-canon. Zelos is my favorite character in this game, I'm cosplaying as him in a couple of weeks! ;D
@ErnestBowl Zelos's T type move, instead of his S type Light Spear Cannon.
One of my favorite games ever, has a great story and its very very developed sonce the storyline as well as the complete battle system... Love it
It is the top 3 characters. There are many ways to increase affection, but I do it mostly through the skit activation circles on the map. Then activate only the ones you want high affection. On the PS2 version Kratos must be one of the top 3 or you will choose your third option by default.
Thanks for posting!
I love Zelos too much to ever kill him, but I still wanted to actually see what happens...XD;
damn, you fight good
but one question:
demon fang and than tiger blade? two lv 1 attacks?
Sheesh. Sheena's the epitome of good nature.
*Zelos dies*
Sheena: Damned idiot...
1:56 - Come get some Ground Dasher!
Who else thinks that the way Zelos falls right after the battle is just soooo funny?
@YUlYoshioka: Zelos died. Welp nothing to see here lets go on.
I only got the Collette scene in Flanoir. -___-
I love how the voice actors sound like they are actual people who are going to fight, while the characters are still so little lol
use sword rain : alpha 200 times. Then use the two techs right after each other. By using sword rain alpha 200x, you get rid of the final upper slash.
The music in this fight is my favorite in THE FRANCHISE.
I didn't even know you could fight Zelos. On all my playthroughs of the game i kept him.
aww =( Do you have the whole Scene? I have been trying to find it here but people just seem to record the battles and not the actual previous~after the battle scenes
@PistonVI its the voice actor that played robin in teen titans
@AresSnipes He wants to be relieved from his duty as the chosen of Tethe'alla (if i spelt that right). Yeah he's still good hearted in the end.
It has something to do with the conversation choices back in Flanoir, when Lloyd is on the balcony
As i am reading these comments, I hear Zelos' cries of pain aka "ai!"; good job!
Zelos the whole battle:
"UH UH UH IY IY UH UH IY IY UH UH UH UH UH IY"
@SKATERBOY96ify That was my thought, too. She was upset that he did that, and yeah he was a damned idiot. He had all that support, if he could only accept it. But I wonder if even that would not have been enough because of his desire to be finally free.
Wish this would affect how Dawn of the New World turns out.
No joke, I literally almost cried when I did the story this way.
Holy fuck, two unisons IN A ROW?!
It's the top 3 characters. Denying all 3 will force you to go with the 4th (which will always be Kratos if he's not in the top 3). If he is in the top 3, he'll call you in respect to what place he's in. :)
He only got to attack roughly 6 times that whole fought... that was brutal.
@DeQuonte5410 this part of the story is optional....
Hmm I've always wondered. Omega, what's better, Sword Rain: Omega or Raining Tiger Blade?
I love how ray usually only hits people once
not normally. The only time it happens is when you're infiltrating the iselia ranch and Kratos joins you.
Hahaha, when I saw the grade going up at" the end of the battle I said "holy shit" right before the watermark popped up.
Nice that you decided to kick HIS ass not Kratos :D
One of my favorite vidoes of yours
By the way is this American or EU version? Because this looks much faster than EU
@laureano1610 Kratos was holding back his full power in the first fight and in the second he only bought time for cruxis so that they could imprison Lloyd and his group
No, that happens to me, too. He won't heal guys if there are girls there. I hate Zelos.

Lol I always enjoy the fact that Genis and Raine always feel the need to get so close to the boss character...I've made peace with the fact that they are masochists~
@supersayiangoku4 Well yeah, I meant to say voice actor, but thanks.
@amescher100
Really I thought they were good friends with a twisted relationship. They have many skits together and her last sentence to Zelos was imo like "you shouldn't have done that" and not like "good to see you're dead"
How do you link Sword Rain Alpha to things? Also, how did you do that thing with Sword Rain Alpha > Raining Tiger Blade?
The first run I didn't know I could actually get Kratos again in the game, but then after I read about it I decided to just play the game so that I could get Kratos. Really, I despised Zelos for his stupidity and found Kratos to be a lot more interesting.
they are that fast.
PAL users got screwed big time with the speed in Symphonia. I have seen PAL vids and it looks soooo slow in comparison lol
Which ex skills do you have to have to get repeating unison attacks?
If you never want to kill Zelos, make sure Lloyd's most valued person is never Kratos.
DUDE. UR GOOOOOOOOOOOOOD AT THIS GAME!!!!!
Don't forget Regal.
Ready for this? JUDGMENT!
Zelos: Damn nurses...
