Coin Shortage - Coin Roll Hunting Nickels (both Customer wrapped and bank wrapped rolls) from Several Banks... I decided to jump in the car and head to several banks trying to get as many rolls of nickels as I could to do a 2 box Nickel hunt. I was able to get 100 rolls - 50 customer wrapped rolls and 50 bank wrapped rolls. We actually were able to score quite a few silver nickels in these 2 boxes so that made me happy! We'll be hunting these boxes of nickels for Silver Nickels, Buffalo Nickels, Proof coins, Old Jefferson Nickels (namely semi-key and key date nickels), Liberty V Nickels and 2009's for their low mintage. Let's keep our fingers crossed and our eyes open for some goodies! Keep hunting and good luck! They're still out there for us to find! I have to tell you rob, I have searched 2 boxes and have found nothing. But 2 minutes after you found your buffalo/Indian head, I found one in my box! So exciting! My first real find!
When I was getting rolls I was telling my tellers to give me all customer rolls they had. I figure with people out of work that they would be rolling up change to deposit. Great video. Thx Rob
I buy penny boxes all the time. Plus nickel and quarter. Just waiting for the bank to start giving them out again. I have a friend at a car wash that has been supplying me with coins. But he is now running low.
"Great video Rob! " I love videos like these, especially about nickels. Gives me motivation to arrange me change.. And I get a better idea of what to keep. Thanks Rob!
Fun nickle hunt Rob! Can't get mad at a buffalo and two war nickles! Even the grocery stores here in SoCal are not giving any change back when you make a purchase. Whatever change you have coming, they put it on a gift card.
I've gotten a few of my buffaloes from customer wrapped rolls. I don't know how they miss that either, crazy! But I am happy to find them and give them a home. :)
I'd recommend you ask your local shops if they need some extra coin, especially quarters. With the shortage, my store is limited in their orders and we have offered to provide a coin counting service in lieu of CoinStar a few times to shore up our reserve. Offering without assuming a positive answer can't hurt :)
I really enjoyed seeing the difference between machine fresh coins and Customer wrapped. I have always turned down customer wrapped coins. Maybe I shouldn't.
FIRST--- good job getting 2 boxes of Nickels. Every bank I deal with has shut me down for coins. Good job finding a silver out of each box, and a Buffalo is always a great find. Keep em coming. Rob 2 / Flthunder
I am a general mgr for a fast food restaurant and we can only get about 2 rolls each type of coins. It's tough to get change, especially in a small town that I live in.
“Drastic measures call for drastic times...” 🤔 I think this coin shortage has you a bit dyslexic, Rob! 😋. All kidding aside, have you ever hunted any older bank boxes from eBay? Perhaps a nickel hunt for older full steps nickels for grading? Of course, nothing beats a penny hunt!
You should try looking for the infamous Henning nickels. Dates 1939, 1944, 1946, 1947 and 1953. The 1944 is the giveaway it's without the large mint mark on the reverse. The R for pluribus on many nickels has a low spot and the weight is higher than 5.0 grams.
Just got a box of pennies and they were all new 2020-D .what should I do with it? Should I trade it back for circulation rolls to hunt or is there a hunt for anything new from the Denver's mint? 2020-D
I recently hunted a 30+ y/o nickel roll, the reason why it’s over 30+ years old is because the youngest dated coin is 1978. The oldest is a 1958-D, I did find a 1960 low mint age nickel from Philly (55 million minted.)
Customer rolled is always interesting. I prefer Loose Change Myself but I think the 1963 is mercury cleaned. You can use thermometer liquid to clean nickels, although it is highly toxic and very dangerous it's the old way of cleaning nickels.
I get a lot of earlier 60s like your 63p and I’m not sure. Sometimes I get the ones that are proofs 100%, and they look a little different with the steps and pillars, but it’s also way different from normal circulation strikes. I have no idea what they are but I average about 1 per 1-2 boxes now, but I keep them just in case
There is a trick for skimming quarters from change machines. Change machines always give back change in quarters so if you fill it up with dimes and nickels you'll get quarters back if you put paper money in it and hit the return you'll get quarters back I don't know how many of cleaned out that way.
Hi Rob. I am new to the channel, I was recently coin roll hunting nickels and found 7 40s nickels in one roll incuding one 35% silver nickel. Is that common?
Ahhhh, some coin roll hunting. Lobbies will be opened in my area starting on Monday. I bet I don't get too many scores for boxes. I'll take what I can get. Year 2009....H1N1 (Swine Flu) Low mintage of coins produce. Year 2020....Covid 19-- Hang on to those 2020 coins while they're still in good shape? Would that be good advise, Rob?
Getting nickels from the mid 60's with steps is difficult. I bought rolls of uncirculated 60's nickels and got a 1965 with three steps and was pretty satisfied. Once when going through a box I saved out all of the 1964's and returned a roll with just '64's to the bank. I wonder if the person who eventually got the coins noticed.
Hi, Rob. I was recently Coin Roll Hunting and I found a roll with 7 40s nickels, including 1 35% silver nickel. Can you tell me if that is rare. It was the first time I was coin roll hunting. The roll was customer wrapped, so it might have been a collection dump.
Whenever I buy coins I strongly prefer customer rolls. The probability of human error in their coins is much higher in chances of getting older coins than in machine wrapped coins. Likely because whoever owns the machine buys the older coins to sell them in the mint itself
Hey Rob. I’ve been CRH since before it was cool. Just wanted to know if you have always been a coin junkie; like myself? I’m rather new to the internet as well as your channel. However I dig your content. Keep up the amazing work my friend.
I went 4/4 getting $100 in nickels from four random banks last week. But at the last stop, the bank manager came over to personally tell me that I could not have all the half dollars due to the "coin shortage" (he didn't object to the nickels though). He ends up giving me $150 in customer wrapped halves, sorted by date 1971-1974. I'll never know what was in the rest of the rolls (but I'm sure the manager will). Ended up getting 2 Buffalo's and a war nickel out of one of the nickel boxes. The next box was 100% customer wrapped, 48 skunk rolls and 2 that had solid 60s-70s-80s BU nickels that had been clearly popped from an album. They went straight into mine.

Nice video! #Nickels
Lov u man
I have to tell you rob, I have searched 2 boxes and have found nothing. But 2 minutes after you found your buffalo/Indian head, I found one in my box! So exciting! My first real find!
Hay rob! I also hunted 2 boxes of nickels earlier today and I found a uncirculated 1939 s Kay date nickel! So happy!
Can't wait to recieve my mat for nickel hunts!
They are pretty cool, high quality too!
I wish you did more like this. Its alot easier for people to get customer rolls. And it shows the realities.
Great hunt! Of course every hunt is great during a coin shortage.
Tough times brother, but at least you were able to get two full boxes and some good finds!
When I was getting rolls I was telling my tellers to give me all customer rolls they had. I figure with people out of work that they would be rolling up change to deposit. Great video. Thx Rob
I'm with you I am Loose Change collector. 66 Indian heads in 3 years tells the tale.
I can’t get coin rolls yet :c my parents won’t let me but I still go to my towns coin store by a bank
Pennies are only $25 a box, and you end up returning almost all of them.
I buy penny boxes all the time. Plus nickel and quarter. Just waiting for the bank to start giving them out again. I have a friend at a car wash that has been supplying me with coins. But he is now running low.
Good idea.
The 42s is the only war nickel i need to find for my book, congrats
No matter how good grt8 or bad the hunt is.... I always enjoy
Glad you had some good finds, great creativity to find some rolls, good job
Great banks raid of rolls 👌
"Great video Rob! " I love videos like these, especially about nickels. Gives me motivation to arrange me change.. And I get a better idea of what to keep. Thanks Rob!
Great hunt brother! The goodies are out there, just gotta keep looking!
Love hunting nickel boxes.
You are very smart I would never thought of that very good idea
In my hometown in Canada, customer wrapped rolls were the best. Found a lot of what appeared to be dumped collections or piggy bank contents.
Great video Rob, love the nickel hunts & can't complain about them war nickels
How was that one not a proof! That luster was amazing!
It's was chemically cleaned. You can clean nickels without rubbing them by using old thermometer Mercury.
Calling it now. Customer wrapped will be better
Yeah people don’t know what they have
I love watching your videos and I hope you have a great day
Can't wait to see that jar filled with 35% silver! Great hunt and amazing patience getting the rolls!
I just sold over 4000 silver war Nickels!
@@mentalmetalist 4000! What did that get you, if you don't mind me asking. That's an incredible amount!
A buck each. I made 30% profit on the worst silver ever. The guy who got them is now selling them at 10% over spot. Good luck
I just bought $1000 worth of loose change. I pay for it by the pound I get more than face value.
When rob puts an ad right before opening a roll you know it’s gonna be good
Nice find on that buffalo nickle.
Great video Rob!
Fun nickle hunt Rob! Can't get mad at a buffalo and two war nickles! Even the grocery stores here in SoCal are not giving any change back when you make a purchase. Whatever change you have coming, they put it on a gift card.
I was also the one in Friday's stream that asked when the next hunt was. Wasn't expecting one for a little while
Thanks for sharing! Enjoyed it.
Cool video. Thanks for sharing your nickel hunt.
I've gotten a few of my buffaloes from customer wrapped rolls. I don't know how they miss that either, crazy! But I am happy to find them and give them a home. :)
They probably just don’t care. I mean why would you want a coin worth only a dollar if you don’t even collect coins
"drastic measures call for drastic times"
😀😀😀

Hey Rob, love the videos keep up the great work 👍🏻👍🏻 ❤️
That 63 looks like a Black Beauty variety.
I really enjoyed seeing the difference between machine fresh coins and Customer wrapped. I have always turned down customer wrapped coins. Maybe I shouldn't.

The silver war nickel saved the day on the banks wrapped rolls!
Have a GREAT Day!!!
Crazy customer wrapped
Not bad for bank hoping.
I got a 2020 W Weir Farm (V75) CRH
They are getting tough to get right now I got a 2020 Weir farms west point yesterday
Yay nickels!
Yay
I do enjoy the nickels.
Fun Hunt. I say the Buffalo is a 1924.
I am a general mgr for a fast food restaurant and we can only get about 2 rolls each type of coins. It's tough to get change, especially in a small town that I live in.
Thanks for doing this for us Rob! I know it was a hassle
Ouiiiiii box of nickel
You'll get a better find result next time. Keep at it, brother! 👍
Going to have to watch this later
Yup, I did a lot of bank hoping today too
“Drastic measures call for drastic times...” 🤔 I think this coin shortage has you a bit dyslexic, Rob! 😋. All kidding aside, have you ever hunted any older bank boxes from eBay? Perhaps a nickel hunt for older full steps nickels for grading? Of course, nothing beats a penny hunt!
Amen on pennies
I turned in two water jugs full of change today to help out the shortages. Yes i cherry picked the hell out of them.
You should try looking for the infamous Henning nickels. Dates 1939, 1944, 1946, 1947 and 1953. The 1944 is the giveaway it's without the large mint mark on the reverse. The R for pluribus on many nickels has a low spot and the weight is higher than 5.0 grams.
soon the hunt will just be to find coins...better start holding on to them!
Just got a box of pennies and they were all new 2020-D .what should I do with it? Should I trade it back for circulation rolls to hunt or is there a hunt for anything new from the Denver's mint? 2020-D
Oh yeah this day just got better
I love customer wrapped rolls I found a 37 D nickel 😍
Silver! Woot woot
I recently hunted a 30+ y/o nickel roll, the reason why it’s over 30+ years old is because the youngest dated coin is 1978. The oldest is a 1958-D, I did find a 1960 low mint age nickel from Philly (55 million minted.)
bummer its becoming harder to find coins to hunt!
I spent 10 dollars on bank wrapped Penny's and got 13 wheat Penny's is that decent?
Hi Rob! I recently found a 1931 s buffalo nickel, is that considered a key date?
Yes that is key date. G-4 $7, it all depends on the condition. There is no such thing as proof 1931s. MS-63 at best $45
William findspennies Thank you for the info!
😂😂😂😂🥇🥇🥇The Trick, Just 1 Character
YES! BOOM! 💥
Hi Rob
Dude that’s a d over s I seen the shape on the bottom left 4:56
I like how you put shortage in the thingy
Moral of the story: don't sleep on customer-wrapped rolls!
Customer rolled is always interesting. I prefer Loose Change Myself but I think the 1963 is mercury cleaned. You can use thermometer liquid to clean nickels, although it is highly toxic and very dangerous it's the old way of cleaning nickels.
Do you like run the junk coins through a coin star or something?
Nickels let's go
sweet coinmas
Yeah nickels!
I get a lot of earlier 60s like your 63p and I’m not sure. Sometimes I get the ones that are proofs 100%, and they look a little different with the steps and pillars, but it’s also way different from normal circulation strikes. I have no idea what they are but I average about 1 per 1-2 boxes now, but I keep them just in case
thumbs up
My sister threw a mercury dime at me claiming it was "useless Canadian money."
For the past 2 weeks banks have refused to let me buy boxes. Its put my quarter and nickel hunt on hold. It's a real bummer
There is a trick for skimming quarters from change machines. Change machines always give back change in quarters so if you fill it up with dimes and nickels you'll get quarters back if you put paper money in it and hit the return you'll get quarters back I don't know how many of cleaned out that way.
i hunted 10 boxes last week and we only found a few finds.... this coin "shortage" has changed the make up of our boxes.
Hi Rob. I am new to the channel, I was recently coin roll hunting nickels and found 7 40s nickels in one roll incuding one 35% silver nickel. Is that common?
All the rolls I got were customer wrapped
I found a 1943 P War Nickel at work today.
Go get Nickels from donation groups! We got 4attached to their come on and donate! Here’s a couple!
Rob, how the heck are we running out of coins? Is everyone keeping them? I was doing pretty good now the banks in my town will not give up any
I've got plenty of mats just no coinage. 👀
Getting nickels from the mid 60's with steps is difficult. I bought rolls of uncirculated 60's nickels and got a 1965 with three steps and was pretty satisfied.
Once when going through a box I saved out all of the 1964's and returned a roll with just '64's to the bank. I wonder if the person who eventually got the coins noticed.
rob, is it bad that I copied your nickel mat onto paper using a pencil so that I can use it while hunting?
So are all nickels that are pre 1965 silver
Only ones dated 1942-1945 but the 1942’s must have the mint mark above the building on the back to be silver (usually).
RobFindsTreasure thanks for the info! I had a 1962 and now I know it’s not silver
What do I do with my silver nickels that I got
Hey rob, would you still like those rolls of Canadians I have? It’s only 4 dollars worth but if you want em you can have em
He has a P.O. Box in the description of his video
Hi, Rob. I was recently Coin Roll Hunting and I found a roll with 7 40s nickels, including 1 35% silver nickel. Can you tell me if that is rare. It was the first time I was coin roll hunting. The roll was customer wrapped, so it might have been a collection dump.

I got a 2016 s quarter in my change the other day
I went 4/4 getting $100 in nickels from four random banks last week. I'm ready to bank hop for just a few rolls
Yeah I hear ya about the coin shortage!... Speaking of nickels; check your po box! 👍
I think they are proofs the 70 and the 63 TBH.
Just asking, why is the video picture so bad? Old video?
What do you do with the coins you don’t want???🤔
