Teenage social outcast Peter (Andrew Garfield) spends his days trying to unravel the mystery of his own past and win the heart of his high school crush, Gwen Stacy (Emma Stone). So let me get this right. Peter humiliated Flash and got busted for it, but just the day before Flash humiliated three students and beat up Peter and gets nothing? Yeah… it’s definitely high school.
Yeah. Some kid stabbed someone with a pencil and also tried lighting some other kids shirt on fire (to be fair, kid in question was being bullied every day) but still, that's messed up. He got suspended each time. I didn't get suspended for punching my 8th grade bully out though, or dodgeball to the face another bully. Had this man on the floor crying lol

I always saw Uncle Ben as a pacifist. He struck me as the kind of guy who would let someone spit on him and then justify his "response" as tolerance.
This whole confrontation from Uncle Ben about vengeance having consequences is just great foreshadowing for later parts of the movie.

Agreed. If you don't stand up to fight the tyrant, they'll just keep being a tyrant. You never appease the oppressor, because you'll only be oppressed more. Now it's not even an issue of being weak and letting yourself get walked all over, it's an issue of other people suffering due to your own negligence (assuming you have the power to deal with said tyrant).

Absolutely, and unfortunately it's a very realistic interpretation of western high schools. Bullies make other kids' lives a misery every single day and the teachers turn a blind eye and shrug their shoulders because it's too much effort to try and control it. But the second one of the bullied kids stands up for themselves because they have learned no-one else will, suddenly they're harshly punished as "retaliation is never acceptable".
Teachers too often take the path of least resistance - it's so much easier to punish a meek child who got pushed too far out of desperation than it is the violent kid who is abusing them daily.
This gives me solid ultimate spider man vibes and this is how teenagers talk..

This scene has some serious problems. It would make sense for Peter to get in trouble for smashing that backboard which was an accident, but the writers for some reason made him get in trouble for humiliating Flash, despite the fact they never got into a physical fight. What kind of writing is this? Who thought that would make sense? Then we have Uncle Ben thinking something is wrong with Peter even though he never punched Flash. This is Hollywood making the most laziest attempt at drama and it pisses me off.
Peter is one of the smartest students in the school so they’re definitely gonna cut some slack especially since it was an accident. At most he’d be suspended but he probably just got restricted from some activities. Also he didn’t need to punch flash to be taught a lesson by Ben. He was still bullying him by not letting them finish their game and making flash look like a fool. Revenge is the exact lesson uncle Ben would teach to Peter; not to pursue it

So what's wrong with using your powers to dominate and humiliate a bully who picks on weaker students nonstop and thereby end his reign of terror? Regardless of the motivation, I'd say that's a wise use for the greater good right!

Peter Parker is a unathletic, bookworm who only ever truly finds his confidence when he's Spidey. Tobey's Peter captured that to a T.
