I just discovered these tutorials and I'm addicted! Absolutely wonderful stuff. I wish I was able to ask your help in person, but alas, I'm on the other side of the planet!
Tricia, of all the vocal teachers and coaches I have watched online, I honestly think you're the best. I appreciate the thoughtfulness and totality of your approach, treating singing more as a way of life than as just a series of mechanical fixes. I also think you do a very good job of explaining the WHY behind the WHAT and HOW, and I trust what you're saying because your competence is very obvious. I'm still pretty new at this, but you've already cured me of one major ill; my voice teacher was trying to get me to bring my sound forward, but I wasn't grasping what she was saying. After I watched your "NG" video, though, and worked on that pretty hard for a couple weeks, she literally called me a "different person". So now I'm doing bird calls while I drive to work even though people probably think I'm nuts. Thank you, and please keep it up!
I have listened to many of your videos. Of course, they are all excellent. Singing is a mixture of abstract and concrete things. Your videos to me are more abstract than some. That is good, not bad! I have to listen carefully, think a little more, practice with you. I always hated waterfalls, but I'm revisiting them again to gain all I can from them. Thanks so much.
wow, since I eared your speech about de larynx (feeling it open, with resonators opened) I feel so much confident and sound it's really more free... thank you so much
Hi Tricia, I just want to say that our last names sound exactly the same (Lyness, Leines - both pronounced Lioness!!!) And I am also a blonde haired blue eyed singer with a fringe. Doesn't mean anything lol, but I just loved seeing that because I find you so inspiring! Can I ask you, do you enjoy being a vocal coach??? I would love to work as a voice coach because I am just totally addicted to singing, but I guess I don't really know exactly where to start. Thanks for making the videos btw, love them!!!!!
Hi Trisha, you have given me some great advice cause I’m an classical opera/crossover singer and I’ve always had problems with my resonance so I’m gonna try these warmup exercises and see if they work thanks from Lewis (baritone)
Thank you for your videos, they are extremely helpful! You are explaining everything very clearly and charmingly! Is there a specific video in your list that helps with breathiness? I have been singing and taking lessons for years but I can not get rid of extra breath, it feels like my vocal chords are not closing properly. My otorhinolaryngologist has checked it, I'm healthy so I seem to do something wrong. Thank you again for your excellent singing lessons. Regards from Germany :) Katja
Breathiness can be a few things... If it were me, I would look at creating a balanced onset of sound. This will help in making sure the vocal folds are coming together evenly. You also could be holding your breath... or n the flip side there could be too much breath being used. Start with the onset... @rejoiceinyourvoice.com/voice-lessons-create-a-great-beginning-discover-your-balanced-vocal-onset/
+VIDEOHEREBOB Thanks, Bob - I would play with both - making the transition as smoothly as possible... using chromatic tones to slide you way in to chest or to stay in head voice :)
I was hoping you were going to say up and back! thats what my coach told me too! we hum a lot and as I go up in pitch he says up and back! makes the difference! lots of ng's slides!
You are so welcome! I loved my time at MSM. When did you graduate? I am in Colorado now and am teaching online. Hope you are well and safe and stilling singing even during the challenging time. Take care of you!

She reminds me of Elīna Garanča
Holy Moly, 4:49
4:22 - 4:29 anyone else notice the mic static ducked out when she did those head voice notes, then ducked back? Or is it only heard with headphones?
I don't feel anything up in the head, sometimes little vibrations if I put my hand on my jaw.
I am deaf in my right ear.
