To be frank re: the guaranteed rental: you showed up 4 hours early. Had you shown up at the original reservation time the car would have been ready. So I can't really blame Hertz too much on that
Re: no app access, did someone tell you that? I just came back from renting at Tesla, at Hertz, and after stepping in the car one of the first things the car did was give me a QR code to add the car to my app. I never used the physical key after that
I rented a 2022 model 3 from hertz in Birmingham, AL. It wasn't planned, but they were running low on ICE sedans and gave me a discount. My first experience driving a Tesla, and I liked it so much, I bought a Model Y last month! The only thing I found challenging was making sure I had enough time at the supercharger in the city to charge the car before dropping it off again before my flight.
I have rented Tesla many times from Hertz as a Gold member. You only need to see a rental agent at the first time to match your driver license and credit card in person. Afterwards, as long as you don’t change your credit card, you don’t need to see anyone. Your name and Tesla will be on the board and you will be out the door with no time😊
Update! As of September 2023, Tesla's digital key is available for Hertz rentals. I can't help but think your video (which is by the way the highest quality that I've found when it comes to Tesla rental reviews) made a difference for my upcoming reservation. Thanks
I rented a Tesla model 3 from Hertz Jacksonville. No instructions from Hertz. No one knew anything. I had a friend who helped me get started thankfully.
The fact that you had a reservation yet they still didn't have your car is becoming the norm in the last 6 months at all rental car agencies. Happened to me multiple times in two months at Avis, Budget, and Thrifty. I really don't know wth is going on?? I'm not happy to see Hertz doing it too, that's why I signed up for their Gold service like you did.
I agree it has been the norm our last two vacations post covid.. each time we had to visit the counter although we are fast break members with Budget & gold member with Hertz
Did you return the car in another location, different from where you picked up? I was willing to rent from Los Angeles and drive to Las Vegas and then come back from travel by there but I cant do it with the Tesla apparently
I had no issues renting from Hertz. Rented Model 3 and Y. Rims were all scratched up.. they need better detailing too so cars can last and look good when rented. But I know they throw it though little 2 mins quick wash and off you go. But I’d definitely rent from them again.
Thanks for the tips! Did the Model Y you rented have the 3rd row seats? I"m thinking of renting one next month but everything on the website says 5 passengers
The first problem, MAJOR PROBLEM. You rented from Hertz. NEVER EVER rent from Hertz. Is VERY BAD for customers. They are a disaster and you can land in jail for literally paying them money, like many others that hertz falsely called the cops on them. Many had their car repoed mid rental period. And you might think there is something there, right?! NO. Innocent people, that paid the rental, no issues anywhere, and during rental or afterwards, sh|t hit the fan in their normal life without doing anything wrong. Hertz is a dangerous company, don't involve with them.

This video was made before that was put in place. Thanks for watching.

Thanks for sharing your story and watching! Cool way to end up in a Tesla!

They never asked me for my drivers license, already in the system, they just didn't have any cars to give me.

Thanks for the info! I appreciate your kind words.

Good to hear, hope it went well.
I've never been in a Tesla. I will need to go to a ev used car dealer and pretend to be a buyer gathering info so I could successfully rent one

Yeah. Weird since it said ‘Guaranteed Model’ when I rented it. Gold did me no good either.

Really? That's interesting information. Yes, we returned in the same location. Thanks for the update, and watching!

Yeah, this was also a 5 seater. I'm not sure Hertz bought any 7's. Thanks for watching!
How can I be sure to get a Tesla? All I see are manager's special with no model guarantee
Probably location based. It said I was guaranteed a Tesla and almost didn’t get one either, so who knows.
What percentage were you expected to return the Tesla?
They want it back with 70% or more. Thanks for watching!
Did the car have a mobile charger and/or a J1772 adapter? If not, would it have been worth it to bring yours on the trip?
This one did have both of those in the square Tesla bag. I did travel with my Tesla made CCS adapter though.
Yes, usually it's in the frunk
I was thinking of renting one from Hertz for ride share, but paying $1600 / week for a car that you can finance for half of that requires a lobotomy.
Sure, but you’d get the lobotomy as a bonus!
@@TeslaTipsTrips Haha sorry, I'd like to keep my ability to do simple math.
Excellent video as usual. Some Uber drivers are doing this.
