    Join me on an adventure as I delve into the world of electric mountain bikes (EMTBs) and put Trek's Fuel EXe to the test in the rugged terrain of the Surrey Hills. In this video, I'll share my firsthand experience riding the Fuel EXe, a full suspension EMTB from Trek, and discuss whether investing in an EMTB is the right choice for mountain biking enthusiasts. From the exhilarating trails to the practical considerations of owning an electric bike, we'll explore the pros and cons, and ultimately debate whether purchasing an EMTB is worth it. If you're on the fence about buying an electric mountain bike, this video might just help you make that decision. Let's ride and discover together!

    I leave mine "on" all of the time, but set the low setting to be just barely noticeable to cancel out the slight drag from the motor+additional weight. "Off" is harder to pedal than a normal MTB. My medium setting is set to where it gives me enough power to make climbing easier, but still requires some effort. High is just set to full blast to tackle the steepest of steep pitches. More often than not I'm riding between low and medium with very rare use of high.

    Just bought the exe a month ago or so, upgrading for a gen 5 fuel ex. Must say, this is worth it every day. I'm riding more, more days, and longer rides.
    Also have room for only one bike, but no way I'm going to acoustic only. Just love riding this thing

    Been riding for over 3 decades and finally purchased a 9.8 on an interest free loan thru Trek w/ zero regrets!… it will be last bike I buy!! 💪🏼🪶😁
    I had no problem selling my Gen 6 Fuel EX 9.9 (got it free upgrade from Trek on warranty… I get free frames cause ride them till they break!🤓🤑) and honestly can’t tell the additional 8.6 lbs… specially if properly pre-load on DH and use motor uphill.
    I could go on and on, but will end with this advice… really take time to fine tune the TQ motor so can really make it the last bike you’ll buy!… depending on settings I get to choose between acoustic & eMTB for my Strava rides.
    Btw, I can actually beat friends w/ Trek Rail on climbs in same shape as me cause EX-e is sooo much more efficient!

      Both the fuel ex and exe are great bikes and amazing you got some great deals! What I love about the fuel exe is you still have to work, when I rode the rail I pretty much left it in turbo the whole time. People are starting to compare motors with the new dji, as they are now making lighter powerful motors but I feel this is a different experience. I want to work out when I ride and just need that little help when I need it.
      One bike I would love to try is the Slash + but it’s way too much bike for me, I don’t ride enough park or enduro to warrant one. In my mind would love to enter some enduro events.

    What’s it like to pedal when the motor is off? Or above its speed limit?

    • @DanEscapes
      @DanEscapes  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I found it pretty easy to pedal without the assist, but once you go full power and hit the speed limit of the motor you really feel the weight of the bike. Personally I prefer to ride it like a normal bike on the flats and when the hills get too much then add the assist. If It was a higher powered e-bike I’d just leave the assist on the whole time.

    • @DanEscapes
      @DanEscapes  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      Depends what you want from the bike, I can easily ride this bike without the power all day. I only turn it on when the hill gets abit too much and that’s what these light powered e-bikes are for. If you want full assist all the time then go for the big batteries and more power! I’ve tried both and having the extra power is super fun but for what I want the light powered assist is perfect. All down to personal preference.

    • @DanEscapes
      @DanEscapes  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      We’re getting into a strange time where there are now too many options on the market. People want lighter e-bikes so are having to get low powered motors. For me the fuel exe will always be more of an acoustic bike and has the assist if you need it. There are more motor manufacturers like dji who are building small light weight motors with the same power has full powered e-bikes. The technology is only going to change and will make these bikes outdated quickly.

    • @TenaciousPandilla

      It’s all subjective… my EX-e keeps up with Friend’s Rail cause they don’t ride almost every day like me… and on epic days (say at Bentonville) my 360w last just as long as their 650w.
