I was fishing from a paddleboard in the Florida Keys and got stopped by law enforcement FWC and it turns out I need a lifejacket, whistle and lights on my paddleboard. I did not know this...
I spend the next 3 days fishing in the mangroves and hiding from the law. If I got pulled over while fishing again I was defiantly going to get a ticket. So it sort of felt like running from cops, although obviously this catch and cook is not so serious.

You should never be running from cops! Just stick to fishing and if you break the law on accident I guess you gotta take the ticket. I hope you enjoy this catch clean and cook. It's not the best snapper fishing we've had on the South Florida Fishing Channel but it was a great time filming some solo fishing

That fish at 24:11 is a dog snapper. The give away coloration is the white "teardrop" triangle below the eye. The schoolmaster does not have that.

As far as what lure to use, remember the phrase - match the hatch. Look at what's around that your targeted species go after and find the lures that look like them.

Get some carabiners and some shock cord. I knew about the pfd. Didn’t know about the whistle. When the weather went to crap during mini season, we ended up catching out lobster off the paddle boards.

Ok so you said something about nighttime snook fishing the mangroves.....ok so jonboat nighttime snook fishing in the mangroves sounds good, looking forward to watching that one.
I learned that it would not be good for me to go paddle boarding and fishing at the same time, because I am very sure that I would end up in the water more times that I can count, especially trying to set the hook.

Crystal River is my back yard. Fishing inshore what works for me is weighted jig and live shrimp. I never use the Gulp.

Start using a 15-20 lb fluoro leader with an 1/8 oz jig head for artificial paddle tails. Darker water, darker colored baits, clear water, lighter baits. But you definitely need to use some type of leader like about 3 feet long.

You have a TH-cam channel watched by all age groups. First, I want to say I grew up in Miami, back in the 50s-70s. Things were a great deal more relaxed then.
When my wife encouraged me to buy a boat, she made this statement. “Honey, I know you have been wanting a boat, but make me one promise. When you are out in the boat, please ‘promise’ you will always wear your PFD.”
M’lady loves me, and that statement reinforced that love. I have forgotten only once, and only realized it while reeling in a big fish. I was horrified. I can swim, no problem, but living in the northern tier, the water gets very cold, and hypothermia is a real danger.
I have been hypothermic in warm water as well. So look, you have kids watching, and flaunting the law intentionally sends a bad message to all who fish.
What happens should you smack your upper brain assembly in a fall from your paddleboard and are KOed?

I have a problem with law Enforcement, on the water they are assholes. What if you want to swim off your paddle board ? Will they handcuff you on theire boat ? , thats not safe handcuffing someone that can swim on a boat that they cant operate safely.
