You are absolutely correct when say Toyota doesn't care about this issue. I own a 2022 Platinum and wireless charging is temperamental at best. Thanks for posting the video.

Maybe Toyota would fix it if they could charge us $10/mo for this feature as a subscription.

Sounds like this issue is with other Toyota models too. We pay a lot of money for our Toyota cars and trucks. Hopefully, a class action lawsuit in the near future will hold Toyota responsible.

You really did a great job detailing your experience and legally Toyota should be required to recall all their wireless chargers for vehicles 2018 and up.

Thank you for posting this problem with Toyota's wireless charger. I upgraded to an iPhone 15 so that I could charge my phone in our Yaris Cross which didn't work so I bought a case for my new phone with a Qi charger but still no joy. Next step, like you, is to go to the garage and tell them it's not working, our garage is roughly an hours drive away too! The Toyota user guide may as well be written in Chinese! Grrrr! Our car is a 2024 model just out of interest.

So you should know that this very issue affects UK Toyota Corolla models, and probably more models that I have not pursued. The Issue is the one charging coil is so weak in UK models it will not as far as I am aware charge any phone with a camera bump, as in the cameras are raised up above the flat part of the phone. I have a Samsung S24 Ultra, and the only way I can get it to charge is to take it out of its case. This is not an ideal solution, because I want it in a case to protect it. I have tried the thinnest case I can get in the uk which is a plastic case at .03mm thick, and even this is too thick to allow the phone to charge. My car is now going to be part of a bit of UK legislation called the Consumer Rights Act 2015, which says that products supplied must be of a good enough standard to actually do what the product is designed to do, which it doesn't.
If my local dealer and Toyota UK both wash their hands of their responsibility to fix this very well known issue, i will just reject the vehicle and get them to give me my money back. If you think this is excessive just for a wireless phone charger you would be right, however I believe in standing up for what you believe in , and that's exactly what I'm going to do.

I am having the same issue in Germany.
The wireless charger is useless if I have a case on. luckily I have not had the need to use it, but I must say it is something I looked at when I went for this car.

My wife’s charger in her 2020 rav4 only sort of works if you take the case off your phone. But all the other wireless chargers that I’ve tried work with the case on. Even with the case off it can easily stop charging if you just breathe on it.

Mine doesn't work at all. I recently bought a 2021 Tacoma TRD Off Road with 60k miles. The first two days of ownership the wireless charger worked. Now however, when you turn it on nothing happens. Even the light in the charging bay will not come on. I do have an extended warranty but I believe it's powertrain only. So this wireless charger probably not covered. But it's something minor so I'll just stick to the old tried and true method of using a usb cable which typically charges pretty quickly.

I think it's a symptom of OEM vehicle chargers. I had a Dodge Ram that had a charger just as crappy. After taking them apart and looking at it closely, the charging pad on both of these chargers are like 1.5x2", which is VERY small - especially given the size of phones these days.

I have a 2016 Camry Hybrid. The charging used to work. It was rather slow but it did work. Then one day it would start to connect, then stop pretty quickly. Now it doesn't work at all. No light, no nothing. I do know it was a $75 option. Maybe it broke, don't know. I did like laying my phone there when my wife was traveling with me as she could use the separate USB to charge her phone at the same time.

I haven’t seen anyone mention THE BUBBLE!!!!!
I tried using the wireless charger in my 2020 Tacoma for the first week, then gave up because it didn’t work.
So I kept it turned off from that point on. I noticed even though it was off and I wasn’t storing anything in that space, the rubber surface would still get crazy hot. About a month later noticed the giant bubble in the middle of the (originally flat) rubber surface. The rubber seems to have delaminated from the plastic. So I basically have an expensive giant rubber ZIT that I desperately want to pop staring at me while I drive!!!

2020 camry and same issue with iPhone 15. But with my old note 7 no issues. My thoughts is the camera bump on the iPhone is too large now and when you put the iPhone on the pad you can see space between the phone and the pad. I can’t see that on the note phone. What I want to know if there is something that can raise the qi bump up more or maybe I get a file and file down the sides of the qi holder to make room for the camera bump on the iPhone. Be nicer if I could just add a piece of conductive material to the qi charging area though.

Same problem with my 2021 Corolla hybrid, what causes this was the MagSafe at back of the iPhone could irritate the chargers, if you charge another phone without MagSafe, it’s all good. I don’t normally use wireless chargers anyway, they are rated 5W in Toyota cars and I would rather have my phone plugged in to a powerful PD charger

It only works for 10 min that's how it is on my GR Corolla. The problem is there's no fan and it gets hot on the pad. I just leave my Tesla power bank on that charger and just plug my phone through the type c port. It's not just Toyota. The same thing happens on parents Tesla model Y. Plug your phone that's the with a lighting/type c cable that's the only reliable connection...

They finally fixed the charger....on the new 2024 Tacoma! lol. This design is definitely flawed but Toyota won't admit it. Also, newer iPhones don't make it any better, with their huge camera bump, just won't charge at all, even without a case. Funnily, an older iPhone SE works fine on the charger, even with a thick Otter case, probably because it does lay flat on the charger versus the newer iPhones.
