    I have had my insta pot for a month. I finally made hard boiled eggs as my test run. Then I this recipe for my second test run. I was so nervous but it came out fantastic. The flank steak fell apart into little chunks which was fine. I might cut them thicker next time. Either way it was delicious. Thank you.

    I just made some using this recipe. I absolutely loved it. I didn’t have soy sauce but I did have Worcestershire sauce but it was perfect. And I also used ginger/garlic paste so I didn’t put separate garlic because the ginger paste had it. It was the quickest meal I’ve ever made. It was also my first meal using the Instapot. Thank you ❤️

    Thanks for the keto options, that’s pretty awesome. You can also replace the soy sauce with coconut amino‘s. A lot of Keto people don’t want to eat the soy either and coconut amino‘s are pretty good soy sauce alternative, It’s pretty much the same thing just made from coconut instead of soy.
    The brownie is important to your right. Nichole at the Maillard reaction, it’s where the proteins in the meat break down and become sugars and that’s what makes brown it’s caramelizing your meat, literally and that is one of the strongest and best flavors in here to not do it would be like not putting soy sauce in here or not putting the bullion in here it makes a huge difference and that’s some of the best flavor you get and all of this and makes a huge difference. Definitely an important step. You could also do it in a walk or a big pan of people don’t want to wait to use the instant pot doing it in batches but then just pour your sauce in the pan after and scrape it and pour all that in the Insta pot. And you’re definitely right about not flipping it too soon. If the meat sticking let it sit there for a minute when it’s done it’ll break free so just nugget with the tongs or the spoon and if it doesn’t move leave it for a little bit longer and try it again and eventually it’ll move and that’s when it’s done. Once it gets that little bit of the crust on there it will stop sticking to the pan.
    This looks pretty awesome I’m gonna have to give it a try. Thanks.

    Looks delish! Many ppl in Hawaii add a touch of carbonation to help breakdown the meat such as 7-Up. I wonder if a tap of Oyster sauce would be good, too... I’m making this on Friday. Thanks, for sharing!

    • @cookingwithlori6566

      By using chuck roast, the meat became very tender. If you use a left fatty cut of meat, like too round, then I would add 7-up. Let me know how it turns out for you! 😊

    I made this sans Instant Pot - just takes a lot longer to get my meat to the tenderness that I like! The reason I am commenting, though, is that I followed your keto-version sauce to a tee and OMG the fam went bonkers! My daughter, who is not a child, and hates everything, said: this is really, really, REALLY good!” & my husband said, “this is BETTER than any beef & broccoli that I’ve ever had out or as takeout!” Suffice it to say, This recipe is a keeper! Thank you so much! I wonder if this sauce would work with chicken?

    I love this recipe just made the keto version. Only thing is the xanthum gum didnt cause it thicken, and I used twice the ammount (1/2 tsp), any suggestions or did I screw up?

    • @cookingwithlori6566
      @cookingwithlori6566  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Xanthum gum is tricky to work with. There’s a fine line between thickening the sauce and making it slimy. You can always try thinking it with almost flour which is low carb. I’m glad you liked the recipe!

    • @10Hammers
      @10Hammers 4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Xanthan gum doesn't emulsify very well in liquid but it does in fat. Do not dump it in the gravy or you will get clumps. I used a teaspoon of nut oil and 1/4 tsp of xanthan gum then whisked in 3 TBS of liquid. Whisk thoroughly then add and stir in small increments until desired consistency.

    • @Penelope9441
      @Penelope9441 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Late to the party, but I like to add the 1/4 tsp of XG to a tsp of water and drop the little clump in. I don't know why but it thickens up better that way for me.

      Or you could just do it on your stove. The meat really doesn’t need more cooking than the sautéing since it’s sliced so thin. Then add the sauce and broccoli and cook that. I think it would be quicker that way than using the instapot.

    Stupid question time ....
    does the insta pot go automatically to 10 minute cool down? Or is there a setting you need to do for it?

    • @cookingwithlori6566
      @cookingwithlori6566  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Maryann! This is not a stupid question. When any recipe you cook, once the cooking time completes and gets to 0, the display shows L00 which means cooking time has completed, and if your Keep Warm setting was on, it will go into keep warm mode abs the pot is depressurizing. If your pot does not have the keep warm button engaged, it will shut off and begin the natural pressure release. The pot will count upwards to 10 minutes in this case to show natural pressure release of 10 mins.

    Question - in the ingredients section of the video you list 1 C water and further down you also list 1C beef broth using better than bouillon and 1 C water. I watched the whole video - 3 or 4 times to write everything down - but I never saw where the first 1 C water was used. I saw 1/4C water to deglaze the pot after searing. Where is the first 1C water used? Did I miss something?

      it is generally a bad idea to wash meat. Washing it will not kill all of the bacteria but will increase the risk of spreading potentially harmful bacteria. The high temp of cooking the meat will kill any bacteria on the meat.
