What I like watching in these videos is Josh and Chad's connection. Josh is an amazing drummer and you can tell he really feeds off of Chad and has nice reactions to certain drum fills. (3:35-3:38)
It sounds different, and in a good way. I adore John but for Josh to be playing in exactly the same style as John would be a bad move. I like Josh's more gentle approach and he's just adorable to watch!

Yeah, well Irons and Martinez were drummers, and besides Navarro, Josh, John, Sherman and Slovak, none of them ever tracked or composed a single song, so they can't compare.
People need to get their shit together. Josh is flawless in this performance, if the guitar was a bit louder in the mix and and you closed your eyes most people hating on Josh wouldn't even be able to tell whether it was John or Josh playing.
I fully believe Josh is looked down upon by the community simply because he was seen as more of a replacement, someone to fill the shoes left by John and whom he was always compared to. His albums with the Chili Peppers are fire (especially The Getaway, my nick was inspired by that album lol)
And now John is back so all these moaning that Josh was far from John can stfu. Josh is wonderful and filled Johns shoes the best he could. They kept him around for 10 years. Wish him luck in his next venture now he has such huge exposure ❤️
Josh is one of the publicly most underrated musicians , yet the top bands especially now Pearl Jam have him onstage playing every instrument and vocals at every show.

The way they sound different and how Anthony sings the song and whatever. This is their sound now. The only way the band would grow as a band is to move on and play the songs the way they want it not the other way around.
