Why I Don't Criticize Other Religions Besides Islam (Although I'm an Atheist)

  • Some people will always bring up other religions when you say anything about Islam. Some will discredit you for focusing on one. As if being a former Muslim was not enough, here is why I don't have anything to say about other religions.

That said, I am naturally opposed to religious groups or people exercising injustice, violence, or supremacy. Not because it’s religious, but because of the nature of such actions.
But I don’t need to occupy myself hating and fighting religions over moral disagreements, especially if they give more peace than hate. I will intellectually fight, however, if the main global theme of a religion is hostility and supremacy.

@@kbityy Actually no. Paganism is part of European culture & history (before christianity tried stamping it out lol) abrahamic religions are becoming irrelevant in general - not just in politics, but also in other parts of life & society. Especially in the town I live in more & more people leave their religions and churches are getting closed down due to lack of money flow (followers) these same churches then become retrocades/bars/skating rinks & sometimes bowling alleys...which are far more important because they're an excellent source of entertainment and makes our town flow in prosperity. See there used to be a church in almost every corner of town and the people there just struggled to get by and were miserable - but now it's booming and is more lively now that religion has become almost non existent here - the irony lmao. There's now but one church on the outskirts of town and only a small handful of people go there. I can only hope this happens more rapidly around the world lol.

I am a Hindu and I think Hinduism goes very well with the modern times. It has always had a pluralistic approach. There's no "one strict path" prescribed, it has embraced atheism from the very beginning, and I think it is one of the only religions in the world that openly accepts all forms of sexualities. Kindness towards animals, non violence, respecting women (scriptures address women as 'devi' which means 'goddess'), the law of Karma, and many modern ideologies have been avidly described. Maybe this is the reason why the country where Hinduism originated is still a home to diverse religions, where minorities enjoy equal and in some aspects, even greater rights than the Hindu majority.

I was born into a Christian family in a religious environment, I attended churches most of my life. Over the years I questioned myself about my faith, until I came to the conclusion that I was an atheist at 17 years old.
From then on I realized how difficult it was not to follow any religion in a country as religious as mine.
What I mean by all of this is that... in a hypothetical reality, even if it were proven that there is some supernatural being who created everything, and that we can call him “God”, I would hardly return to Christianity or any religion. But I would be sure that my theses were wrong.
I know that it is impossible to prove that he exists in the same way that it is impossible to prove that he doesn't exist, that is why I am an agnostic atheist ;)

@@aakashmandal1008 so it means I should hate Christians , that is totally wrong , a person is bad or evil not their religion , you would find there are good and bad also in a religion but that doesn't means religion is wrong , if you take example of Schindia , they belong to marathas and they were Hindus too, but they were traitors , you would find a number of examples in history that our religion people has betrayed us, and for kind of your information they ruled over us but they never took away anything , kohinoor was always in India until British came , Taj Mahal was there the national treasure by which we stand with pride and our country earns tons of money , they never steal but they ruled , in history it was the golden period , European traders also came in their period because that was the time when our country was called , Bird Of Gold . They considered this land as there mother , and I also want to include that Hindus were also on the highest ranks , even Rajpoots were independent kings in partnership with them. If they were evil they would have killed all Hindus but they consider them brothers cause at that time there was no idea of differences , they also established brotherhood. Queen Jodha was never converted. Maybe there are very small no. of people those who hurt some but majority of them were good, . But Britisher the evil applied divide and rule and created differences among religions to rule over us . And The Great Tulsidas was existed in the reign of them only , and he never complained , and his works were promoted widely and never banned. Because in their reign everyone was treated equally, you can see all the temples are preserved from Chaar Dham to South epic Meenakshi temples(king of temple in treasure)and Konark temple to Brahma Temple(Rajasthan, oldest temple) you can see most of the temples are preserved even small ones , so you can't claim that our treasure destroyed. Maybe we are not sure , some are effected but we don't know the situation at that time , who destroyed them were bad people , and we can't defame whole empire due to small no. Of bad people , because they have done good is more . It is very wrong to claim that all are wrong. And Religion never teaches to hurt others, if Raavan was Brahmin Hindu, we can't say all Brahman are bad. Don't humiliate religion or their people because it is oppression. My intention was not to hurt you or to humiliate you and your views but to just, to give you the truth and to take a stand on this. If you hurted I am sorry. Thank You

      Genesis 19:30-38
30 Lot and his two daughters left Zoar and settled in the mountains, for he was afraid to stay in Zoar. He and his two daughters lived in a cave. 31 One day the older daughter said to the younger, “Our father is old, and there is no man around here to give us children-as is the custom all over the earth. 32 Let’s get our father to drink wine and then sleep with him and preserve our family line through our father.”
33 That night they got their father to drink wine, and the older daughter went in and slept with him. He was not aware of it when she lay down or when she got up.
34 The next day the older daughter said to the younger, “Last night I slept with my father. Let’s get him to drink wine again tonight, and you go in and sleep with him so we can preserve our family line through our father.” 35 So they got their father to drink wine that night also, and the younger daughter went in and slept with him. Again he was not aware of it when she lay down or when she got up.
36 So both of Lot’s daughters became pregnant by their father. 37 The older daughter had a son, and she named him Moab[a]; he is the father of the Moabites of today. 38 The younger daughter also had a son, and she named him Ben-Ammi[b]; he is the father of the Ammonites[c] of today.

    3:15
the crusades were actually justified. During the time of the Roman Empire, the Romans had made the Mediterranean sea into a safe place. There was little to no piracy, and Europe used it oftenly for trade. During the early Islamic Conquest, however, they made the Mediterranean sea into a hell hole. They made it hard for Europe as a whole to trade and caused Europe to be in an economic downfall. Not only that, but they took Christian regions and turned it into Islam by force (North Africa and Middle east). Christians within those regions were second-class and often sold as slaves, there was also a tax called the Dhimmi Tax which forced Christians to pay a huge sum. This was mainly the reason why alot of Churches during that time were shut down. Islam's Golden Age is in 700-1100 AD, while the European dark ages was in 600-1000 AD. During 1000 AD, Europe had finally gotten much wealthier and had better knowledge, and only then did they know how much Islam had damaged Europe. Europe finally realized that Islam was a threat to them, this was further proved by the Byzantine's desperate call for help. During the time, the West (Catholicism) and East (Orthodox) were enemies of each other. The popes couldn't get along, and they overall just disliked each other. But the Crusades had caused people of all nationalities to unite. From Germans, to Franks, to English, to other nationalities, they all united to take back the Holy land and keep Islam from destroying Europe. That unity alone showed how much Europe was desperate to drive Islam away, and all the damage Islam had done to Europe

The people who say Hinduism does not tolerate atheists must check that many schools of thought are infact from the atheists point of view. They don't know, in ancient times, we had an atheist community, Charvaka, whose intellectuals are still respected even by theist Hindus. You don't even have to be a believer to be a Hindu. It is a cultural identity of those people who lived in Indian sub-continent. Our culture and faith have been the most respectful to the atheists.

We don't hate atheists!! We don't kill any ex-hindu for apostasy. We discuss and debate. We ask tough questions even to our Gods, like Arjun did to Sri Krishna. But we respect other's beliefs. We have no problem with atheists who live and let live. Those atheists who want to spew hate against us and denigrate our tradition by spreading rumours and misconception. Those, who want to desecrate our temples to insult us. Eg- Sabrimala. They will have to face aggressive reaction socially, intellectually or in any other way required for us to defend our tradition, our Dharma. They can mock us, we can mock them. I went to school with muslims. a few were very friendly, but most of them weren't the nicest of people. they would constantly push islam onto everyone (especially during religious education) put down other religions and wouldn't socialise with other students unless they were muslim. as far as i know i don't remember in the quran specifically written in anywhere to fight to spread our beliefs, the islamic people who believe it made it up and this guy blames the entire religion for that. it's basically like saying all white people are racist because some white people were racist and a few still are. those who fight for islam in order to defend themselves are true islamic people but those that are fighting and/or killing to spread islam are actually sinners, islam is focused on defence and brotherhood.
like many other religions truly this guy is giving 80% lies about the religion.

Are you doubting something? With faith doubting means NOT to have faith, how do you think it's going to work? Why follow Christ then? I'm tired hearing there "we must critisize" from christians, what exactly do we have to critisize? God? Holy Spirit and His inspiration? You should have done that when you were accepting that - this is the point, no one is born/forced to be christian.
Critisize people? We're not to judge people, but we can reproof them. You're just playing he game of pretending "i am like you" and everyone sees that, people will respect you if you will have hard strong position, not other way around.
I'm not saying "don't critisize", i just don't understand that about christianity. Doubting faith? Really? What's the point?

As a Christian I too am constantly questioning others and my own beliefs, I eventually get answers and those answers don’t contradict with my faith. If something does, I’ll look into it deeply and see what society has to say, and what the Bible has to say. I haven’t heard the actually physical voice of my God nor have I seen Christ in the flesh, but I believe in what he stands for, and have faith that beyond the universe, there is a just God that will judge us fair, and he is truly good and loved us that he would eventually send his own to die for us. That faith is better coping than drugs, alcohol, addictions, and even some philosophies. I too want to think with logic, but I will not go to the degree to think purely with logic. If we did, we wouldn’t be human. Theology is also very important when it comes to the legitimacy of religions. If it can actually be disproved physically, historically, and religiously, it will fall. At the end of the day religion will always require faith, that is the core of religion.

As a Zorostrian who loves every religion and atheism and lives in muslim country, I have to say the only religion that should be removed from the world is islam, just for an example, when they come to my country they killed people, commit genocide (for example: Ctesiphon, it had 500.000 people just before islam came here which makes it world’s 3rd biggest city of that time, destroyed just in a day) banned my religion and then forced us to be muslim.
Even with these ferocities they have done, still in this muslim country they say that “with islamic conquests we brought peace and enlightenment to Iran and Middle east” and this makes me so angry, they literally removed my religion from my country and they fucked up Iran, for example Iran was world’s major power and one of the biggest nations for 1500 years, but just after islam, Iran became shit. And as a ex-muslim I love to see Iran is becoming Zoroastrian day by day, there is massive amount of secret converting people in Iran and Iraq.
I wish for a world without Islam

Diarra Dunlap - There are also degrees of anti-theism. Some are vehemently anti-theist and would stamp out religion by force if they could. Some are less so and would probably leave it alone if it left them alone. I guess I'm somewhere in the middle. I would advocate that it is not taught to children (and I use reason to make such an argument) but would not argue for the destruction of churches or synagogues (etc.) or the abolition of traditional religious festivals such as Christmas or Easter (some would).

Sanket Bhagat In Hinduism also, it’s allowed to protect yourself and society. You forgot what Krishna said to Arjuna?? Hinduism has a sloka “Ahimsa Parmo Dharma, Dharma Himsa Tathaiva Cha” Which means Non-violence is the ultimate dharma. So too is violence in service of Dharma. But there is no concept of forceful conversion in Hinduism, neither fighting in the name of religion. Dharma means righteousness. Sometime we have to be violent to bring peace, for example our police. Police is needed in society, otherwise bad People will eat weak/good people

@Art Becherahh islamic lies, he converted after watching his video ?
Why do muslims lie all the time ? Is that why, you are called muslims ?
Because lying is in your blood ?
Thanks also for proving exactly , our point, that crazies like Islam what about van doorn , another far right nut , who was caught selling drugs to little kids....just like mo farking little kids
IN the United States, a grisly story made headlines last year when an 18-year-old former neo-Nazi in Tampa who said he had converted to Islam confessed to killing two (apparently still) neo-Nazi roommates, though that case is so grotesque, and the use of violence so far from mainstream Muslim practice, that it defies comparison to the European examples. (The suspect also shouted a nonsensical, non-Muslim phrase.)
For the recent crop of converts, trying on a new identity does not necessarily mean a new personality. Van Doorn, for example, has since his conversion transferred his vitriol toward Jews, making anti-Semitic comments that he passed off as jokes. He was also convicted in 2014 of selling drugs to minors and other offenses; he claimed he was conducting a sting, but a court rejected the excuse. Van Doorn, in other words, seems to have traded one form of charlatanism for another. This should not come as a surprise, though. His change of religion, and those of Wagner and Buttey, say more about the men themselves than they do about either far-right politics or Islam.
