I was 13 when my parents(father to be specific) forced me to wear the hijab. They didnt even bother to sugarcoat its fake virtue, they just hated me when i hit puberty and when i started to show they blamed for just that! I am 23 now, and i still wear it, even though i left islam a white back, I cant take the hijab off because i live in a country with 99% of muslim population, and i would probably be held captive in the house. I am studying to become a doctor, a job in which i will mainly work with people. Wearing hijab against my will for ten years made me develop social anxiety and depression, not only it restrained me from being myself, now it s jeopardising my future career and any chance of independence i have. Those who think that hijab = empowerment, PLEASE listen to the hundred or thousands -if not millions of stories like mine.

Gonna say the obvious here, not all Muslim men are like that. Compared to Sunnis, shias and bohris can be more modern. If you get all the conversion talk, extra rules, etc. out of the way right at the start and really gauge their mindset about religion, it's possible to have good relationships.

But the more I saw contrasting Egypt outside Cairo with the three thousand year old marvels I’d come to see, the more disappointed I’d become that Islam had taken the country to living standards worse than the ancient Egyptians had. I think it's because the Muslims are aware that their religion in the past has been viewed negatively in the West as mistreating women. And so they are trying to fight back and argue against that idea by trying to portray Islam as woman-friendly and feminist. They also probably value female converts to the religion a lot I'm guessing, because the men want multiple wives.
I think at 17/18 yrs old, learning what feminisim is about and then learning about Islam and realising that Western women and quite a large amoun0t of men, refuse to acknowledge how Islamic women are being treated by the men, and their views on white women aswell. I decided not to subscribe to feminisim because of this, as everything they stand against their not discussing, and If we do, were "islamophobic" and racist. I remember going down a rabbit hole and seeing the most vial and horrific things being done to women. Large groups of men surrounding women throwing rocks and bashing them with wooden planks. A female journalist from the UK was in Egypt doing a story on the celebration of the new priminister. When suddenly all the camera crews lights went out and next thing she was getting dragged through the crowd of men, ripping off her clothes, pulling her hair and limbs. Bystanders were laughing and chearing, saying 'someone's getting lucky tonight' and 'fuck that white slut' etc. I'm 24 now and still stand by my opinions on feminisim and Islam, both are cowards and if you are a true feminists, then you wouldn't be supporting this religion and staying silent on the matter.

Muslims claim that it is perfect and fascinating in Arabic is very false. For example a famous sentence that Muslims use is “Allahuma Sali Ala Saidna Mohammad اللهم صلي على سيدنا محمد"....in Arabic that means :” O God pray on our master mohammad” :D... in the English version they try to manipulate the meaning to indicate that m: god bless Mohammad!! Of course Arab Muslims are too brain washed to pay attention ...but things are changing !! If you notice how many different variations of the English Koran there are...these are all attempts to apply make up to make it less embarrassing for non Arab speakers (and to manipulate them of course).. I always think what miserable lives Muslim men have if that's there attitude to women and how they treat them. It surely can't be fulfilling, companionable, warm, loving, enriching etc - or for that matter. It must be quite a lonely existence. Also, I've always regarded polygamy, in whatever society or ideology, as just plain greedy. Given that boys and girls are born on roughly equal numbers (if I recall circa 106 boys born for every 100 girls but boys more likely to die so by adulthood, the numbers are as near equal as makes no difference) if one man has four wives, then he is robbing three other men of the chance for even one wife.

So I've been watching a lot of AP now as an ex-Muslim, and before I chose this path myself, I had someone try to convince me Islam is wrong. Most feminists and leftist have twisted mental representations when it comes to power structures and value. They subdivide people and categories into oppressors and oppressed. White and christians detain power (at least in their mind) hence they are evil. Brown and muslims = oppressed, hence they have endless virtue and knowledge. I remember in the 90s, that the subject of FGM (Female Genital Mutilation) getting wide publicity. Even then these discussions were always discussed in terms of it having nothing to do w/ Islam. I'm a feminist and I agree with all of what you've said. I also studied Islam and Quran years ago and agree that these things are mentioned in Quran and Shariya. I'm not a Muslim, never was. But because of my curiosity to know everything. I didn't let limit myself and I started learning and reading different philosophies and religion of around the world. And now, after immense amount of knowledge I gained over the years, I can say with full confidence that it's the worst religion/cult in the world. By the way all these Abrahamic religions are the same. There's no room for change and improvement in Islam and it's more of a cult than a religion. There's no philosophy and wisdom of life in Islam. I was 13 when my parents(father to be specific) forced me to wear the hijab. They didnt even bother to sugarcoat its fake virtue, they just hated me when i hit puberty and when i started to show they blamed for just that! I am 23 now, and i still wear it, even though i left islam a white back, I cant take the hijab off because i live in a country with 99% of muslim population, and i would probably be held captive in the house. I am studying to become a doctor, a job in which i will mainly work with people. Wearing hijab against my will for ten years made me develop social anxiety and depression, not only it restrained me from being myself, now it s jeopardising my future career and any chance of independence i have. Those who think that hijab = empowerment, PLEASE listen to the hundred or thousands -if not millions of stories like mine.

It made me feel kinda sad and disappointed that their ancestors were so great and powerful leaving monuments and statues that endure over three thousand years later in some places, and had been making huge strides in technology and medicine in comparison to the rest of the world at the time…
But at some point had converted to Islam and now it’s a backwards sh*thole that lags so far behind most of the western world. All right, most parts of Cairo and a few of the other big cities are modern cities. But if you leave those cities it very much becomes a third world country.
I remember being actually a bit afraid when we left the airport and were being taken by coach to the Nile River Cruise. I looked outside and saw things I had only seen in those charity adverts asking for money to help build wells and stuff in the poorest regions of Africa. Because I was travelling with my family I wondered how quickly my parents could arrange to get us flown home.
It turns out they were having basically the same thoughts. Both of them were thinking that we had all made a terrible mistake. I’m not even ashamed to admit that I was worried even after we got to the cruise ship and saw my cabin. It wasn’t until we’d had our evening meal and realised that the food was good that I felt better.
But the more I saw contrasting Egypt outside Cairo with the three thousand year old marvels I’d come to see, the more disappointed I’d become that Islam had taken the country to living standards worse than the ancient Egyptians had. Or in the very least about equal.

I think at 17/18 yrs old, learning what feminisim is about and then learning about Islam and realising that Western women and quite a large amoun0t of men, refuse to acknowledge how Islamic women are being treated by the men, and their views on white women aswell. The first point is that: the Arabic language itself is an embarrassment to Muslims ...indeed it proves more that Islam is false.
Historically, the Arabic language of today came to existence AFTER Mohammad died ! In fact the Quran is the first book written in the Arabic language ...there are NO archeological evidences/ scriptures/ scrolls/books that indicate the existence of the “Arabic” language PRIOR to Islam. The oldest found small scroll of the Quran (a whole Quran was never found.. it is an Islamic lie)... is now in Paris ..it was written in a writing called “Hijazi” Arabic which is so primitive that it is un-dotted and basically unreadable !
Now the big question to Muslims should be: WHY DID THEIR ALLAH CHOSE A PRIMITIVE (developing) LANGUAGE TO REVEAL HIS FINAL PERFECT MESSAGE TO HUMANITY-as Muslims claim.
Now there is a “Syriac” language which is very similar to Arabic ..Syriac is still spoken by some Christians in the Middle East..but it is still DIFFERENT ..reading the Koran in Syriac gives it a whole different meaning (very embarrassing to Muslims as well)..I advice you to have a look at a book written by a German scholar “Christop Luxenberg: The Syro-Aramaic Reading of the Koran“ .
The second point is that for Arab speakers we can pin point laughable mistakes in the Quran both grammatically and linguistically..there are plenty of those mistakes. Muslims claim that it is perfect and fascinating in Arabic is very false.
For example a famous sentence that Muslims use is “Allahuma Sali Ala Saidna Mohammad اللهم صلي على سيدنا محمد"....in Arabic that means :” O God pray on our master mohammad” :D... in the English version they try to manipulate the meaning to indicate that m: god bless Mohammad!!
Of course Arab Muslims are too brain washed to pay attention ...but things are changing !!
If you notice how many different variations of the English Koran there are...these are all attempts to apply make up to make it less embarrassing for non Arab speakers (and to manipulate them of course)..

I always think what miserable lives Muslim men have if that's there attitude to women and how they treat them. So I've been watching a lot of AP now as an ex-Muslim, and before I chose this path myself, I had someone try to convince me Islam is wrong. As a feminist I completely agree. Feminism is about equality of the sexes and islam is anything but. So, why is the mainstream feminist movement defending islam??? I'm absolutely baffled and horrified. Nothing makes sense anymore.
Most feminists and leftist have twisted mental representations when it comes to power structures and value. They subdivide people and categories into oppressors and oppressed. White and christians detain power (at least in their mind) hence they are evil. Brown and muslims = oppressed, hence they have endless virtue and knowledge. The oppressed are always the good guys under every circumstance, even if they beat their wife and force her to have sx against her will due to her marital duties. The reality, as an atheist, is that modern bland christianity is much better and reasonable when it comes to women rights than the "oppressed" religion of peace. It seems like that the vast majority of feminists want to self sabotage their reference culture when the alternatives, all over the world, are a nightmare compared to this extremely weak version of christianity. In the west we talk about micro aggressions amd cat calling when, in other parts of the world, a 60 yrs old man can buy a 6 yrs old because a book written in the 7th century allows it. And feminists side with this sh!te because the white christian boogie man is clearly the real problem for women in the world, right ? Right.
I remember in the 90s, that the subject of FGM (Female Genital Mutilation) getting wide publicity. Even then these discussions were always discussed in terms of it having nothing to do w/ Islam. Even that pretense has been dropped now. The clear connection b/t FGM & Islam is all too obvious, it is the Islamists who fight laws against FGM.
Now no one talks about FGM at all. I am always astonished how the left drops things like this down the memory hole when they think the issues are inconvenient to their purposes.

I'm a feminist and I agree with all of what you've said. I also studied Islam and Quran years ago and agree that these things are mentioned in Quran and Shariya. I'm not a Muslim, never was. And now, after immense amount of knowledge I gained over the years, I can say with full confidence that it's the worst religion/cult in the world. I agree with your points about Islam, but when you said that patriarchy in non-muslim countries is made up, that wasn't right. Patriarchy exists almost everywhere to some extent, in Islamic countries there's an extreme form of it, but it doesn't mean it's non-existent in the rest of the world.

Yes, they very much pick and chose what they follow, especially the ones not living in Islamic countries. Any problematic passage they dismiss as "something that was practiced at that time", or, "it was for a special circumstance". If you read the tafsirs and Islamic history these verses were universal, but in today's world they are clearly wrong and problematic, so they sometimes get ignored.

I’m AFAB and I find all religions (especially Islam) incredibly offensive, cruel and a threat to my (and countless others) survival.
It’s been beyond frustrating to see (mostly western) feminists defend these misogynistic, homophobic religions, and call ex-muslim women who speak out about the abuse and trauma they experienced from Islam hateful bigots.
It honestly blows my mind how unwilling these so-called feminists are to actually read the Quran, Bible and other “holy” books to see for themselves how incompatible religion is with modern society.
And now I’m seeing a disturbing trend of younger people becoming more radicalised through a slurry of misinformation spread throughout social media platforms.

I agree. 99% of religions are incompatible with modern values. These holy books were written one thousand or two thousand years ago, full of misogyny and homophobia, or other horrible stuff, like supporting slavery and child abuse. How can people use these traditional values to guide their modern life?
Religion can reform. To be fair, Christianity is doing somewhat better than other religions. At least the Pope has no problem with same-sex couples now. But, many fundamental Christians always use the Bible to justify their misogyny and homophobia. Very horrible.
My niece says she likes Islam because it made a few things clear to her, things to do with human biology etc. She wouldn’t listen to me when I explained it wasn’t accurate plus they would have known things like this already in scientific Greece/Egypt etc. Have you got any Quran Biology videos I could send her lol

I'm from the east. Most if not all Muslim men call them kafirat (unbelievers). They make fun of them and call them st/upid. I hope you got full and fair recompense. When I was very young and first saw women wearing a sack over themselves, with two tiny eye holes I really thought this was some kind of joke I did not understand. Frankly, I still think the same way. I have a daughter and raised a step-daughter and I am offended by the basic concepts expressed by Islam of every aspect of women. My wife is not my slave, she has every right to express her self in any way (and damn sure does so all the time ! ), and is entitled to every right any person should have to do anything, including drive, vote, and talk to other men. I am always amused about jealousy expressed by any man about his wife, but especially so when it comes to a religious based and enforced jealousy. If I have such little faith in the love of my wife that I have to worry about her talking to or being alone with another man, then I need to divorce the poor woman and find someone who adores only me! Yes I am joking, this whole concept of how to treat a woman makes me sick. I often wonder just how long Islam can continue to victimize half the population of the world.
