I enjoyed seeing your process and hearing your comments as you drew. I personally don't have enough skill to go from a rough pencil drawing directly to ink. I always need to refine my pencil lines before tracing in ink. Congratulations on your highly developed skills.
Oh boy🥳 I can’t even begin to tell you how helpful this video is for me. You nail it in your explanation….especially the part about building the foundation of the house before decorating it🤣😂. I’ve been so struggling with my drawing and trying to get every detail that by the time I go to paint I’m fed up. Oh and yes…..breathe. Good point!💕Just discovered your site about 6am this Sunday morning. I’m sicker than I have been in years(not Covid…just a big fat cold)and in need of good news. Yer it! I subscribed for more fun💕
You’re so welcome! I teach an online watercolor course if you’d like more. ☺️ here’s the link: www.jessicasingerman.com/course/little-watercolor-square/
what a fantastic video! this was very calming to watch and get into the mindset I needed before working on my own illustrations today. I love the mindfulness aspect that you incorporate! A question for you: I see that you're using Micron pens; have you tried Faber-Castell PITT pens, and would you mind explaining why you prefer Micron?
Thanks Maddy! Glad you like it. I use Pigma Micron’s both out of habit and because they come in such a fine point. I use Pitts as well, but do enjoy the feel of the Micron’s better for this kind of drawing.
Hey Jessica, what size is your ink pen? I love this tutorial and want to follow your method for creating a permanent mark under watercolor. Thanks so much!

Hi Jessica, so glad to have come across your video. Which grade of pencil do you begin with?
Hi Melinda, you could use an HB or H, or simply use light pressure with whatever you have.
Taking something so difficult and break it down in steps.. thank you!
