This is one of the best analytic discussions of a squash shot I have seen. Excellent work.

Great video! This type of content doesn’t exist for squash! Keep them coming!

I was there at that match! few of us diehards dropped our jaws to the floor. Best shot of the match for sure.
Just discovered your channel. Great breakdowns and to have drills at the end too is great!

Ramy Ashour visited the squash academy here in Pune(India) where I play along with my two sons… we got to spend lot of time including a good 2 hours dinner some 10-12 of us on a table.
A very simple and humble guy with child like quality and yet having business acumen.

Finish reaching and stepping with your right foot if you swing with your right hand so you can reach farther and have good balance when recovering to the center of the court. Left leg for lefties 😉

A case of wrong place wrong time for Nick. If he'd taken just one step back after playing the drop he could have volleyed it.........a brilliant lob given the circumstances

Not sure how this drill helps in executing that lob. Ramy's shot came from a flick of the wrist and almost zero back swing.

The purpose of the drill is to get the ball to the top of the front wall while at the same time being extremely close to the front wall.. that's exactly what Ramy did and it's very advanced drill... try it out.

@@schoolofsquash2375 he did it without a full swing and the ball died in the back. Not with a full swing and the ball dying in the front

@@konspiracykid The full swing is for added deception... having the ball bounce in the front of the court allows you to do this as a solo practice, and it's also very difficult. Film yourself hitting 10 in a row up front and you've mastered the drill!

@@konspiracykid im with you unfortunately not OP... if you wanna get better at lobbing the ball... practice lobbing the ball... smh...

@@konspiracykid yeah... I'm not exactly, 100%, for sure, you know, _certain,_ that you know what a solo-drill is... Actually, I'm not even sure you know what words are. I mean, did I miss the bit where he said "I can play lobs better than Ramy"? Or where he said "Practicing this drill involves using _exactly_ the same mechanics as Ramy's shot"? Or where he said "These front-court lofted-drops are all sailing over the *T* and are landing in a perpendiculur fashion - flush to the back wall"? Cos I didn't...
