As a new producer, I'd say taking too much advice from tutorials can hinder your ability to produce. Having so much information when you're green to a new hobby is a way to get too overwhelmed, and turn you off from a hobby. Happened to me. I have so many ideas in my head, but when I go to a tutorial to try and get the sound, it's likely not what I'm looking for, or it's convoluded, and they say you'll have to buy a VST to get that sound. I've had my eyes on Omnisphere for a long time. But $500 for what!? A shortcut? Shortcuts tend to make your end result seem lazy, and then you're $500 broker, and have a lazy beat.
The old music website drooble was terrible for paid placements, promotions and was littered by bots. On a side note, I was also approached by a "promoter" to promote my music for $50. I don't make a whole hell of a lot from my music, so I said no. No point in paying for promotions when I don't make money off of it. I can also just do my own promotions as well, which I take a lot more pride in. Thank you Weaver Beats for your content!

...Over time, those quality reviewers will be sent "free stuff" as they've established themselves as "critics of note"... and most decent companies want the "honest" feedback, as they want to produce quality products, so sending out a few pre-launch is often cheaper than retaining "testers" as all time employees (eg Microsoft send out 1000 XBoxes or Pepsi reserve 400 litres for their "cola taste challenge or demo version/"1st month free" plugins - that's "research and development" budget)

Yes. As with "theft", there are many subcategories (shoplifting, mugging, fraud, armed robbery etc) You described "outright" scams and are right to include "long cons"/"Sucks to be you once you've bought it" (flashy/mass adverts, grotesque claims/promises, faulty product/poor customer service etc)
so I'm not sure if the Universal audio version is the same as the Eventide version, but the eventide version doesnt require an apollo, it uses ilok though. I just tested it with a demo.
I asked for a refund on my drum monkey. The plugin wasn't all that bad. It did speed up work flow like they advertised, but I don't make music in 30 genres. Besides that, how many times can you use the same drum loops. It wasn't value for my money. I was just curious bc that ad just kept popping up.
They are getting sneaky, man. I got a picture sent from a random US number, but it was a picture I would expect to get in my line of work! It was someone in China trying to get me to engage with them about their sales business.

And hot take time, Neural DSP amp sims.........shock horror but they sound great? yeh but they also cost between 100-150 for each sim, and yet I can buy sims for 5-30 that are very almost as good. Neural are not a scam, but I do think they are very gimmicky and the obsession with them in the guitar world is most irritating. A lot of snobs that say things like "Neural DSP really shows you whats possible" (usually framed in a condescending context e.g. the person this is addressed too is usually portrayed as a ludite/moron who knows nothing) and "unless its Neural its trash", which is just bullshit. 1-5 % improvement is not worth 4-5 times the cost outlay (also considering how little guitar tone actually matters in mixing compared to drums for guitar music is an irony lost on many guitarists). Scam is harsh on Neural, because their products are really good, I just think they are overpriced, and their fan boys are insufferable. Also I dont think Neural are ethically bad, I do think they are milking their customers a little though. Some would say "you get what you pay for" and I would reply, "I just bought the ML Super Duper for 5-8times less than any Neural, and its brilliant....are neural plugins 5-8 times more brilliant? ...no.
