It combines the best elements of nonjudgemental incremental work with enough technical and procedural detail to make it the perfect blend of inspirational and practical advice. Really amazing stuff!
Wholeheartedly agree! Nahre’s commitment to sharing her whole process is so valuable whether you are a musician, non musician creator or just a viewer looking for interesting content.
I love the positive message from this video.i love the honesty. Making money or a living as a professional musician is almost impossible without ambition and the ability to innovate and adapt. You are part of a generation that embraces technology and world trends. There are many musicians who are die hards, stubborn or just stuck. You need to add some other reasons to credit your success. You are naturally charismatic and your level of accomplishment is very high. You have made classical music very interesting - that is just you. Not everyone has this ability. However, at least your message is simple - give it a go. Better than wallowing in self doubt! Encouraging video!
Yes often times creators don’t mention the “soft” skills that can aid in one’s journey. Like you said she is charismatic and has a high level of skill. She has a nice speaking voice and on camera presence. She’s used to performing under pressure so that helps with getting over content creation. It’s easier to say technical things people can follow. It would be hard for someone who is an “attractive” musician to say “ Just be attractive and you will have success. That’s how I made it” It sounds vein but we know musicians that have terrible music but are marketable because of their looks.
We’re part of a culture that cares way too much about physical appearance. If you want to make something of yourself, stay in your own lane. Deal with the cards you have. Who cares if someone else is attractive and has success because of it. That’s not you. Discover your own beauty. Especially if you’re an artist
What I love most of all is that she prefaced it by saying that not everyone who is competent, has a niche, or even had some success in the past will want to pursue a career or even public hobby in music. It's exactly where I fall after having some success in my late teens and just losing my drive. When money started becoming a factor, all my passion just went out the window. I still enjoy production, but especially sound design and playing piano (my roots) to this day, but I have absolutely no interest in even sharing anything I do anymore. Maybe with time I'll be able to just enjoy sharing small but interesting things again, but it's just not where I've grown to despite people (somehow) finding and buying my music to this day. It always blows me away that people will stumble into and enjoy things I did 6-8 years ago despite 0 activity on said profiles/platforms. I know I ranted a bit, but realizing that you don't *HAVE* to be a professional musician, producer, etc can really open yourself up to new avenues that still enable you to keep all the joy you have from your creative endeavors without any kind of stress that comes from careership/professionalism in the area. It doesn't make you a failed musician, it doesn't mean you gave up, it simply means that you enjoy it all most when it's just you and your instrument. Music is fundamentally meant to be shared, but like a good joke, the drafts & missteps along the way are things people less familiar with it all typically overlook.
@@marciamakesmusic It's exactly how the world works, you're just misreading what they're saying. They aren't saying your physical appearance is irrelevant. They're saying letting it get in your head is a defeatist attitude. Plenty of artists have found success with a completely anonymous persona for their records. Many people find success who aren't conventionally attractive. The evidence to the contrary that, "that's not how the world works" is all around you. You're just focusing on the negative.
This is one of the many reasons I appreciate your work and content. You’re real, down to earth, and you speak with a lot of clarity. Thank you for sharing and keep on keeping on with the hustle
For everyone who just wants to live from making music as soon as possible: there is also busking. I do it for only one year and I do not yet have to live from it. But I can say that even now 30€ an hour is what I get. So with 1-2 hours a day I would actually already have enough to live. So teaching is not the only option, if you dont immediately "make it".
@@scrub_jay ditto that! Editing longer-form content from other creators (streams, podcasts, interviews, shows, explainers) and putting your own editing spin & style on the final clip is a great way to start! Just make sure you point people to the source content and credit the original creator 😉

Wow thank you for this!!! As a classically trained musician, it's been SUCH a journey my whole life trying to unlearn all the perfectionist tendencies and learn how to allow myself to improv, produce, and just generally have fun with music. This vid is the sign I needed to start getting serious with posting and sharing with the world! You are AMAZING and I am so grateful for you!
I LOVED this short when it came out. I immediately sat down in my studio and played my instrument for an hour (or more?). I didn't fully follow what you were doing, i got distracted by something else, as often happens, but your video was the trigger for an hour of creative fun. Thanks for the tips and for constantly being an inspiration to this guitarist.
I feel like I've been on the journey with Nahre for the last 4 years, while following my own path in learning about and working with music. One of the things that I have always appreciated about Nahre's work is the feeling that she is talking to you in a very personal, inviting space, and that she really cares that you are watching, and I believe that is because she wants to connect and share her love of music and music education, and all the rest of this is just in support of that effort. Thanks Nahre! You have been and continue to be a great inspiration!
You are head and shoulders above all the young people doing what you do. You are highly creative AND modest, like all true artists. I've learned more from you than anyone I've seen for years.
You are such a gift to all of us. You don't have to go out of your way to show us how you have overcome obstacles or breakdown your formulas for growth/success, but you do, and that is true generosity and kindness. The world needs more people like you. And I would absolutely love to hear all the details of how you practice the Schubert impromptus in excruciating detail, and a lot of us would agree! Again, thank you!
The problem is we grew up with the mindset of the yesteryear and in today's world we have lost our mental health. But our sister here really feels for the musician community. Thanks for the inspiring videos..
I really appreciate your vulnerability with this video. You've made so much great content over the years, and not only did I learn something new (thank you for the UA promotion!), but it's inspiring to see that we all struggle and how you overcame it. Not only that, but you're super humble, which is something I appreciate (you're so talented!). Thank you.
I think you are successful because you have excellent verbal and visual communication skills. This puts you ahead of those who are only good musicians. Your tone is always helpful and positive, yet realistic. Your thoughts are well organized and delivered in bite sized chunks. I'm retired and not interested in becoming a professional musician, yet I find your hints and videos quite helpful as I strive to simply improve my musician abilities Bless you❤

Great video Nahre on the importance of Social Media as a musician. It is so strange that during my times of studying in my undergrad. and grad. schools, never did I think that video editing would be such a crucial part of releasing music. A producer friend said to me, "If you don't have your music released on TH-cam, you are invisible.". I hope this starts being taught in music conservatories. I am happy that with your videos you have the quality of both your Classical training and your graphic design background marry so well.
I actually used this formula 13 years ago as a photographer and then again 10 years ago as a data analyst/researcher/software engineer. All around a consistent content strategy where I was putting ideas out as posts with a regular cadence until it was inspiring conversations that led to collaboration and future work.
I really like how honest and sincere you are with your ideas and your own career management, thank you so much for sharing your thoughts, you're amazing!
I like that fact of doing post 2 times a week. I think the idea of post everyday can be intimidating and this would work much better. And I appreciate your perspective on us musicians taking what we can from the social media era
It's sort of what Gary Vee (and others) have been saying all along: consistently document your journey and gradually, (with consistency and time) like-minded people will become drawn to it.
Who ON EARTH would post trash comments on Nahre's videos? This chick has been making pure effing ART for fricking YEARS, now. These things are masterclasses in knowledge, taste, creativity and tunefulness. I mean, have you actually been paying attention? No, I won't stand for it, be gone with you weirdos! A fine musician and filmmaker, just some of the best stuff out there. The nerve!
Haha, I totally agree with you! Sadly, there are people out there who are just crazy 🤪 and do not understand musicianship! :) That is their loss, though, and if they don't like it they should just go somewhere else :)
I've also found that a lot of the things I've chased over the years might not really be for me, and now my TH-cam channel has started growing after I started uploading regularly and I'm having lots of fun with it. So this was a nice video for me!
Great video Nahre as always of course, you're a proof that it is possible. Sadly, I've been struggling with being criminally underappreciated both as a pianist and music educator on the local level (=real life) . It's demoralizing seeing less qualified people always jump the queue to land the gig or job before me due to having connections - Although I have much more to show for in terms of my CV , Portfolio and actual value / technical ability I put on the table. I've been sending hundreds of letters to different countries abroad with no success. I've been working day and night to perfect my craft, improve and increase my knowledge. I've been advertizing myself on social media and trying to reach out to people but none of them is too serious. Feels bad seeing people doing a job I could do much better... yet not seem to land one myself. It's a bit negative I know, because on a rare happy occasion I do get a gig or a lecture booked and it's successful when it does happen. But still, I'm unlucky when it comes to where I live when it comes to sheer opportunity thus I'm working on relocating and praying for a good fortune to meet the right people who'd unlock my actual potential to give the best value to other people doing what I do best.
CV's don't mean anything because people lie on them and/or it's hard to validate information on them. It's much safer to hire someone you know who does the job well and you know. Also, CV's don't tell anything about personal traits: You can hire someone with a great CV and they are annoying, hard to comunicate, etc.
@@gustavoturm I couldn't disagree more. If you don't showcase what you do and just write a few words on your CV than yes you are correct. But if you do have much to show for in terms of presentations e.g images, videos, SIGNED documents, things you've done and developed and recommendations from past workplaces (and I have all of those and more) then it does tell an employer that they are now considering a serious hard working candidate for an interview. For the second part you are right, but that's moot because every employer takes a leap of faith when hiring a new guy. Good CV + Portfolio and impressions from past workplaces just mean the likelihood of that guy you hire being annoying, value-less or any other negative trait are lower. There's a reason why the system works, it's the wisdom of past generations.
I echo the gratitude of many of the earlier comments on this post. My perspectives on musical life were formed in the analog era. It’s been a honestly depressing realizing that way of thinking is dead. Finally I have some REAL inspiration and some ideas to manifest it. Best to you. 🙏🏿
Yes she is great as a pianist. I enjoy her channel a lot. The issue I have with Music these days there is none. It's not like the 60,70 and 80 when people made music and played real instruments. Now a days people just take pre played samples put them together and say they are a musician. Now I have had discussions with people and they tell me that they have skill to do this, TO me it's not a skill if you use someone else pre played samples. To me it's called cheating.
A clearly articulated, well presented explanation of a process that effectively removes the mystery barriers that stop so many. Good work. It’s the form of positive democratisation that the public should be encouraged to support. Your talent, resilience and resolve in the face of such contemporary challenges with, above all, your honesty, is deeply appreciated.
I am honestly not sure whether establishing a sustainable career as a TH-camr is that much more plannable than becoming a highly demanded performing musician. I often see really well made content that almost nobody watches and I cannot understand what this person does wrong compared to others who have views in the millions. I'm sure consistency, self-marketing, finding an unoccupied niche etc. all play a role. But perhaps there is still a "people watch what people watch" aspect to it for videos like we have "people listen to what people listen to" in music? Some luck factor that is hard to enforce even after all the groundwork is done right. That said, great to see that it works so well for you, well deserved, great, inspiring content!
This is really awesome; you just broke the bank. Many creators and TH-camrs would make a whole online course out of this content and sell it for $47, $97, or $457, inflating it with unnecessary details. Meanwhile, you stick to the point and create the most useful video for a beginning creator, which can be easily put up with gems like Jack Conte's "Pateron CEO gives bad advice". I wholeheartedly admire your sincerity, straightforwardness, and positive message, and you are just an overall excellent and good human being, and that's on top of your musicianship and educator capabilities. Thank you so much.
All very good advise, one thing that I have done on a couple of instructional videos that I have made for work is to write out a script. I am terrible at spontaneous speaking, so having thing written out help to keep the flow going, even if I don't end up reading it word for word, it has the path forward so I am not doing the Uhh... Ummm, etc. The other technique that I have noticed that seems to work well for people who have "made it" in TH-cam, is to perform the task and then come back and narrate over the top.
Congratulations on finding your way! Honestly, the very thought of creating social media content makes me sick, which is why I rarely do more than post about upcoming concerts. Maybe I'm getting old, but my successful way to maintain my career as a musician is to socialise in real life, be a good hang around fellow musicians, do favours, always respond quickly to requests and be reliable. Different rabbits, different habits... 🙂
I'm a young musician but this feels more natural to me. Posting on social media just feels wring, always has. Unfortunately, people of my age increasingly don't operate in this old school, organic fashion. Oh well, get up and try again I suppose.
@@philliplind360 Keep your dream alive and do what you feel is right to do. Consistency will win the long run. And be willing to ask for help. Accept that it is okay to not be perfect and that you're on a journey which everyone else also started not knowing sh*t about what and how to do. Follow your heart, trust your guts and choose friendship over money. That's what I learned. I know I still don't know...
I'm a photographer so not the original target audience. However, I relate to your approach in music, we just have different material, yours is the sound and mine is the light. I would like to add that the reason you were able to build an audience is not only because you're a skillful musician and educator but also because really early on your channel you developped your own style of youtube filmmaking (if it makes any sense) which is quite unique.
As a fellow classical pianist, I’m with you 100%. You almost have to carve your own path because the traditional conservative way is NOT for anyone. Thankfully the internet helps.
As a music teacher, this is the last video I'd show to a student. All those hours you spend around making a video you can read stuff, listen, talk to other musicians, because this is an infinite art which requires all efforts and time in life. Maybe in your musician life you will need other jobs in order to actually be a musician; but this is not an injustice, that's life, and is also good to learn. I'm glad you found your purpose by creating content, but I'm sure there are so many looking for other ways of success or joy. This comment is not for the creator, but for those who are lost and this video didn't solve a thing.
i think she made it pretty clear that she's only speaking about what worked for her. she explicitly said that this way of life, artistry, and motivation is not for everyone. i wouldn't do this personally as someone who isn't seeking a career in music, but i'm really grateful she does post content & personally benefit from it :)

What is busking??
Okay but your editing proficiency and general ideas on how to portray certain concepts visually is unparalleled
Those skills are built by doing, just like the music. You won't have those skills immediately, and neither did she.
@@scrub_jay ditto that! Editing longer-form content from other creators (streams, podcasts, interviews, shows, explainers) and putting your own editing spin & style on the final clip is a great way to start! Just make sure you point people to the source content and credit the original creator 😉

As a musician, educator and wannabe content creator, this video was of great help! Easy to follow, neat editing and simple enough tips to inspire you to get started! Thank you for sharing your process and workflow 🙏
It's soooo good to see another musician going through the same pains and saying AUDIO is primary for us! Thank you!!
Yes, I’ve been realising recently that I MUST invest in a better mic…
I LOVED this short when it came out. I immediately sat down in my studio and played my instrument for an hour (or more?). I didn't fully follow what you were doing, i got distracted by something else, as often happens, but your video was the trigger for an hour of creative fun.
Thanks for the tips and for constantly being an inspiration to this guitarist.
This is right up my alley, and I even learned something from the sponsonship. I'm gonna plug my Volt 476p into my phone!
Keeping it simple and fun is always a winner.
Again, thank you!
best way to start my Saturday, on my keys looking through your lessons
Thank you!
People like you are helping classical music to stay alive and relevant, so keep doing what you're doing! I wish you all the best! 🙂
I'm retired and not interested in becoming a professional musician, yet I find your hints and videos quite helpful as I strive to simply improve my musician abilities
Bless you❤
Plus a pleasant personality
I can´t believe that there are haters that attack even you. You seem like such a relaxed, nice, innocent and highly professional musician that does a lot to help other musicians. To much wicked people in this world!!!🙄😑
Thank you!! 🙏🏼
There are haters everywhere, some of them are probably your (and my) best friends.
It's appalling to think about it.

I love your videos. I think I saw them all. I loved the one you played the piano with your mother. I loved the way your eyes sparked when visiting the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg. Your compositions have a unique style, as your harmony understanding is very sophisticated.
The Schubert transformation was simply gorgeous! That alone was reason enough to watch. Thank you.
Your channel inspires! It’s a daily dose of musical pleasure, education and wisdom (beyond your years). You’re such a joyful talent with a poetic gift for verbal & visual communication. Your natural & inner beauty beams. We appreciate you sharing great videos like this with the largest possible audience. I concur with the most positive comments. Ignore the jealous haters, as the rest of us do. ❤ I also appreciate your “shorts”… the samples of original contemporary music along with your explanation & interpretation. You’re far ahead of the pack!
Using ideas and interests we already have and speaking impromptu and fixing it later.
That's a pretty liberating way of thinking about social media. Thanks
You also have a very pleasant voice.
I am thrilled that I found your video and shorts. This has really inspired me to take the plunge and figure this out for myself! Thank you for your encouragement and step by step explanation.
Thanks Nahre. I'm not sure if you realize how important this channel has been to a lot of people. You're doing something good here

You are literally giving everyone a shortcut to your excellent standard. Amazing stuff Nahre. I find this video so useful. Thank you so much.
Great video Nahre , thank you for these tips! I feel much more inspired ever since I started sharing my music and classical guitar knowledge. Many people didn't even know that you can study classical music on guitar and how that sounds like. Being able to have a platform and an audience to share your passion is really rewarding! Keep up the awesome work!🥰
Thank you. I was studying music and I found myself pursuing science . I felt kinda incapable when i left because i never achieved what i wanted in composition school. However, Nahre has been so generous to give great advices. Some of these advices are very practical, useful and powerful not only to musicians, but also someone chasing after a scientific career. You are doing great and thank you again for your amazing contents
The voice over post processing is the magic I would love insight into. The best voice over quality I have heard here on TH-cam in a long time.
Hi Nahre! I don't usually write comments this much on videos, but felt like I need to. I found this humble channel years ago, and as I still support your works until now, you truly got your specific niche in this field, and was successful establishing it to us, your audience. Thank you for this advice, and all that you do, Nahre. All the best!
Simple truths. Things I already know but needed the reinforcement. Thank you, I really appreciate your approach

I watch this channel all the time even though I’m a guitar player ,
This lady apart from great piano skills is just naturally interesting and she is humble and honest,
But she also doesn’t ramble on , not a second is wasted on useless info , she really has mastered video creation, it also helps a lot that the camera likes her , being pretty never hurts ,
You’re real Nahre !!! You are not a fake one … You show us what really happened behind the scenes… Thank you for your honesty ♥️🙂✌️🎩
I just want to most graciously thank you. Doing this was very courteous of your fellow struggling musicians. This act is a selfless kne.
I was super excited to see your video pop up in my suggestions. Always learn from your insights and appreciate your voice in the music community!
What a great video and a reminder of those actionable habits that make a big impact over time!
Whoa! Neat to see that audio setup. Audio has been SO tricky for me!
Yes, efficiency and artistry are often in conflict with each other! :)
great video as always! i do think it is important to do make posts about something you truly are interested in, because it shows in the final product!
It's sort of what Gary Vee (and others) have been saying all along: consistently document your journey and gradually, (with consistency and time) like-minded people will become drawn to it.
I am no professional, but always finding your clips genuine, light-hearted, helpful and with lots of fun and practical insights. Thanks. 💞💞
That is their loss, though, and if they don't like it they should just go somewhere else :)
Ugh, as a pianist and after watching Nahre play her arpeggios so well, I think I'm gonna spend some time on them again... XD
To me it's called cheating.
yoo efooty?
Yeah it's so frustrating sometimes,
I found a youtuber recently who makes amazing video essays but only has 5 subscribers...
and sincerity to the craft. your craft. because you've got HEAPS OF IT.
Your mind is so perfect and beautiful in every way. Obviously an old soul. Thank you for sharing your life experience, and inspiration.

This was such a needed boost in the arm for me to get back into recording and editing! What a helpful and inspiring 11-odd minutes, Nahre! Thank you!
As a fellow classical pianist, I’m with you 100%. You almost have to carve your own path because the traditional conservative way is NOT for anyone. Thankfully the internet helps.
Great video!
I think you simply became a TH-camr.
Nice short true
You're such an inspriation Nahre. I love the way you see things, you're very articulate, and you're a fantastic musician!! Brava :)
Hello Nahre. I just watched your 3 tiny habits video and then this came up on my feed. Fantastic advice!! Thank you so much for sharing how you make your videos. This is what is so great about TH-cam, you can learn just about anything from anyone. And that is a very empowering idea. Thank you again. Cheers!
The simple habit? Clickbait.
Love this, thank you! I always get turned off by the algorithmic approach to content where it’s purely about making what people are clicking on. I much prefer the way you talk about sharing what you’re interested in
Step 1: Be Pretty.
Hmmm…don’t you listen to music w your eyes closed. Saying this as lifelong professional musician. It is better w eyes closed
I laughed way too hard now I can get back to crying a bit less today
Needed to hear this today. Our dream is to find an audience for our music, but we struggle with the fact that almost nobody in our community has actually successfully achieved this yet.

@@userAAit can absolutely pay for that, and far more. she averages 100-200k views every video (with some getting much more) and posts often. her cpm would be quite high for this type of channel, so that’s easily $1-2k per 100 thousand views (she has 42 million). not to mention, she has a sponsorship on pretty much every video, and I haven’t even mentioned other social media platforms.

Super helpful! I've been at this for 3 years and many of the things I wondered about (recording equipment, editing process, posting schedule, etc) you covered in a super helpful and straightforward way. Love your videos!
I think my first introduction to you was the "Warm up exercises that are fun to play". Consistency is definitely KEY! Its been great to follow your journey these past 5 years. I remember stumbling upon your piano practice videos during my time in uni.
Thank you for this. I needed it so much. I have a studio in Mississippi called The Song Kitchen that's a few months old that specializes in music lessons and recording music. I perform as a one-man-band on weekends and record client's music from top to bottom. I have taken a very long break from posting consistent content. After watching, I think creating regular posts may enhance the quality of my reputation in all my musical jobs so I can grow in the direction I want to go in, have more freedom, and have more time to do what I love most. (After a few months of hard work that is... 🙂)
Just starting out my project and came across this video. Extremely helpful! Every bit of it has struck a chord with me. Amazing work!
