Bangkok Pat drops another banger. While it's difficult to ruin a shot of any Bangkok backdrop, he manages to capture & curate each frame meticulously -- with historical imagery alongside splashes of colour & modern mahem. IMO this video takes you back in time while offering a beautiful contrast of an optimistic future in this beloved city 😺
My twin brother and I were born in Bangkok and have moved to the states when we were around 11 years old. Now we are planning to retire in Thailand and have been watching your videos religiously... So grateful for your video and more than happy to sign up for your membership
Pat. I've been living in Tha Din Daeng for 40 years and explored a lot of this historic neighbourhood, but you managed to find some real gems and interesting historic details I never knew. Excellent research and video!
@@Molloy1951 Hi. Not as much as Sukhumvit. Mostly the big changes are beside the river where hotels and condos have sprung up. But crossing over to the Thonburi side from main Bangkok still feels like going back in time a few decades!
If you look at regular travel vloggers Bangkok is just a bunch of malls, some markets and some tourist stuff and a chinatown. Everyone on youtube films the same things over and over. We who live in and love Krungthep love the history, all the streets no vlogger ever visits and all the hidden history and secrets
Majority of people not just TH-camrs stick to the standard formula tried and test, they rarely if ever go off the beaten path, no risk required. Love your style Pat you go knee deep into the abyss, exploring the darkside of things so to speak where few ever dare venture for several reason, one being human nature which programs us to stay safe and be when we are comfortable, these people are not the trailblazers and inventors. Great Video
Fear of the unknown, it's a big step to stray out of the comfort zone of a 'proven' formula. For them the city of Bangkok is an overwhelming and big chaotic metrolpolis.....where do you start???
Whenever I'm away from Bangkok I really like to watch your videos. When we're back in Lat Prao I drive my Mrs mad wanting to follow your travels with trips out and about. Cheers Pat
I've lived in Khlong San for years and love it so was so impressed with your video - shared with family as really captured it well vibe and feel - love to do a walk with you if ever need company
Nice vid thanks Pat. BUT since when was the collective noun a ‘clutch’ of Tuk Tuks? My great-great-great parents always taught us it was a ‘Cheat’ of Tuk Tuks. Maybe they were wrong….
Again nice hidden places of Bangkok love it, I never walked in that area but I will do for sure when I'm in BKK again in a few month's. Great work again Pat!
I have been binge-watching your videos for several weeks now in preparation for my trip to Bangkok later this year, and a long walk in Khlong San was the first excursion I planned! Bangkok Pat is my favorite TH-cam channel, cheers from Sweden!
I did a Bangkok HHH run in 1994 over on that Island. We all ran from a small Wat into the gardens and suburbs. There were endless canals and lots of bougainvillea cultivation. A fantastic maze of unknown fields just opposite BKK. I got separated from the pack and eventually saw a distant temple! Ah, safe at last! NO! It wasn't the same temple I left my car at an hour or so earlier! No phone, no money and no idea where I was! Thankfully it worked out but a great experience! Thanks for the reminder Pat! Good vlog!
A fascinating slice of Thai life, cats, dogs and lizards, canals ,rivers and lots of history, thanks for posting Pat and looking forward to the next one. Regards to you and May, speaking of which, maybe it's time for another trip somewhere. Anyway cheers and stay safe :)
I checked out the 1919 spot last year on a recommendation from locals . Was interesting but very quiet like when you filmed so very interesting to see that picture of it packed full and busy.
Well Pat, we certainly didn't fall asleep during our walk, but definitely slept well that evening. Your time and research put into these areas shows in your videos. Always a pleasure watching.
Thanks Pat, I enjoyed this so much. You always seem to hit the right note with your incredible knowledge and tireless research throughout, along with (for me) a touch of nostalgia, and a longing to come back to Bangkok. Very professional film-making.
I lived in Thonburi 6 months a year long time ago, with a Thai family. (friends). I loved Every second of it. Many thanks for your videos, i love them. Best on TH-cam!
New subscriber here. Exactly the type of content I was hoping to find one day. Great information and narration. Recently returned from Bkk after over 10 years, what a difference. Keep up the good work and I’ll look up your walking tours on my return later this year!
Absolutely loved this walk and will be going over it many times in the next few days. Kept thinking back to our walking tour on the opposite side of the river. I was a bit sad to see some of the old buildings that were being demolished, I hope that this doesn't happen to too many others. Hopefully we will be back soon.
Totally fascinating Pat. So well researched and presented. Amazing that so close in to the centre of the modern Bangkok, are such historical old places such as the old Tha Din Daeng Port. Got to wonder what will happen to those places. I have an upcoming client who's family relates to that area (you mentioned their name in your film). Will be very interesting to meet them. A friend lives in the Supalai Premier Charoen Nakhon by the BTS Khlong San. I've forwarded your video to him.
Thanks Eddie, no harm in mentioning the video to your client if you get an informal moment. If it's who I think it is, one of them has commented here before to correct a couple of minor errors in timelines....
The map worked well at the beginning, might put a bug warning "pause for map" and count down 5,4,3,2,1. help to orientate. Your always the best and the first with history and production.
Thank you khun Pat, for outstanding tour of the other bank. I have a friend who live in one of the wooden shophouses there in a back lane. The cats are amazingly cute as always.

Wow, fantastic! How has it changed ever since you moved into that area?

The large warehouses by the river were called " godowns " and to Thais " kodung ".
_”Some very tasteful music for you.”_ …Indeed.
Very interesting !I find those quiet areas and back alleys fascinating. That black cat at the end was lovely
For a tall glass of iced tea.😊

I purposely try to go where they don't.......

As a fellow khlongaholic, it’s another great look into areas few visitors venture. mahalos & aloha 🤙🏾
I love the history you share.

Thanks Steve, much appreciated.
Thanks!❤ You do the walking for me
