Sathorn Road brought back memories for me. I got married to my Thai wife in the old Australian Embassy in 1988. Thank you for a other great video on the history of Bangkok.
Outstanding work. You continue to push the bar higher. Absolutely the best Bangkok YT channel for true lovers of the Kingdom🙏🙏 But please 😫 stop giving away our non tourist secrets🤣🤣🙏
So interesting to see the old village photos of neighborhoods before being transformed into skyscrapers. Thanks for the research and historical stories!
Pat's videos feels like a breath of fresh air and have such a calming effect so its almost as he could add the letters "ASMR" in the description text of each new release. Once again I am blown away by his meticulous research and ability to find sensible information about remarkable people, places and venues. And it make me once again miss the back alleys and lesser trodden street's of Bangkok.
Thanks again for the excellent coverage of the Sathorn road area. Back in the mid 80's, I was a student summer hire at JUSMAG Thai and was given the task of painting the interior of the building that runs along the wall on Sathorn road. The lower level had a large room with a blank wall. I asked the Navy chief I was working for if I could paint the Thai and U.S. flags on the blank wall. It took some time but looked pretty good for an amateur. I am sure it has long been painted over but that was a lot of fun and will always bring back a great memory when I go down Sathorn.
Love the appreciation of the BTS guiderails. I remember being on the train one day and reminded of the intro feedback of Hendrix’s guitar with almost that exact same sound :) guess the tracks needed a little oil. Used to live near Suan Phlu - brilliant stuff Pat!
Very exciting video of this Bangkok Wall Street. Great job Pat, thanks for showing us your city with all the in depth knowledge from days gone by until current day, which makes it so interesting. 👏🏻👍
Another excellent video! Thank you for all of the effort you put into your work. Also, it was great meeting you when I was in town a few weeks ago. My walking tour was one of the highlights of my trip.
Thanks for covering the M.R.Kukrit Pramoj home-museum, which is every bit as interesting as the Jim Thompson home-museum. The only difference it's not swarming with tourists and photograph-taking all around the house is welcome. And there are no guides to hustle you around. It's as underrated as Thompson is overrated.
Thanks for the stroll around the old neighbourhood Pat. My son used to live off Suan Phlu before moving off Silom Road. Have walked Convent Road many times and smalls remains my favourite bar in Bangkok.
I was living at the Sathorn District for over a year from 2022-2023, your video has just reminded me all these places especially the Suan Phlu area cause I often took the bus #62 and the BRT at Chong Nonsi to get home. Thanks for the great video again ! 👍
Pat, it's getting impossible to find enough superlatives to compliment you on these great and fascinating videos, and you must really spend a lot of time researching and preparing. Plus your relaxed style is probably the best amongst those who produce Bangkok videos. Looking forward to part 2.
Good video Pat. I could relate to mostly all of your narrative. Older expats all remember the Thai immigration office there before moving to Chang Wattana. It was the worse mad house ever😅!
Interesting video. One error, Babylon Sauna did not close in 2019. It closed on the 20 December 2020, I know because I was there, and one of the last to leave!
Nice one - I just did a big walk through Sathorn, Bang Rak and Chinatown this morning ... then back to Thonburi ... Also hit the wonderful old Hua Lomphong station that you've covered before ... Many memories hitting that station from Bangkok to Laos way back when ... Cheers, Steve @law_nomad
Thrilled. You have outdone yourself once again! Highly educational and an exciting piece of art in perfect production. Congratulations and many thanks again! PS: So the signature tune for Germany has been changed from the Valkyrie ride to the pow'r station style. 😉
Liked this one Pat it was very informative as usual like all of your vlogs. Regarding the Kings Hotel on Sathon south Road, I stayed there for a month in 1975 for the Princely sum of just £30 👍
What a great area so much change in the last 30-40 years is amazing. Love the drone footage and the time lapse video of the build being built 👏👏. Very interesting looking forward to part 2 nice one Pat
Wonderfully assembled from the visuals to the music, informative and engaging. So much more to your TH-cam channel than eye rolling food videos. Keep up the great presentations.
I lived in a budget apartment on the Sathon side of the 3-way border between Sathon, Yan Nawa & Khlong Toei.. was a 2 minute walk away from Mae Nam railway station. Seeing you at Suan Phlu park brought back memories. I used to walk there often, it was about a 10 minute walk away. Good times.
I know where that is, I was down that way last year, opposite those railway tracks are a couple of apartment buildings that seemed nice. You can walk the back way to Sri Bamphen. Yen Akat Road has some nice parts as well.
Bridge pilings are installed without draining rivers -- as you suggest for the ChongNongSi BTS. As you hint, I suspect they built an enclosure and pumped it out to drill in each post in the khlong. Thanks for another happy trip through local history.
Thanks Sean, it's not a very deep canal but they built the whole line from Chong Nonsit to the river over it so l am sure there are deeper sections and a few challenges, like avoiding the filthy water....
Sorry late reaction was a little busy with things. Great video Pat about Sathorn district a lot of history there I been their only a few time but never explore it good, but I will do it for sure next time. I been on the rooftop of Mahanakhon amazing view but that time I only had my mobile next I will take photo's with my Fuji X-H1 cam. Luckly I'm not afraid of walking on the class floor it really weird to look down and see every thing so small. I did also walk a little bit at the Sathon canal at Chong Nonsi Canal Park. Thx again Pat!
from constantly binging this channel's content, i know more about bangkok (a city i've never been) than i do about my own city, which i've lived my whole life 😭
The cats are gonna be pretty dark when they find out you put a dog shot in here Pat. What were you thinking? I hope you are kicking ass in Bangkok. Another glorious presentation. You should get indoors more.
Great video PAT, your research into these videos is commendable. I've done the skywalk at Mahanakhon tower, I thought I'd be terrified, but I wasn't at all phased.
Always love to watch your videos on the history of provinces, streets, areas of Bangkok, also your story-telling videos. Always waiting for your next video. Just noticed you mixed up the pictures of The Guardian Arts Center Beijing and The Interface Singapore (23:55 - 24:04)
Wow! Absolutely loved this! and all you vids! Made me become a member immediately. I'm back in BKK in October to live; last time I was in CM for 9 years. Love Bangkok! Cheers Matt
Yep, all three, interesting ,educational & exciting. Love the old photos. Amazing how quickly this part of Bangkok has changed in such a short time. As already mentioned, it appears to be exponential growth, the real dramatic growth in the last twenty years. Sad to see a certain way of life's demise but "progress" waits for no one . Thanks for posting.
Amazing video! Great work, thank you so much for sharing, been driving and walking down Sathorn Rd many times, but did not know about so many interesting, historical fact's. 😊👍🏻
Fascinating account of the area and prominent figures. I personally have to pause it frequently to read to take in everything. Could you slow down the labeled stills and sub titles a bit please ? Cheers
Best historical videos of Bangkok for sure.
Professional Quality every single time.
His video editing is really an inspiration.
Absolutely agree.
Sathorn Road brought back memories for me. I got married to my Thai wife in the old Australian Embassy in 1988.

No one does this kind of videos about Bangkok dating back to decades . Appreciate all you have done to make these precious videos possible….
Thank you very much for the kind words!
Really enjoyed this. Looking forward to part two.
I fell down on my knees and prayed when our guy Pat finally took a deep look into Sathorn District. I have purpose of life now!
So interesting to see the old village photos of neighborhoods before being transformed into skyscrapers. Thanks for the research and historical stories!
Cheers Anton 😎🐱
Yes, those are great to see. I wish I could have started my BKK adventure 50-90 years earlier, but you get what you get.
Been visiting Thailand for 30 years, Sathorn is usually our base where we stay. Great video.
Fantastic video. Thank for your hard work.
Pat's videos feels like a breath of fresh air and have such a calming effect so its almost as he could add the letters "ASMR" in the description text of each new release. Loved going there for their BBQs. It was a bit of a step back in time even 35 years ago.
Hard to believe this area was all farmland and villages. Exponential growth, even in the 20 years since I first lived there.
A tremendous programme, as usual. Your script with it's wry humour is the icing on the cake.
Cheers Carl🐱
I juat want to say THANK YOU, really enjoy your videos, I have been to Bangkok 3 times and cant wait to go back really really like this city!
I think it's incredible that less than a century ago there were villages and orchids in this area. Amazing Thailand.
Love the appreciation of the BTS guiderails. I remember being on the train one day and reminded of the intro feedback of Hendrix’s guitar with almost that exact same sound :) guess the tracks needed a little oil. Used to live near Suan Phlu - brilliant stuff Pat!
Soft Cell singer Marc Almond stays at the Lebua Tower hotel every time he visits Bangkok.
Very exciting video of this Bangkok Wall Street. Great job Pat, thanks for showing us your city with all the in depth knowledge from days gone by until current day, which makes it so interesting. 👏🏻👍
They call it that, but the Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) is near Sukhumvit & Asok, not in Sathon.
Wow, I love that you included photos from history that are rare and never seen before.
Wow what a great video. Well researched, well edited and thoroughly entertaining. Awesome job Pat!
Lived in Siri Sathorn for 8 months. Nice area.
Amazing content again Pat,,, loved the history on Kukrit.... you have a history lesson for the public soon,,, is there still openings?
Excellent as always and nice to see you back.
Thank you for the useful information, Mr. Alain Delon
Pat, another great vid.
Another excellent video! Thank you for all of the effort you put into your work. Also, it was great meeting you when I was in town a few weeks ago. My walking tour was one of the highlights of my trip.

Thank you for another great video. I really enjoyed it.🙏
Another great video on our amazing city of angels. Thank you, Pat 🙏🏽

Sadly it has been closed for the last 2-3yrs. I think his achievements outweigh Jim Thompsons!
Simply the best….
Great video - upvoted
Thank you once again Pat for another great video and history of the area. 👍🙏🙏🙏
Thanks for the stroll around the old neighbourhood Pat. My son used to live off Suan Phlu before moving off Silom Road. Have walked Convent Road many times and smalls remains my favourite bar in Bangkok.

Great video
Will have to try trok silom.
Another interesting and well done video! Thank you!
Every trip, I spent at least one evening at the top of The Banyan Tree, and sipped drinks while overlooking the city.
Good timing on this one, I am arriving for a 3 month visit next week and my condo is in Sathorn, first time staying in this area.
Thanks Pat. Just wrapping up a 2 week stay in Sathorn, lots of places I’ve walked by but plenty of layers of detail from you 👍🏻
Just a thought …great work but maybe you could slow it down to explain more of the history…. This is good stuff for people living here. Thanks
Really enjoyed it thanks looking forward to part ii
Thanks Pat.
I always thought the Aussie embassy was down in the pub....
Interesting video. One error, Babylon Sauna did not close in 2019. It closed on the 20 December 2020, I know because I was there, and one of the last to leave!

Excellent and insightful video Pat. Makes me feel like heading down to Sathorn next visit and finding these areas that I know little about
I used to live in the neighbourhood. Brings back some good memories.
I appreciate the time you took to find historic photos .Great video.

@@BangkokPat Excited to see it ! Have a lovely evening Pat
This is near where I stayed when I was in BKK Pat. (Bang Rak). I really enjoyed this video! Thanks mate 👍👍
Great vlog, thanks Pat. Really interesting!
The best story.telling for bangkokian. Well.done Pat
It was lovely
You never fail to provide excellent video and history of Bangkok. As Tina Turner would say you are simply the best. Thank you.
Wonderfully assembled from the visuals to the music, informative and engaging. So much more to your TH-cam channel than eye rolling food videos. Keep up the great presentations.
A wonderful, well done, educational, and interesting vlog as always. Thanks.
Thanks Pat, another fascinating video. Watching your sped up footage of Bangkok traffic is slightly nerve wracking though.
Don't cross the road when l speed up the clips!!
