- Across the river from Talat Noi & Chinatown is an unexplored world, lovely streets, friendly locals and see some real Bangkok life! A real place where tourists don't go to, with best street food market nobody knows about. Walk the back sois, alleys, see the old srchitecture, hidden parks, museums and learn some interesting history too. Forget those TH-cam videos claiming that they go to ''Where tourists never go" because this area is exactly one of those places "Where TH-camrs never go"

cheers. There's some great locations for some creative photography....
Bangkok Pat drops another banger. While it's difficult to ruin a shot of any Bangkok backdrop, he manages to capture & curate each frame meticulously -- with historical imagery alongside splashes of colour & modern mahem. IMO this video takes you back in time while offering a beautiful contrast of an optimistic future in this beloved city 😺
My twin brother and I were born in Bangkok and have moved to the states when we were around 11 years old. Now we are planning to retire in Thailand and have been watching your videos religiously...
So grateful for your video and more than happy to sign up for your membership
Must admit everytime I miss Bangkok, I’ll look out for your video 😢
same here same here!
me too
Pat, you never fail to impress with the most fascinating information about hidden Bangkok. Thank you.
If you look at regular travel vloggers Bangkok is just a bunch of malls, some markets and some tourist stuff and a chinatown.
Everyone on youtube films the same things over and over.
We who live in and love Krungthep love the history, all the streets no vlogger ever visits and all the hidden history and secrets
Shallow as hell TH-camrs with no brains to think of expanding their material
I purposely try to go where they don't.......
@@BangkokPat keep doing it..after 10 years In krungthep i feel like i hardly scratched the surface sometimes🙏
@@peeemm1174 standard travel vloggers : "we found the secret market called "Chatuchak Market " no one knows about"..hahaha😂
You wrong Bro..... majority of expats want Bargirls..
I don't see many expats Scouring places no one wants to be..😂😂😂
Good Morning Vietnam (1987) was partly filmed directly across the river, in narrow alleys on the Thonburi side -- and also in Chiangmai. The female star was a Thai dressed in an Aow Dzai. Vietnam was considered too undeveloped to accommodate Hollywood in 1986. 'The Lover' was the first post-reunification (1975) film to be shot in Vietnam (1991).
I was an extra in many of the Phuket shots. Met Robin Williams, fantastic guy!
Yeah I remember them closing the road for a week in 1987. Mucked up my daily commute!
Pat. I've been living in Tha Din Daeng for 40 years and explored a lot of this historic neighbourhood, but you managed to find some real gems and interesting historic details I never knew. Excellent research and video!
Very interesting !I find those quiet areas and back alleys fascinating. That black cat at the end was lovely
As a fellow khlongaholic, it’s another great look into areas few visitors venture. mahalos & aloha 🤙🏾
Yet another gem. Great job.
Hi Pat, you know so much history of places in Bangkok. What a nice walk. Thanks!
I love the history you share.
Pat, your videos are works of art.
Another Masterpiece with so nice pictures and so many infos!!! Thank you very much!!! Looking forward to the next episode!!!
Hi Pat, great content! Thanks for your videos. And, thanks for letting Steve Rosse know that he's a koont 😂You're spot on!
Watching your videos is so relaxing and soothing.
Hi Pat, I really enjoy your cinema photography, you even make an old Bangkok slum look inviting! ⭐⭐
Best part of Bangkok...please keep it a secret 😀
Congrats on the forty k milestone Pat well done🎉
That was cool (on a hot day)! Next time I visit, I'll do that walk with you!
Yes, there should be more riverside paths.....
Thank you! I very much enjoyed the historical aspects of the walking tour. Well done.
One of your best Pat 👍😎
Thank You !!! ILove it !! Loretta and Jeremy Canada Had a great time with your tour .
Seeing the banyan Tree brings back memories of the Vertical Marathon in their stair well. wonder of they still do it... keep up the great work.
Thanks Pat another great video.
Good one...still in Pattaya feeding Cats...considering the Traffic...Crowds...Noise....i tell people...Bangkok is better and certainly no worse...Thai people in Bangkok...actually were born and raised there...when Covid hit...everyone deserted Pattaya and went HOME...i finally undeestand the Bangkok Expat thing. .in Pattaya...the Farang are Everywhere...and the OLD MAN thing is overwhelming in numbers...i tell Bar Ladies...NO MOR MAN in EUROPE...only Ladies and Children now.. All Men in Thailand....and so it seems...poor Pattaya...it was a Beach town at one time....not much here for Videos
I have been binge-watching your videos for several weeks now in preparation for my trip to Bangkok later this year, and a long walk in Khlong San was the first excursion I planned! Bangkok Pat is my favorite TH-cam channel, cheers from Sweden!
watching this video was further confirmation that I have chosen the right guide for my next stay in Bangkok.
See you soon
Very interesting, thanks for sharing Pat. Great production on the video.
I have been visiting the Thonburi side of BKK for the last 30 years. Definitely a more ชาวบ้าน vibe
Awesome river walk along Khlong San….the history ~ of royalty, commerce …and the gods ~ is mesmerising,…Much Thanks!😊

Thank you so much for the kind words!
Added this walk to my BKK must see notes. Will look you up for this walking tour November'ish. Thanks for the video Pat!
Nice vid thanks Pat. BUT since when was the collective noun a ‘clutch’ of Tuk Tuks? My great-great-great parents always taught us it was a ‘Cheat’ of Tuk Tuks. Maybe they were wrong….
Always a pleasurable, informative watch🤙
EXCELLENT idea :) more river walks please
Majority of people not just TH-camrs stick to the standard formula tried and test, they rarely if ever go off the beaten path, no risk required.
Love your style Pat you go knee deep into the abyss, exploring the darkside of things so to speak where few ever dare venture for several reason, one being human nature which programs us to stay safe and be when we are comfortable, these people are not the trailblazers and inventors.
Great Video
Fear of the unknown, it's a big step to stray out of the comfort zone of a 'proven' formula. For them the city of Bangkok is an overwhelming and big chaotic metrolpolis.....where do you start???
Wow Pat; some of those shots you did were immaculately framed! Beautiful!!!
The Thai government should give you a pension. You are a gem! Thank you for great content! I hope to join you for a walk someday!
Whenever I'm away from Bangkok I really like to watch your videos. When we're back in Lat Prao I drive my Mrs mad wanting to follow your travels with trips out and about. Cheers Pat
But from an act of fate (Mt. Pinatubo), I would have been living and working out of Bangkok instead of the Philippines. Love your informative, and often nostalgic videos.
Wow, amazing story telling.
I miss Bangkok. It’s a beautiful and unique city, not too modern and not too old, just right.
Lovely video, Pat. Thank you.
I must have been near this area with you on one of your Tours, we rode the Gold Line as i remember..... and that was a year ago now!
Thanks!❤ You do the walking for me
Almost 40,000 subscribers! Like
Thank you. This was a very good one.
A fascinating slice of Thai life, cats, dogs and lizards, canals ,rivers and lots of history, thanks for posting Pat and looking forward to the next one. Regards to you and May, speaking of which, maybe it's time for another trip somewhere. Anyway cheers and stay safe :)
I've lived in Khlong San for years and love it so was so impressed with your video - shared with family as really captured it well vibe and feel - love to do a walk with you if ever need company
The map worked well at the beginning, might put a bug warning "pause for map" and count down 5,4,3,2,1. help to orientate. Your always the best and the first with history and production.
I love your videos- so much info. Thanks
Your vlogs are a treat every time Pat. You really do add meaning to the saying "who knows what's around the corner." Thank you. 🙏
Watching this now!! Love your videos, great knowledge and style. Would be keen to meet up and do a tour with you when we arrive in August.
Fantastic Vlog Pat. Thank you. A lot of interesting Soi and river shots.
Classy video. I really like that you show yourself very little and when you do it is to give interesting information about things you are showing in the video. You are very knowledgeable.
I did a Bangkok HHH run in 1994 over on that Island. We all ran from a small Wat into the gardens and suburbs. There were endless canals and lots of bougainvillea cultivation. A fantastic maze of unknown fields just opposite BKK. I got separated from the pack and eventually saw a distant temple! Ah, safe at last! NO! It wasn't the same temple I left my car at an hour or so earlier! No phone, no money and no idea where I was! Thankfully it worked out but a great experience! Thanks for the reminder Pat! Good vlog!
wow...that is the place I want to live....
Great video Pat, always wondered why there’s a street there called Chiang Mai Road
Again nice hidden places of Bangkok love it, I never walked in that area but I will do for sure when I'm in BKK again in a few month's. Great work again Pat!
Absolutely loved this walk and will be going over it many times in the next few days. Kept thinking back to our walking tour on the opposite side of the river. I was a bit sad to see some of the old buildings that were being demolished, I hope that this doesn't happen to too many others. Hopefully we will be back soon.
Thanks Pat, I enjoyed this so much. You always seem to hit the right note with your incredible knowledge and tireless research throughout, along with (for me) a touch of nostalgia, and a longing to come back to Bangkok. Very professional film-making.
As always a great job. You are outstanding .
Another excellent video and what a wonderful walking tour that would be. Looking forward to seeing part of the city on one of your tours in May.
Totally fascinating Pat. So well researched and presented. Amazing that so close in to the centre of the modern Bangkok, are such historical old places such as the old Tha Din Daeng Port. Got to wonder what will happen to those places.
I have an upcoming client who's family relates to that area (you mentioned their name in your film). Will be very interesting to meet them.
A friend lives in the Supalai Premier Charoen Nakhon by the BTS Khlong San. I've forwarded your video to him.
Thanks Eddie, no harm in mentioning the video to your client if you get an informal moment. If it's who I think it is, one of them has commented here before to correct a couple of minor errors in timelines....
Pat, always a pleasure to watch your videos of Bangkok and Thailand in general. Keep up the good work my friend, and thank you!
New subscriber here. Exactly the type of content I was hoping to find one day. Great information and narration. Recently returned from Bkk after over 10 years, what a difference. Keep up the good work and I’ll look up your walking tours on my return later this year!
Thank you and really glad you've discovered the channel. Plenty of videos for you to catch up on!!!
Thank you Pat.. A great video and I truly enjoyed watching it! 🙏🙏🦘🦘
EXCELLENT
Great video!! So nice to see a Bangkok video presented by someone that actually knows something about the area. So much better than those breathless couples bopping into town for a couple of days and providing vapid videos on the same things that have been done a hundred times before by other couples all looking to get someone else to pay for their world tour. Was that too much shade? Oh well.
You're absolutely right Mike! 🐱🐱
You’re taking these films even higher Pat……..congratulations
Fantastic good video bangkok pat
bloody brilliant - thanks Pat!
I checked out the 1919 spot last year on a recommendation from locals . Was interesting but very quiet like when you filmed so very interesting to see that picture of it packed full and busy.
As always so educational to watch. The neighborhoods in Bangkok are endless and the history behind them make a walking tour so enjoyable, whether being there in person or watching a video.
love the jazz!
Well Pat, we certainly didn't fall asleep during our walk, but definitely slept well that evening. Your time and research put into these areas shows in your videos. Always a pleasure watching.
Glad to hear that, and you both got a 'premiere' of sorts!
Wow great 😊
I lived in Thonburi 6 months a year
long time ago, with a Thai family. (friends). I loved Every second of it. Many thanks for your videos, i love them. Best on TH-cam!
Thanks a lot Anders!
EVENING PAT :} we're on that side of the river and recognised a good few of them places. the ferry is well handy and still inexpensive .
Great video Pat,, wow its hot
Another great piece of work, you are a true ambasador for the city. 👍😎
@9:30 There are two words in Thai that are pronounced exactly the same, but have different spellings and different meanings. "Nahk" spelled นาก means an allow of gold and copper, sometimes called "red gold".
The name of the soi is spelled นาค in Thai. That "nahk" is the mythical serpent. In the past it was a fairly common name (think Mae Nahk Prakanong).
I couldn't find a definitive answer, but I would guess that the soi was named after a particular artisan named Nahk (sometimes spelled "Nak").
He must have been an artisan of particular renown.
Congrats on another great video, Pat. You've really come a long way.
Well produced videos. Great job catching the atmosphere of what it's like in Bangkok and the background research you do is very interesting. 5/5
Great work
Thank you khun Pat, for outstanding tour of the other bank. I have a friend who live in one of the wooden shophouses there in a back lane. The cats are amazingly cute as always.
Pat always awesome historical videos! I really enjoy them.
bravo. this was a thoroughly enjoyable stroll following the water.
Thanks again !!
Wasn't Soi Chang Nak where they filmed James Bond (Pierce Brosnan) with Michelle Yeoh fleeing on a motorcycle from the helicopter in Tomorrow Never Dies? That gateway looks rather familiar!
Pat you absolutely the best making the best video of the gens of old Bangkok. I do love loved so much. I’ve never seen or been of these places. You certainly showed me the beauty and old places of Bangkok. Thankyou soo very much ❤️❤️❤️
This was right up my Alley 👍, best one so far if not counting the train stuff😃
Excellent 👌 Thank you Bangkok Pat … more like this please if you have the time …
Very nice and informative video.
Grazie.
Thanks Steve, much appreciated.
Good content. Thank you for an intimate look. Stay safe
Thank you Pat enjoyed that one just so much. I used to do similar walks when younger in Bangkok but never knew the history of the areas as much as you.
This is what makes your vids so interesting.
At the end of this vid you show and old photo of the building where River City is now The Hong Kong and Shanghai bank I think and this was an area I knew so well as my apt was nearby in Soi Budda Osot, then River City and Royal Orchid came along and much was lost.
I used to rake tourists to have theirv photo taken outside the shop with Fanny Showroom on, read the book Fanny and the Regent of Siam you enjoy history.
Thanks Pat keep em coming.
Phill
Pat, Thanks for this Very Interesting Tour with your Clearly Comment, as always. 🙏
Bedankt
Thanks Alex!
Love your information about Bangkok!!
Really loving these videos
