    Sassja, I'm glad you reacted to their official music video, featuring the Maids as anime characters. There were so many Band-Maid fans that a full anime series should have been done. Of course, the Maids have been commissioned to do the entres and outres of several anime series. They all love animes themselves, so this video was a natural.

      They definitely should make a series! I'd like to see how it's all connected haha 😍

    Fun Sassja! Each of the animation scenes at the start feature a Maid in a setting from one of their other videos! Now you can look forward to recognising those too!

    5:18 A couple of things. Yes, the various instruments in this part are using different tempos, some quickly and some more slowly. Also, i believe the "strings" are a "harpsichord," a precursor to the piano that used a keyboard but the strings were plucked instead of hammered as with a piano. Although it is most likely not an actual harpsichord, but instead a synth harpsichord.

    The layering of different sounds and timings is by the genius that is Kanami (Lead Guitar) and is similar to an orchestra where different sections play different parts that come together as a complete piece. Lovely reaction- Thanks.

      It's called Counterpoint or Contrapuntal when you have two or more musical lines (or voices) simultaneously played which are harmonically correlated yet independent in rhythm and melodic contour. It's common in classical music and jazz and Kanami often composes that way, shows her classical and jazz influences and training.

    Band-Maid of late has this certain phenomenon thing going regarding their more progy-punk hard rock and Anime written tunes. These songs are hard, complex and will totally grow on you like a thousand pound R&R leech. The Maids in this format are relentless and powerful. Their “AniMaid” (anime) Covid-fighting "Unleash!!!!!" MV and new battle gear is exciting, meaningful and classy! As Maidiacs report: Maid Music will continue to dominate the world until everyone succumbs in ecstasy to its brilliant and undeniable forces!!!!! 💥🎀💥 Thx, Sassja!

    Welcome Home Princess Sassja! I hope you are having a wonderful day. It is great to see you reacting to another Band Maid video. This particular video has a lot of "Easter Eggs" in it, such as the scenes in the beginning where each band member is trapped on the set of a different video, then Miku turning into a pigeon. Wave Potter has a very detailed breakdown of the music video on his TH-cam channel, if you are interested in learning more about the meaning of the video. Please take care and I hope you have an amazing week.

    "Am I weird?" Yes, absolutely! Keep it up! What you heard there is an intentionally off-key guitar part. This is rarely used in composition, and hard to use without it sounding absolutely terrible. But Kanami is one of the few composers you can trust to make it work. 😃
    The odd timing sounds that you noted is called syncopation, and that's a great call out noticing that. You rock, Sassja!

    Counterpoint or also syncopated rhythm. Melodies out of beat but when put together melds into a perfect song.....that's Bandmaid and the genius of Kanami's mind

    Time to meet the ladies!
    Miku Kobato "Little Pigeon" - band founder - rhythm guitar and second vocals. Main lyricist. Claims to be an 810 year old pigeon and makes pigeon noises when she speaks. Po! Very good at poker, really into horses and horse racing. Very clumsy, may fall into ditches. Has the energy of an average nuclear power station mixed with weapons grade cuteness. A comedian onstage - literally! She is the heart and soul of the band.
    Saiki Atsumi "The Ice Queen" - Lead vocalist and frontwoman. The youngest member at 30. Into train spotting and collecting trainers (sports shoes). Very girly, into doing her nails and is a fashion icon. Really into Baseball and the Hanshin Tigers. Don't mess with her you will lose. But she has a heart of gold and a killer dry sense of humour. Recently started writing lyrics. Has final say on songs.
    Kanami Tono - "Kanamincho" but usually just "Mincho" for short. Lead guitar and an absolute genius songwriter. Total riff machine. Has two personas. Normally a tiny cute shy very polite lady who seems very innocent (the band have to explain dirty jokes to her). Until she puts on her guitar. As the band say: "then she gets quite violent" - she turns into the shredding rock star she is. Takes guitar off, back to the little girl. Likes cakes, coffee and is totally infatuated by Saiki. She adores Saiki very much, to everyone's amusement.
    Akane Hirose - "The Gorilla" on Drums. Seems to be the sane member of the band, but is actually the band clown. Has an enormous appetite, seen eating in a lot of MV's. Eats a lot of bananas including on stage, hence the nickname. But she is terrible at actual cooking. Usually has a big grin on her face while drumming manically, Akane was also a DJ (under the name DJ Achi) and likes dancing and goofing with MISA. She also plays trombone!
    MISA (all caps, no last name) "The Barefoot Assassin" on bass. An absolute bass prodigy, MISA is very shy onstage (and a total clown offstage with Akane). Nickname comes from the fact she plays barefoot and looks like an assassin. Because of shyness often drinks onstage, you can often spot a bottle of Jim Beam on her amp. She drinks it neat. Lately drinking more beer than whiskey though, good girl. Doesn't say much, but when she does it's usually totally hilarious! At a lot of concerts you will hear the fans chanting MISA! MISA! MISA! which has become a slogan.
    Take your pick for number 4:
    I copied this from @MusicMike747
    Harder: “Rinne”
    Harder instrumental: “From Now On”
    Same: “Warning!
    Different: “DICE”
    Solo Fest: “Domination”
    Arena Rock: “Freedom”
    Funk Rock: “Manners”
    Progressive: “Onset”

    Slow Jam: “About Us”

    A music vocabulary term I like is “contrapuntal.” It’s basically just the adjective indicating the use of melodic counterpoint, but it sounds nice and fancy!

    You forgot a could of exclamation points. There are five of them, one for each member of the band. And the musical term you are looking for is called counterpoint. I believe that keyboard was a Harpsichord. And the Darkness they got rid of was COVID, saving the world with the Rock.

    Not sure which term you were going for, but if you mean two notes that normally don't sound good together are played, the term is dissonance. There are ways to make dissonance a good thing though, so that's one thing. Another thing they do however, is to play "counter melodies" simultaneously that are usually based in the same chord structure. But I'm not sure which, if either you mean. Anyway - yay Band-Maid! My fave band for over five years! More please.

    • @sassjastans
      @sassjastans  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Is that the same as syncopation/counterpoint?? That's what the others shared. But yes, two notes/melodies(?) that you think wouldn't sound good together but does 😍😍

    • @Kevin6059
      @Kevin6059 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@sassjastans No, dissonance simply means that if you play a white key on a piano at the same time as the black key right next to it, it clashes. Counterpoint refers to two different melodic lines are played simultaneously and it still works. Rennaissance music had a lot of this. Gentle Giant made this part and parcel of their music if you want a super cool "modern" version of it. Syncopation is something different yet, and it means accenting beats that are not normally accented, like the half step between beats 1 & 2 or 3 and 4, etc. (often the space between when your foot wants to tap.) Hope this helps. Band-Maid does a lot of cool syncopation - even early on, as they did in their song Yolo - you should check out the MV for that!.
