Thanks for riding my beast Shawn, thanks again to Mark Peroni for the amazingly hard work over the many years it has taken to get to this point. I just wish I had Shawn’s stamina to hit those whoops and palmetto roots that way. Congratulations Shawn and Mark on being the first winner’s of a Hare Scrambles race on an electric dirt bike. I look forward to many more.
Awesome job guys! That battery swap was incredible, and the advantage of not carrying more battery is offset by the light weight. True ingenuity and entrepenurial spirit here! Several years back a rider finished a Torcs scramble on an Alta, not sure if he won, there is a video somewhere.
Mark is a genius and awesome creator and awesome gentleman!!! I can't wait for kits to be available!!! Awesome riding Shawn!!! This thing sounds like a powerwheels from hell 🤣🤣

Hi, and congratulations on the field test. I was wondering if the battery swap after roughly 16 minutes was preemptive or was there an actual loss of power?
@@reineherrera8897 preemptive. He could have gone two laps but might have had some loss of full power. So to eliminate that potential we opted to change on each lap.
I use to hang out/ride a bit with Mark and Glenn when I lived in FL. Right when I moved out of FL Mark was working on that bike the other Yamaha. Nice too see it come this far, Mark is definitely wicked smart.
Shawn, how long was a lap? did you have to change the battery each lap? I'm old and slow and just trying to determine if I can get a 22-24 mile ride from a charge one a single battery. I'm not racing, just riding. I have a KTM 300XC-W and the most gas I ever use is about 1.5 gal. if that helps to compare. Thanks.
You probably couldn't make it that far. At my pace I have only made it about 14 miles. At a little more leisurely pace you can get a little longer but 20 miles would be pushing it. Yes we changed the battery every lap. But it only takes about 10 seconds to change battery. There is a nice view of that about halfway through the video and at the very end.
I think I was about a minute a lap faster than others in Sportsman A. Right now my gas bike is a touch faster but it won't take long until this bike completely surpasses it.
The builder should submit this to a major dirt bike publication. Silly question but do you know if they already have patents established and/or protection of IP? Dual handbrakes like a bicycle would completely change how you ride the thing too.
@@shawnclark56 he definitely should patent that. If the Stark does in fact take off, they’re going to need to pay him for that. Huge competitive advantage there.
How is the electric whine in person? Seems like it would be hard on the ears after 2 hours, unless it's the camera making it worse than it is. I for one am super excited for the electric development. I have no nostalgia for 2t or 4t. Give me an electric bike that can do 3 hours on one charge.
Camera makes the sound way worse than it is on the bike. The bike is super quiet. Battery technology is improving rapidly. I don't know about 3 hours but I would say in a year or two we will get an hour which is similar to gas bikes and the stops on this bike are really quick! Mark is a genius. But he is one guy working with no investors. The technology he has created is already comparable to gas bikes and it will only get better!
There is another potential change in the type of gears used that would make it very quiet. At the same time we will be adding a loud speaker to alert riders that Shawn is passing them. Since the AMA does not allow horns it make the sound of a 450 pinned. That should get their attention.
Glad you won. I'm sorry but I hate the sound from that bike. I guess I'm old school. Even if they are better in every way, I'm all about the sound and feel from internal combustion. Motorcycles and cars. Electric just doesn't appeal to me.
In a lot of ways, I share your sentiments, but the fact is electric is coming and it truly is a superior powerplant. In the near future electric will allow us all to go faster and open up more riding areas.
The bigger problem is the Grid, I work for a utility and can say we are not ready for mass amounts of EV’s. In the 50’s when Air conditioning showed up there were rolling and full blackouts for years due to over subscription of electricity. Today a single 230Kv transformer can cost up to almost $4M, and they take two years to get one. It’s going to take 30-40 years and billions or trillions of dollars to upgrade our grid to sustain this growth. But we have to start somewhere and this is good but currently not sustainable. Two things not the bike, its awesome, but a HS is one thing, an off road trip in the desert is another. Very cool though. Nice ride also!
@@obgod3 Agreed on the grid. I'm a big fan of electric bikes for recreation and see it as a superior powerplant. I'm not a fan of electric cars where we will be beholden to the single supplier of electricity. Exciting but scary times we live in.
Im all for new tech, the sound of the bike is a little weird for me but very cool at the same time. Can these be ridden through water, not trying to be funny, Im curious?
@@obgod3 A properly mad electric bike will be more capable of water contact than a gas bike. I ve seen a few videos of the ktm freeride being completly submerged while on, left under, then picked up and ridden out. Thats something no gas bike could ever dream of haha but not sure about this bike in particular but it really is an amazing accomplishment.

Super impressive. The quick change battery is perfect for scrambles.

Awesome Bike and Ride! Biggest add on accessory I think you need is a Horn!
Shawn you make it look way to easy. I hope we can get you back on it again real soon. Thanks for the great video.

Hey Lance thanks for the compliment. We miss riding with you. We will ride some trail again one day.👍
Dude! I think you’d be a beast on a tricycle!!!! Nice ride! Hope to see the bike at the FL GNCC!! 👍
Best dirt bike video on the internet at the moment as far as I'm concerned. Can't wait for my stark.
Sadly no quick battery swap options
If you get a XEMX1 you will be waiting on the Stark to keep up or finish
When I was 6 years old, I had one of these but back then they were called PowerWheels and were completely made of plastic.
Awesome. Love those battery pit stops!
That’s really a sweet bike . Ya he is genius. That’s a great concept to just switch batteries out.

What were your lap times compared to others in your class? Also were you faster on this compared to a gas bike due to instant torque?

nice race! which race is this? what class are you in?

He is working on a rear hand brake that will charge the battery under braking. Not sure on patents. I'm just the rider.
The amount of development for what seems like is coming out of a garage (and I mean that as a compliment) is impressive.
