Hi, great video once again, you found yourself a little goldmine of elvis stuff, its very difficult here to find a second hand record store, you seem to have more choice, thanks for showing us, love your little ‘HOUND DOG’,
Nice stuff. I love collecting those terrific picture sleeves. Elvis is still making people happy after all these years. We will never see his kind again. Thanks for sharing you’re finds.
Hey Jeff. I agree with you. Seeing and picking up old Elvis stuff makes me smile, and I'm know I'm not alone. As you said, he's still making people happy. God bless Elvis. Cheers !
Nice haul, Christian! Talking of bootlegs reminded me of my husband who did excellent copies of movies on DVD once he bought the equipment for burning DVDs and a good printer for printing copies of the picture sleeves! He didn't sell them - just made copies for his friends.
Glad you found a copy of 'Love Me Tender" Christian. I really liked the 45's you picked up too, (especially 'Wear My Ring Around Your Neck"). I bought a second hand British copy in The Bop Shop, Rayner's Lane in London in 1976. I hadn't heard either side before so it was great to hear this great double A side first time around when I got the record home. More importantly, are you allowed to talk about your time with the CIA? I don't want to see you getting into any Trouble, T R O U B L E, (Double... ). Steve, UK
Hello Jivatone. I really got lucky on this trip. I picked up 60 items, and I was hoping for 2! RE: my time in the CIA. My response would be "What time in the CIA". (See what I did?) Cheers !
98 cents. Out of which, Elvis got paid by RCA 5 cents, about twice what all other artists were paid by RCA. If either song was from an Elvis publishing house, Elvis got about another 5 cents. If both songs were from Elvis publishing houses, Elvis got about 5 cents per side. Yes, the Colonel had the deal running so on nearly every Elvis single, Elvis received six or more times as much as any other artist in the industry. Not too shabby for a Colonel who didn't fry chickens, huh? While in Biloxi, did you stop at the White Hotel? Back in 1955, there was a pier in front of the hotel where about 2am one romantic morning, Elvis kissed June Juanico for the first time. The hotel has a nice lounge and bar with huge windows looking out right where that pier would have been. Last time I was there, I even met a nice lady running the check in desk who had worked with June at a previous job. June's house is about 5 minutes away and still there. There are also at least 3 Elvis concert or live appearance spots within 10 minutes drive, so it is an interesting little Elvis town.
I was wondering if Christian recognised or looked for, any connection with June and Elvis in Biloxi. Funny to think a little town like that is known all over the world because of one of Elvis's girlfriends. We would never have heard of it in Australia otherwise, that's for sure!
Hey MS. We didn't stop at the White Hotel, but I'm definitely aware of Biloxi's Elvis connections, and I'm planning on doing something on it in the future. Thanks for the info. Cheers !
Great haul, Christian ⚡️⚡️
