Grover Washington Jr.(ss,as&ts), Richard Tee(key), Ralph MacDonald(perc), Paul Griffin(synth), Eric Gale(g), Anthony Jackson(b), Steve Gadd(ds), feat. Zack Sanders(vo)
that'sgreat !
Heard somewhere: "My name is Anthony Jackson. I play the bass. I can add complex rhythmic, harmonic and melodic embellishments to any groove while remaining in the pocket. I got soul and I'm super bad. ...just sayin."
Jesse Wilson : I believe EVERY BASS PLAYER has wet dreams at 4:01 that is the sexiest walk I’ve ever heard, ever!!!
This is The GodFather of the 6 string bass, right before he made the conversion for good!
Fk’n A-Jax is the ONLY reason I ever picked up and then bought a six string!
4-Strings 4-LIFE, but every once in a while I got take my 6-string out for a walk!
@@chubbeebubba I think he was playing his 4 strings hot rodded Jazz Bass on this tune.
Am I the only one replaying this track everyday? RIP Grover Washington Jnr...your passing away is testament to God taking away the talented musicians far too early, e.g. Charlie Parker! God Bless!
I wonder how many babies this song helped make
A perfect Saturday night ? A little wine, some great cheese, a few lit candles & music like this ! Grover was fabulous, shame he left us so soon. Thankfully he and David Sanborn, George Benson and Chuck Mangione pioneered Smooth Jazz & they can AND WILL live on forever ( I realize 3 are still alive ), but you know what I mean. If you're a fan of this & haven't heard Grover's "In The Name Of Love" search for it, it'll give you goose bumps.
Richard Tee and Steve Gadd...you can't go wrong. Tee is the most under-recognized pianist I can think of.
Steve Gadd, Richard Tee, Eric Gale dream team plus Anthony Jackson. wow .
This song brings tears of joy to my eyes and Anthony Jackson's playing brings a smile to my face.
That is why I call REAL MUSIC made by REAL MUSICIANS who made them for REAL MUSIC LOVERS!!!. R.I.P. Grover Washington, Jr..
Grover Washington Jr.
What a great version of this tune. It's like ear crack. That sax is telling a story and it's like "sit back and let me take you for a walk".
this some good shit here. i wanna thank my dad for all 19 years of my life he played nothin but oldies like this and i have to say that there aint no music like these oldies thatll sound like real good music

Thank you so much Mr. Grover Washington, thank you!
IT IS A WONDERFUL SONG.
Excellente! Music from the past are really refreshing! A soothing sound for sore ears!
This song still makes me cry. I miss his talent, one of the greatest saxophonist in his time, I was just over 12 years old when I began to listen to his songs in the 80's.
i hadn`t been that romantic untill i listened to THIS... just wonderful..a bunch of emotions you can`t even name..and the keyboards are out of this world!!
3:26 holy shit someone pay this man
😮😮😮😮wow

RIP Grover Washington Jr. You were one of the greatest!
Anthony Jackson on a 4 string bass. What a banging rhythm section.
Slammin" So cool to see Ralph MacDonald back in the day. Same legendary groove.
Im 17 and i live in philly, but i would die to live in philly around this time. Shout out to my hometown boy Grover!
I heard this song on the radio today and googled it.Im listening to it right now and all i have to say is "PURE MAGIC!" Today's music sucks!
Grover came out of one of the greatest recording stables, ever: CTI. Creed Taylor had Grover, Freddie Hubbard, Stanley Turrentine, Kenny Burrell, Esther Phillips, Billy Cobham, Joe Ferrell, Eumir Deodato, Airto Moreira, George Benson, Ron Carter, Bob James, Antonio Carlos Jobim, Milt Jackson, Idris Muhammad, Art Farmer, Ray Barretto, Chet Baker, Patti Austin, Dizzy Gillespie, Herbie Hancock, Don Sebesky and Wes Montgomery. Pete Turner's album cover photos were awesome!
Classic ... I can listen to this song over & over.
This is one of my favorite songs of all time. I am glad I found it finally
Fantastic! the voice, the sax.. everything!
i guess zach sanders is a genuinely modest person. apparently, he didn't want to hog the spotlight and take any attention away from grover washington jr. which is refreshing, in a way. i guess that for mr sanders, being given a chance to perform is enough. (and he did perform quite well.) there doesn't appear to be anything "show business" about zack sanders. he doesn't crave the attention of the audience and is uninterested in basking in their applause and adulation.
I guess people in the know refer to Zach Saunders as "the voice". Solid performance
He was also the singing voice in the School House Rock's "Verb" episode.
No problem. The idea from the song came from Ralph MacDonald, who is a New York born musician with Trinidadian heritage. He was leaving Trinidad after carnival in 1980 or 1981 after the annual carnival. Trinidad and Tobago was going through a recession at the time, things were tough. Just the two of us was actually Trinidad and Tobago.
I mean, it's Grover Washington Jr., Mr. Magic, you can't get better than this
Yeah, yeah. You're right.
This is my soul song. I can listen it for hours and do not get bored.
And don't forget : who wants the song (original version) PM and I'll send to you as fast as I can ;)
how could not love someone named Grover?
keep out anything to me but this song and this music
@DancingDavyJones thats a good way to look it at. you know when they want something nobody is going to change the way they think. i think about my happiness and being with someone who is going to give me the same feeling the one before did. thats the only way i make it through
A classic of the all classics.
This song is great.
Stop comparing covers and versions.
Brilliance Respects Brilliance.
I find that songs are best put in youtube, so that you can listen to them before you buy them from the story or those internet stores...
@georgedavis10 The keyboardist is the late Richard Tee, who was a session player and highly talented keyboardist. He died in 90s..... that's as much as I can remember.... The group playing behind the late Mr. Washington played as a unit for several artists...... Tom Scott, among them... They were collectively as Stuff. Most, sadly, are all gone.....
No one ever talks of Richard Tee's heavenly phase shifted rhodes sound. Man that stuff is just...

Almost twenty years listening is a long time :)
Start playing it!
I give you, bass maestro Mr Anthony Jackson
Man that bass, that sax! I love it. This is the same style of the music in Ridge Racer 4, pretty much grew up with this stuff.
All music is real music. But very little music now a days have meaning and the fundamentals (heavy instruments, drums). This is music in its true form. When everything was made from scratch. Now everything is computerized.
it gives me chills !
This song is great, and this performance is too: WOW!
Exquisitely romantic..pure beauty in the form of music.
GREAT REMENBER king saxofon alto - king jazz soul
