  • An unboxing and review of the Remington 700 SPS tactical in a 308 caliber. This rifle was purchased as an "all purpose" big game rifle. I plan to pursue elk, pronghorn, whitetail and more. Make sure you also checkout the unboxing and review for the Vortex Viper HS which will be the optic used on this rifle!

    Ok buddy nice video. Explain to us how is that gun different from REM model 700 VTR? Beside the barrel being triangular. I'm talking about the bolt action and carrier group. What is the difference in accuracy. Mine is a Marine corps cammo 308 VTR. All I see is the black Remington 700s where are camouflage ones? Looking to buy another. Thanks.

    It gets the job done. I ended up dropping a Timney 510 trigger in mine. Paired it with a Vortex Viper PST. One thing I ran into this year with the rain was with the Houge stock... it squeaked a lot when I went to shoulder it. Also, you want to clean and oil it pretty good after the rain.. they tend to rust easy. Overall a solid rifle. I love it!

    Guys I am new to shooting and in the past two months twice a week with my .223 Rem 700 20" threaded barrel I have been shooting 12 -1" targets , 4 shots each and 8 are 1 MOA and 4 are 1/2 MOA
    I have 3 rifles , Bergara .22lr , Remington 700 .223 and Bergara 6.5 cm and my favourite is the Remington.
    I did however replace the trigger just to be safe and get better performance with a triggertech trigger.

    I have a 700 SPS camo in 243. shoots sub MOA with with Hornady American whitetail 100g. That is the only good thing I can say about it. Everything else is garbage. The crappie parkerized finish will rust in a heartbeat. the stock is cheep plastic. And the magazine is supose to hold 4 rounds. But in 4 years, I have only been able to get 4 rounds in it and close the bolt only twice. Usually I can only get 2 rounds in it.
    I am looking to strip that shitty finish and redo it right, get a new stock and new magazine. I'm thinking it is going to cost me around $900 to have it professionally done.
    So I'm kinda in a delima. Do I want to spend that much on a gun that I bought brand new for $400? Or just buy another gun.
    I am on the edge of pulling the trigger on a new Christensen Ridgeline. To get something better than a Christiansen, you'll be buying a custom rifle.
    I also have a 700 CDL in 300 win mag. Great all around gun. The fit & finish is top notch. Absolutely love it. All 700's ARE NOT the same.
    Bottom line, you get what you pay for!

  • @paulrakis
    @paulrakis 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    You should be more informative of the history of Remington model 700. Explain everything in a next video. That rifle looks very cheesy and cheap compared to the VTR. I wouldn't pay $500 for that. Plus that's heavy to carry over 8 pound's gets annoying walking in the woods for a long period of time. That's also a Covid-19 gun buddy so good luck with it.

    • @manvsdeer
      @manvsdeer  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I agree that the stock gives it a cheap look, it’s meant to enhance grip but it looks bad in my opinion- now, on the performance side- and I am not a great shooter- all of my rounds touch at 100 yards, so I can’t knock it there! I’ll be putting it to the rest on some wyoming pronghorn later this year
