Tips a senior Marine taught me when it comes to bolt guns. 1. Have the optic set up so when you raise the rifle, there is zero scope shadow or "finding your reticle." 2. Use foam from workout mats, sleeping mats, or stacked layers of sponge and 100mph tape to create a cheek rest that matches YOUR and only your preferred comb height. 3. Put a small piece of foam or an ear protector foamy where the front of your cheek weld ends so when you raise the rifle, you'll be able to feel right where you should be. Hope these are as helpful to you as they were to me!
It looks like to me that stock was inlet for an Obeymeyer or M5 bottom metal, NOT factory bottom metal. You could have accuracy problems depending on how it interfaces with the pillars.
Cool set up. I made an M40 A1 "tribute" rifle. Its about 20% clone correct. Threw a leupold scope mount/rings on her with an old SWFA 10x mil dot, painted a laminated Boyds stock to look like a mcmillian camo stock, and added some period correct doo dads. From 30 ft away is looks just like the real deal! lol. It will be a back burner project, my idea to upgrade it slowly over time. The stock came out so good that I'll keep that, so next step is bedding it. Then trigger. Anyways enjoy your build, contrary to a common belief on the internet, you do have a practical gun in a practical caliber, and it looks cool and ws all know thats important too.
Can’t wait too! Gonna hit up the range when I’m back from some upcoming travel, make it a chill range day sighting in and all. Which bolt gun are you using?
@@jamesshoots I have a Remington 700 in 308 as well it started life as a SPS Varmint then I added a McMillian A3 stock, timney trigger, Vortex viper pst scope, harris bi pod and the same kind of sling you have. I loves to shoot Federal gold medal match in 175gr. Going to see how it does with the AAC 175gr OTM.
Looking forward to the range report! On ammo: I use Saltech's 150gr 7.62x51 out of my .308 gun. It's not the most accurate but it's pretty reliable and doesn't break the bank.
James, Thanks for sharing all the great info. Constructive criticism: Dare you to watch it back and honestly count how many times You say, "You know" SUPER, INFORMATIVE video however. Great job. jmp
Thanks man! Dude, I noticed that and some other sayings lol… The vid would have been too choppy to take em all out. This video can be a drinking game in the meantime. But I appreciate the feedback!

I’m thinking of doing a long barrel 3006 similar to what you have done here.
Maybe place the scope rings/mounts as far apart as possible. Maybe the forward ring forward more...

You ever consider looking into Colt's monolithic uppers? I picked up a 10.5" 6545 on a whim and it's been sick.
Not sure where you are in the metroplex, but there’s quite a few ranges where you can push that out to 1000+
2:02 the closed caption translation 😅
😂😂😂
That scope is the scope for the m24 in bf2042.
That has an old school M40A1vibe to it. Enjoy!
Hell yes! That’s what I was going for!
