I worked on the railway down Dover we was always goin in the tunnels. There is a lot near Samphire Hoe. Also between st Margaret’s to Dover. There not all ww2 tunnels some was built much before. Brings back good memories seen you guys go down there.
I used to go exploring as a child on the hills in Dover many moons ago and found many tunnels/large underground rooms/battlements and bomb crater... loved it.
Utterly brilliant!! this is why i watch you guys and the only channel ive ever subscribed to! really great coverage of a place rarely ever seen due to obvious reasons, but the banter at the end; giggling like schoolboys and throwing tree root on Ian's head etc. when he's trying to be a little serious - i watched that end bit repeatedly for about 10 minutes just because it made me laugh that much :) well done lads!!!
At 9:11 the whole formation above your head is ready to crush you. That's a pillar of chalk that's left supported. Note the V pattern, if either left or right of this picture frame collapses, then that whole chunk would fall as well. Think of it as the keystone in an arch.
Hello, gents! Nice to see #1 Fan with you. If he dressed like that every time you went to a site, and he carried a clipboard, nobody would question what you were doing there. If questioned, all he'd have to say would be something like: "IKS site safety officer. We're just checking this drainage adit. Nothing to see here." Sorted. 06:23 - that lone boulder holding literally everything else up, does look uncomfortably like the one at Lydden Spout, that you had to bleep your mate Bejoy's comment out when he saw it. Oh, and thanks, gents, for the toilet use demonstration at 21:42. Once seen, never forgotten. And there's no bog roll left. Typical.
You're talking about these tunnels being from the second world war, some of those tunnels are from the civil war (Oliver Cromwell) and it's an urban rumour that they stretch to Canterbury
Thanks pretty dodgy and Fezz Number One Fan that's cool OK who hit there head to make it an OFFICIALLY A IKS SITE!!!, Did you notice the George H. A great Artist !! Thanks fellas great history there!!!
We went there on a school trip in year six around november time it was really cool since i love history and the war but we only took the main parts and not the parts u went down
There was this one place I went in Dover it had a ladder going down to the beach and there used to be a wrecked ship or boat but I haven’t been for years and now I forgot where this location is
No1 fan should be grateful to be given an O light torch. I lost mine in the new forest a few weeks back. It was the best torch I ever had. But he obviously don't need one while wearing his camo outfit 😂
As seen on Television ! I should coco. I gave up paying TV licence five years ago. When the lies got too obvoius. Well done Fezz for conquering that Christraphobia.
Charles, if he isn't watching the bbc - then how is it parasitic? In my opinion it is the bbc that are the parasites. Imagine a scenario were there was a street performer that just happened to set up on the road that you walk along on your way to work. If the street performer were to approach you and threaten you, saying that you must pay him a fee for his performance based purely on the fact that you have the option to watch him, would you pay?
@Charles He also said the reason he stopped paying is because "the lies got too obvious" which suggests to me that he doesn't watch thier content. I try to avoid making assumptions about people - that said, I am sure Blank Steve will reply to correct me if I am wrong about him not watching the bbc.
Never seen before! Don't think so. We used to explore them when we were kids. There are literally miles and miles of tunnels in the cliffs and under Dover.
Yep, I reckon you're right - that's definitely a tunnel you've got yourselves there. Some broken-up old timber too and yeah, that's definitely chalk - can i take it things get more exciting as you go along, then ;-)?
Another great adventure ! But please next time you go down in that kind of territory as obviously unstable as it is,please wear head protection you do not want to see the result of not wearing protection ex miner now ohs ,whs , ehs ,auditor stay safe and perhaps set a good example to your younger followers..Love your work ! The layer change is the cheat sheet for a level tunnel. It's also their mistake, usually (like seen in other tunnels), you keep that in the lower half of the wall. One thing that kind of baffles me is the fact that, and i'm pretty sure they knew this, none of the tunnels they dug had stress relief, which kinda makes the walls look like they have pillars (you dig in the wall a small alcove every meter or so). This being chalk, it would have been easy to do and a good spot for wooden beams. As is, that tunnel should be sealed, the presence of roots indicates there's infiltration from the surface, IE, the chalk is thrice more easy to collapse. Do not advise going back there, and perhaps talking with the local community about sealing the tunnel up. This one is dangerous.
those roots coming from the roof tell me two things. 1. That shelter is shallow 2.the roots would be the prime cause of the collapses. You guys have bigger balls than me for going in there in that condition
Wow, just to think my 88 year old mom had to hide out in those caves during the war. She is still alive today and talks to me about that place.

What a rough looking site" well done for climbing through what is a dangerous place. Great video again from the best around.

Wow another very very good video :) Thumbs up !
The comedy value alone is worth a watch as well the history of the tunnels

Between Dover and st margerts walk along the cliff u will find a hole it drops into a tunnel system thats part of the old hospital
I think that is the one that was cleared out and is now open to the public, for a fee of course.
1,000th like!!!🥳
You guys rock !!!
What is the depth of these tunnels? It's amazing how far the roots have grown down! 😳
Great content u always amaze me with history thank you n chris

@Charles You are the one making the assumption. You even went as far as to use that assumption as the basis on which to call a person a parasite.
Are you sat there still trying to work out whether you should pay the street performer, Charles?
Love #1 fan's workers camo.
Very dangerous exploration very cool movie

Good one Ian, you look like a judge 15:50 Hahaha
A tight business down there and enough time for humor.
those roots coming from the roof tell me two things. 1. That shelter is shallow 2.the roots would be the prime cause of the collapses.

Yes makes sense about the roots
In a bad state that one ! Stay safe lads.
One of your more dangerous escapades. At least if it does collapse it would be quick and you won't know much about it.
It's still better than Time Team.
Awesome
Not gonna lie, those tunnels look sketchy AF
Where is the yellow jersey ?
what's behind the brick wall?
Entrance out
IKS Exploration Thanks! That’s a cool video, I would have taken a metal detector in there 😆keep up the awesome work and be safe!
If i was s brick layer and asked to go down there to block a tunnel id quit and try plumbing instead 😱
That is dangerous man it should be sealed the sealing don't look safe at all
Ceiling. :)
