I’m working on a comfort journal containing all kind of sweet words helping me to strengthen me during the last months of my dear hubby. I was inspired by Luise’s last video.

I have a friend who is unfortunately also losing a battle with cancer (at only 51) & I want to make her a journal but just wasn’t quite sure how to theme it, but words of comfort & love is a great idea. I hope you’ve got people & furry/feathered/scaly people to help you cope …/hug 🤗🐶

I recently had my brother and wife visit from Germany, and he bought one of her journals for me as a thankyou for having their daughter here in New Zealand as an exchange student for 6 months. I feel like a kid in a candy store owning one of her journals, and I must thank you for introducing me to her channel! ❤️

It's fascinating to me to watch you change the entire look of a page just by adding a few tiny little pieces. Is anyone else here old enough to remember when we made our own glue erasers out of globs of rubber cement?

Don't skip the pizza with your girlfriends, just do not eat the crust! I do that a lot as a diabetic to cut out the carbs. Same flavor and you won't miss out. Also you are going to need to get a 3x4 Kallax soon with your expanding journal collection! Love seeing them all lined up like that.

Hello Barbara! Thank you for your post! Very fun to watch while I'm beading! I have some ideas about increasing protein without eating meat! You could try lentils, tofu, hummus (chickpeas) and even quinoa which has a very high protein content, the highest of all the grains. You could also have more legumes, but make sure to pre-soak for a day or two to break down the hard tomdigest proteins, and cook them with a bay leaf and a little salt in a slow cooker (do you have Crockpots over there?) Ihope you are feeling better by the time you read this! Cheers! ❤
Thank you! I love all those foods, but they also have plenty of carbs. I realized I can’t gets the desired amount without supplementing with vegan protein powder, but that’s ok.
Of course diet and health choices are so so personal. I adhere to the McDougall Plan by Dr John McDougall (at least I try to do that!) I'm fairly sure your trainer will not like it because it's all about a starch-centered diet. Consider how elephants and hippos do not eat meat and they are very strong animals. Not that I'm suggesting you get that large and muscley. Even consider gorillas! Please google the Barleymen from ancient Rome! They never ate meat and they were gladiators! @49dragonflies You can actually go into ketosis if you eat too much protein, and also strip your body of calcium! So balance is key. Really it's not the carbs but the lack of fiber with the carbs that cause the problem. Refined foods, like too much bread and pasta are like mainlining sugar because there's no fiber to slow the digestion of starch-sugars. Of course dark German bread is fantastic as there is so much fiber it is an exception.Anyway feel free to push me off my soap box now Barbara!!!
Hi Barbara. I do hope that you start to feel better soon. 💗 I just thought that I would mention - I use baking soda rather than wax or talc on sticky things. It's odorless, slightly gritty, and it wipes off easily whilst leaving an invisible layer behind. 🧡💚🤎

We did one of the DNA heritage things - found out I was a lot less diverse than I thought (knew mostly European heritage but it's very much just one area).
❤ concentrated cruciferous vegs, called dim, is easy. Eggs are great for essential amino acids. I ferment my bread dough in fridge. Before use it, at least a day. Just basic recipe. Not sour dough. Marys Nest recipe video. I did increase yeast. Love your little journals. Take care of that cold. Try some thyme tea. Maybe put mint with it. Be safe. Oolong tea is great too.

Oh yay!! When I choose a video to watch, I always glance at the time to see how long or short it is. I glanced over at your time…. FIFTY ONE MINUTES!!!! Yay!! So I leaned back in my recliner with a cozy blanket. My Dachshund jumped up in my lap, got comfy with my blanket too. Video is over, I’m all kinds of inspired and my puppy is snoring (cutest thing ever). I just love these small journals. I especially love the one where you’ve made some upside down tags! Beautiful. Yes been on a optimum health journey for almost a year now …. Major lifestyle changes … didn’t start it to lose weight but that has been a side benefit(50+) lbs …. And my health has improved in significant ways…. Started this journey because of a health scare in March 2023. It’s been so worth the challenges. And yes while traveling the last 6 weeks it’s been harder to stay the course with my new diet…. Allowing myself to do the best I can and so far my health has been stable even with not being quite as strict as when I’m home.
I really do hope you feel better soon. I too am on a regimen. It’s basically KETO. No carbs though, or very little. I work out as well. I’ve lost 4 pounds in 3 weeks. It’s slow going. I needed your message today. Just trust the process, stay positive, and stay consistent. Unfortunately but fortunately I too have a vacation in the middle, but I can’t cancel. Enjoying the uncut! DNA results can be super surprising! I knew I was mostly UK 86%. But then 11% French!! And I have the second highest count of Neanderthal gene!!!! In 23 and Me. I think from the French part of me😂. So cool to do.
I am not on anything drastically new but still new to me in terms of the level of enjoyment/satisfaction/motivation I get from it. I discovered this exercise TH-cam channel not so long ago and it keeps me going. It is called MIZI. When I feel lazy I do just 15 min videos. When I am stronger in willpower, I can go for 40 mins. Very doable and effective. 16:17 and another tip from me for this spot: If you do not have pieces of paper with sewing machine stitches, you can cut some old clothes and use some of the seams to decorate your JJs.

Your future Barbara will thank you for sticking to your fitness program. Especially once you enter menopause and your metabolism changes. You are a ways off yet...;) I was 42, so over 20 years later I also am very conscientious of consuming more protein for more muscle mass to support my bird bones.😂 It's work, I am only 106 pounds, so its daily exercise and wise calories.😊 I was working on my journal, so now I'm relaxing and watching your video again! Hi Barbara, when my glue gets really stuck, I run the nozzle under really hot water. I have a hot water spout that I make coffee /tea with but I’m sure your faucet would work also Love to watch you do your magic❤

I am probably about half way through creating my first journal and been looking at your videos for ideas and a little bits of inspiration. I had been making some inserts this afternoon so I have sat and watched the video this evening and was writing on the my inserts whilst watching the video.
I thought my ancestry would show some Spanish/French origins since my maiden name comes from that area, however, it showed mostly Mayan ancestry! Wish I could claim some of that gold!! 😊

I so enjoyed this video. I was making a page in my JJ while watching and you inspired me to include things that were just lying around on my desk. It's a different result to what i normally make and that's fab because I was becoming a bit uninspired. I am also using my fitness pal. I have to lose weight for health reasons. I have lost 6 stone since 2020 and 4 of those since last April! I swim every day too. Good luck with your health journey. I'm sure you will achieve your goals! Xx
Finally some calm after a chaotic week 🤗. Aw I hope you feel better🤗. Cute container! Lol inking such tiny pieces is dedication🙊. I love using sewn paper strips 😁. I love the sound of those pan thingies. Stood listening to a busker for about an hour one time. Oh yes it's hard getting the amount of protein when training. But you'll have great muscles and Angelina Jolie said when she did high protein training for Tomb Raider she gain a lot of...ahem.... 'chest' muscle 🙊. I may have trained too much at some point🙈. You may be surprised at hidden sources of protein- oats, chickpeas, beans, lentils and of course soy products are high in protein as are most vegetables and even potatoes! It’s a myth that we need meat, and it’s amazing how many professionals are unaware.
I need to count my carbs. Staying healthy is SO much more! I hate having to think about everything I put in my mouth. I’ve been doing this off and on all my adult life. I am like you - all or nothing. I can’t do anything half way. And because I get so rigid when I’m dieting it’s hard to stay on the program.
Interesting. Was the size of the journals a conscious decision or just happens organically over time? I feel like sometimes I fight my natural tendencies,wirh too much planning, but watching you makes me feel like maybe I should let go more and see what happens. Great tip with the wax! Because I have a chronic condition and am an older woman, I am constantly checking my food and fluid intake . I do think it's a bit neurotic of me. Lately I have been increasing my protein levels too. I have a lot of foods that I react to now which is very annoying foods like eggs cheese and yogurt which use to be staples for me. I have weight problems because of the steroids and other medicinesI i have taken . I am wondering if your cold is a reaction to the changes you have been making? I hope you feel better soon. I think you can have, like once in a blue moon, a "cheat" day and allow yourself to go out and eat whatever you like. You look stressed out too much with this program.
Your voice sounded fine but having that headachy feeling that comes with a cold is awful. Take care of yourself. It's so hard to be on a specific program for fitness but I've learned that if one day goes awry - as they will - you have to have the fortitude to go right back the next day. I've always wanted to do the DNA testing. I just never seem to just do it. Now might be a good time! I keep getting discounts from Ancestry so, why not!

I am not on anything drastically new but still new to me in terms of the level of enjoyment/satisfaction/motivation I get from it. I discovered this exercise TH-cam channel not so long ago and it keeps me going. It is called MIZI. When I feel lazy I do just 15 min videos. When I am stronger in willpower, I can go for 40 mins. Very doable and effective. 16:17 and another tip from me for this spot: If you do not have pieces of paper with sewing machine stitches, you can cut some old clothes and use some of the seams to decorate your JJs.

Your future Barbara will thank you for sticking to your fitness program. Especially once you enter menopause and your metabolism changes. You are a ways off yet...;) I was 42, so over 20 years later I also am very conscientious of consuming more protein for more muscle mass to support my bird bones.😂 It's work, I am only 106 pounds, so its daily exercise and wise calories.😊 I was working on my journal, so now I'm relaxing and watching your video again! I so enjoyed this video. I was making a page in my JJ while watching and you inspired me to include things that were just lying around on my desk. It's a different result to what i normally make and that's fab because I was becoming a bit uninspired.
I am also using my fitness pal. I have to lose weight for health reasons. I have lost 6 stone since 2020 and 4 of those since last April! I swim every day too. Good luck with your health journey. I'm sure you will achieve your goals! Xx

I love the sound of those pan thingies. Stood listening to a busker for about an hour one time. Oh yes it's hard getting the amount of protein when training. But you'll have great muscles and Angelina Jolie said when she did high protein training for Tomb Raider she gain a lot of...ahem.... 'chest' muscle 🙊. I may have trained too much at some point🙈. You may be surprised at hidden sources of protein- oats, chickpeas, beans, lentils and of course soy products are high in protein as are most vegetables and even potatoes! It’s a myth that we need meat, and it’s amazing how many professionals are unaware.

I need to count my carbs. Staying healthy is SO much more! I hate having to think about everything I put in my mouth. I’ve been doing this off and on all my adult life. I am like you - all or nothing. I can’t do anything half way. And because I get so rigid when I’m dieting it’s hard to stay on the program.

I know almost nothing about my ancestry and I'm not sure I want to know. What if it makes me feel different about myself 😮!!?
Because I have a chronic condition and am an older woman, I am constantly checking my food and fluid intake . I do think it's a bit neurotic of me. Lately I have been increasing my protein levels too. I have a lot of foods that I react to now which is very annoying foods like eggs cheese and yogurt which use to be staples for me. I have weight problems because of the steroids and other medicinesI i have taken . I am wondering if your cold is a reaction to the changes you have been making? I hope you feel better soon. Love your videos. I wonder if you buy new distress oxide pads when they are dry or do you use the refill? Do you know how much refill should be added on the pad and how long does it take for it to suck in?
I use refillers and I add quite a bit until I see the surface is saturated and let it soak in over night, but I’m not sure that’s the correct way 🤷♀️

I think you can have, like once in a blue moon, a "cheat" day and allow yourself to go out and eat whatever you like. You look stressed out too much with this program.
Your voice sounded fine but having that headachy feeling that comes with a cold is awful. Take care of yourself. It's so hard to be on a specific program for fitness but I've learned that if one day goes awry - as they will - you have to have the fortitude to go right back the next day. I've always wanted to do the DNA testing. I just never seem to just do it. Now might be a good time! I keep getting discounts from Ancestry so, why not!
