Ten Tec makes great radios. I had a Ten Tec Scout in '95. Other than the band modules being a pain, it was a great on the go radio for that time period. I loved the fact that for such a small radio you could use it for QRP or 50 watts. 50 watts is all you ever really need to get a decent signal out. The transmit audio constantly received accolades. I do like these Argonauts too. Classic little radios for home or a quick jaunt out to work in the countryside. Thanks for posting.
Loved the demo. Nice to see both phone and cw.. mainly interested in the CW. I want to step into radios made in the USA.. well done as always Terry. I have learned many things watching your videos. Stay safe...
Thank you for the video! I really wanted to show some Tentec love for people to purchase as their first HF radio. I’d like to use this clip on my show that helps to encourage people to get into amateur radio. I’ll be sure to credit your channel and put a link to it in the description of the video. Thanks again for making a very educational and well organized video. Larry de K7HN
Nice radio. CW and you only dialed down to 750 hz? You've got to go down a lot lower for you to benefit from the filtering. Once I zero beat and there's interference, I dial down to as low as 50 hz. Now you have a filter. I really like the radio. It's well laid out. Barry, KU3X
Terry - hope you are keeping the Argo V. Have loved your posts from Drummond Island, wouldn't be the same without the Ten Tec. Enjoy your new "Father's Day" radio.
John N7WAS Hi John, Glad you liked the video. Yes, the Argo is a great QRP transceiver. I recently acquired a elecraft K2. I plan to take it up next year.
I was actually thinking of buying one for a field radio and then they shut down and pulled up the stakes with no prior notice and moved up to Dayton Ohio. All of the customers radios that they had were returned to their owners unserviced. Just another example of an old rich fat guy working the system for a tax break! Glad I didn't buy one already! Sad part is no other radio company will pick it up unless a Chinese company buys it just for the name. The red flag went up when I was looking at them and the only place you could order one was through TenTec and not through major sellers like HRO or GigaParts.
This is NOT an Argo. That was a little portable rig with separate band modules for each band. This is an ArgoNAUT V which does not need separate band modules. They are all built-in.
Tec Tec Argonaut V 516 is fast becoming a collector's item. The classic look, tube-like warm sound. Masterpiece.
Have an ARGO V and love it

Thank you for the demo. I'm eyeing one now, and I think you just convinced me to go for it.
I had a Viking Valent back in the day. Loved the mercury vapor rectifiers.
Just purchased one been looking for one awhile

See.....you don't need a SDR radio with all those menu settings. What more do you want.

It is not Argo …it is Argonaut. Argo is different radio…

They are all Ten tec Argonaut's. "Argo" is an abbreviation, widely used by Hams. The model you are referencing is the Scout 555 or 556
